It's time to fatten up your bank account, dear Aries. You've a superb window of opportunity to get a raise or better paying job at the new moon, May 5 and in the two weeks that follow it. You must act quickly because the golden opportunity to make more money will come up quickly and if you delay, someone else may gobble it up!

Every month we get new moons that range from being quite harmonious to somewhat flawed. We all depend on these new moons to bring fresh opportunity in a different area of our lives. This is true because we only get one new moon a year in each of the twelve houses of our charts. This month your focus will be on money.

The actions you take at and just after the new moon May 5 will affect you for the whole year to come. This is true every month, with every new moon. It's important to take actions, for if you do, you should see developments soon afterward. You can't delay to next month, for in astrology it matters when you act. Besides, Mercury will be retrograde from May 26 to June 19, not a time to negotiate or sign contacts.

This all means that if you are serious about making more money, speak up now, on or just after May 5 - there will not be another window of opportunity for a long while. It is not often that a new moon is so beautifully angled toward other planets. You have that advantage now, so it's time to ask for your due!

Indeed, this new moon, May 5, will be such a breathtaking beauty, it is sure to bring an unusual level of harmony, agreement, and assistance to you in your quest. Being one of the very best new moons of the year, everyone, of every sign, will have something to cheer about. In your case, this near-perfect new moon will fall in your house of salary and other earned income, so this is where your luck will lie.

The reason I say this particular new moon sparkles so brightly is that it will form a legendary "grand trine" - a grand triangle of harmony - in the sky linking Pluto on one side of the triangle (your house of fame and honors) and Saturn in another (your house of daily work projects). Both will also link to Venus, your ruler, in the third leg of the triangle (in your second house of earned income). Surely this is the time to get the generous increase you deserve. This won't necessarily happen all by itself, so to be sure, you must ask for your money.

Pluto's position, in your house of fame, is particularly telling because it sits this month at the critical, fateful one degree of a cardinal sign, in this case Capricorn. This is considered the important degree of action and a degree of incredibly high energy in a chart, and how fortunate that it will also receive comforting, stabilizing cooperation from Saturn. This is important too, because Saturn is the natural guardian of your solar tenth house of fame and honors. It's evident that the work you do on a day-to-day level is currently leading you to a fantastic career breakthrough.

A few days earlier, watch days that surround May 2 for news. That's when Saturn will move to direct motion after months of being retrograde. If you feel you've been stuck in a career holding pattern, Saturn's stronger orbit will have you zooming forward from this month on and may bring a few interesting phone calls and messages. (Saturn's not due to retrograde again until December 31, 2008.) Here you have the very best new moon of the year in your salary house, to be accompanied by Saturn, now moving direct speed in your career and honors house the same week. As you know, there really aren't any coincidences in life.

You won't have to make a job switch if you don't want to move. It looks like you can stay exactly where you are and simply command more salary or take on a lucrative assignment after hours that may be offered now. If you do want to make a switch, you can, and if you do find a new job, it will be a prestigious one. Still, I feel you are apt to start your exciting new job in mid-to-end of July or even August, at the solar or lunar eclipse August 1 and 16. Perhaps talks for the juicy job you will aim for will take that long to actually manifest. You do have many excellent career days to schedule talks, and I will list those for you as we go along in this report.

If you are self-employed, you can raise your fees this month, just after the new moon May 5. Although the economy is shaky, you will find yourself in a remarkably strong position. Gather up your courage and put down that higher fee. Once you establish your new fee, you will operate from a new, higher plateau - one that will allow you to enjoy more of the finer things of life.

I would like you to pay special attention to May 12, a day so superb for career interviews and talks that results may stun you. Dear Aries, the period of May 5 to 12 will be extraordinary, with May 12 capable of catapulting you into precisely the kind of job or salary that you dearly want. You should feel mighty good about yourself on this day, and rightly so.

Then, on the following weekend, on Friday, May 16, through Monday, May 19, you will have Venus in perfect angle to both Jupiter and Uranus, so career and money news will be very exciting. You seem never to run out of creative juice this month!

Finances will also be a major theme again later in the month, within days surrounding the full moon May 19. This time, however, the type of funds you will be thinking about will be different. Instead of salary, it may be that you are focused on commissions, a royalty, signing bonus, or certain employee benefits. If you are leaving your job for a better one, you may get severance from your old job, perhaps because it is ending on its own or your company will merge with another. You may be filing for unemployment, getting a tax refund, or having discussions about credit, loans, or other areas that fall under the umbrella of "other people's money." If you are in a divorce, the settlement on the division of property could easily be settled on or near May 19.

