What is a void-of-course moon? This is an astrological term that describes a moon that is languishing, resting, not energetic. This new moon will not be communicating with any planet, and you always need an active, energetic moon to make progress. Astrologers need to see the new moon be either friendly or in conflict with a planet (either way is OK), for the rule is, the moon must be actively engaged with at least one planet to avoid being void.

Although this new moon will come out of void in a matter of hours, astrologers judge a new moon’s opportunities by the exact moment she arrives (think of this as the “birth” of that new moon). That’s when the die is cast and forms the moment an astrologer can make an accurate forecast of that moon’s strength and helpfulness to you in the area of the chart where the moon appears.

When a moon is void, things remain as they were before, with no change and no progress. Most of us dearly want to see progress and positive change when we have a meeting or take action. There are times, however, when we want the moon to be void and not see any change.