Let me speak to the possibility that your current job may be ending for one reason or another. There is no reason to be anxious - you have exceptional aspects for a sterling new position. This truth should become apparent soon, if not this month, then certainly by the full moon July 18. With an important full moon falling in your tenth house at that time, it will be a truly wonderful time for landing a major position that reflects an important step up. Often the universe has to toss us unexpectedly out of a present job to make room for a new and better one.

Boredom or restlessness; driving ambition; a happy, surprise offer to do something new; a persistent frustration; or the outright loss of a job - the reason you leave your job doesn't matter. Looking at your chart, this year any and all reasons will lead to the same excellent results for you. It doesn't matter what provides the push. What matters is that you will be moving up very shortly, and you'll be glad you left your old job for the new one.

To be absolutely clear, there are no eclipses or adverse aspects to suggest that you would have an unexpected and untoward end to your job anytime soon. I say this simply in case you find yourself in that unlikely situation. I want you to be comforted in knowing that of all years, 2008 will bring your greatest reward, for this year has both Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, and Pluto, planet of power, at the pinnacle point of your chart, bringing you all sorts of fabulous luck.

The talks you have or actions you take concerning finances at this full moon May 19 should go well because you will have Jupiter and the Sun superbly angled, showing again that your reputation in your industry precedes you. Also, Venus' position in your salary house suggests that the increase in salary should be surprisingly generous, as evidenced by the beautiful angle of Uranus and Venus.

Your eighth house of other people's money is so well aspected on the full moon on May 19 that you may take a chance on a couple lotto or raffle tickets. Go ahead and buy a few! Mars will be at hard angle to the full moon, however, so don't go overboard, dear Aries.

Mars' position to the moon alternatively suggests that money you use for socializing, a vacation, a child, or a creative project could drain your account quite a bit. All of these areas sound like expenditures you'd want to take, so I wouldn't worry too much.

A confidential career meeting you have on Wednesday, May 21 should bring surprisingly exciting results! This will be due to the fantastic interplay of Uranus and Jupiter, a five-star aspect if there ever was one!

Regarding your health, if you've not felt well and have had difficulties getting a correct diagnosis, Saturn's turn to direct motion on May 2 could finally bring you an answer. You may have been feeling a bit tired too, but if so, that would have been due to Saturn in retrograde in your sixth house of health. Thank goodness things are finally looking up. You should feel an improvement very soon, by this month. Energetic Mars will be supportive to your Sun too, another sign you are about to feel better.

Romantically, finally you are about to see heartening developments. You've had a long wait, but from May 9 to June 30, Mars, your ruler, will tours your house of true love. Brilliant! That's a really sensational development, and it could not come at a better time. Mars only comes by for a visit once every two years, but Mars is so strong and powerful that you won't need more time - Mars will give things a really good push. Mars energizes everything it touches, so in this case, that means your love life is about to move into full swing.

If you want a baby, this month could also bring good news. With all the emphasis on career and money emphasis going on in your chart, Mars' entry into the tender, loving fifth house will offer a lovely, soft counterpoint. Mars will help boost this part of your chart, so if you do hope for a child, this would be a good month to try for a baby. Do so near the very fertile new moon, May 5.

Venus will enter Gemini on May 25 for three weeks, ending June 18, and ironically at the very same time, Mercury will be retrograde in Gemini too, from May 26 to June 20. This suggests, first, that love and travel are linked, and second, that you may return to a location you visited previously. It would be a spot that you loved and that you want to see again.

Alternatively, you may also get a communication from an old friend or lover who misses you and who you long to see again. Apparently the feelings are mutual. This person may be someone you are romantically involved with or not, but either way, you seem to be thinking quite a bit at month's end about this person from your past.

Your best romantic evenings will arrive in the last third of the month, but you will also have a few choice days happening earlier as you will see by this list: May 10-11, 15, 20-21, 24, 26, and 30.

Summary:

If you want to make more money - and of course you do - seize the moment to ask for a raise or higher fees on the new moon, May 5, or in the days in that follow it. The changes you make to your income this month will set you on a higher plane from now on. When you make your pitch to your boss or client, couch things in sensible, practical terms. It will be vital that you avoid blue-sky thinking or aggrandizing your recent contributions to the firm. Six heavenly bodies in earth signs will warn you to stay real. Besides, it looks like you have plenty to shout about, so you need not embellish!

This month's aspects are some of the very best of the year, so go after your raise, for chances are that you'll get it. Saturn in your house of work projects will finally turn to sturdy direct orbit on May 2 and in the process send a fine beam to Pluto. This says that the work you've done on current projects are soon to add up to a fine reputation, and that hard work will now catapult you into better money and possibly a new title.

The full moon on May 19 will bring financial developments to fullness too, but this time, the money you talk about - and likely receive - will come in one large chunk rather than portioned out in a paycheck. You may now be given a commission or royalty check, or even win a stash of money, say, on a TV game show! You may get money from a bank as a loan or mortgage, or from a venture capitalist that believes in your idea. Alternatively, a divorce settlement or other court case could be finalized in May's third week, much to your relief.

If you are interviewing for a job or pitching someone a presentation earlier in the month, you will hear the outcome at this full moon May 19 - and have happy results to celebrate. This would be the ideal point to consult a financial advisor or to examine your retirement stock portfolio. With Jupiter and the Sun so beautifully angled, you should be able to leave the month feeling richer than when you entered it - and get a new promotion or job to celebrate, too.

Are you feeling like your home could use a little perking up for spring? Mars will help you find perfect solutions during the first ten days. Freshen things up with stylish new throw pillows and other touches for your living room, and add new linens for your bedroom. Planets in Taurus will also put you in the mood to put plants and flowers everywhere. If you're really energetic, call in the painters before they get too busy this summer. It's your time to make your home fresher and more inviting. Your mother used to do spring cleaning for a reason - it's necessary and feels great afterwards.

From May 10 through all of June, you will enter one of the most divinely romantic periods in a long time. (Indeed, it's been over two years since you've seen anything like this!) The weekend of May 10-11 will be especially bright, single or attached.

That Sunday, May 11, will be Mother's Day in the USA. This year's celebration of motherhood should be outstanding if you are a parent - much more special than ones past. Your partner will say you're one hot mama!

Venus' move into Gemini on May 24 will bring more beauty and love to your social life, and will also stimulate your possibilities for travel. If there's a nearby town you've wanted to investigate - a yoga retreat, a mountain lookout, or a soothing spring lake surrounded with wild flowers - pack and go at month's end.

At the same time, Mercury will retrograde in your short distance travel house from May 26 to June 19. This means that starting on Memorial Day, Mercury will go a bit haywire. Double-check your travel plans and schedule vehicle maintenance if you plan to drive. You may encounter delays, mechanical problems, and cancelled flights. While the whole Mercury retrograde period can often be difficult for a variety of reasons, the days when Mercury acts wildest will be on the day Mercury first turns retrograde and on the day it turns to normal direct speed. If you are in the USA and plan to go away on Memorial Day, decide if you can leave a few days earlier.

Keep these dates in mind:

Ask for a raise or open talks: May 5 or 6. Or, second best, do so from May 7 to 18, with your best results occurring on earliest days.

Career success will be stunning: May 12, 16-19, and 21.

Mercury goes retrograde: May 26 until June 19

Wrap up a big financial deal or get advice: May 21-22

It is a cute piece so I am looking forward to seeing the whole half-hour show. (Usually I am afraid to watch the shows I am interviewed for, but Amy is different! I liked her questions a lot!)

What is the Movie Preview Awards? It's a Hollywood awards show for the very best movie previews (also called trailers) of the year, in various categories, such as Best Comedy, Best Thriller, Best Documentary and so forth. The organizers have a great sense of humor, and they have other categories like, "Trashiest Trailer" (you can imagine what that would be) and the "Golden Fleece Award" for the trailer that shows so much of the movie, you no longer actually have to leave the house to see it. We all know about THOSE!

You can now watch the Movie Preview Awards on MYNetworkTV. (This network used to be UPN and before that, WPIX (in New York City. It is a regular network, not a cable network.) The show will air on Memorial Day, on Monday, May 26 at 8:00 PM. Check www.MyNetworkTV.com for local listings.

I love the entertaining style of this event - talented comics hand out the awards, and often their quips are hilarious. I have actually been attending this show in person every year for the past eight years because I love to go to the movies, and I love this particular award show. Until a few years ago, this has been a kind of insider event where friends would have to tell you about it via their Blackberries and help you get a ticket to get inside the velvet rope. Now, I am happy to say, the rest of the world is beating a path to their door and actually opening up this event to the global village via television for the first time. For now, it will only be aired in America, but give it time - it may be coming to your corner of the world soon.

The show Movie Preview Awards, also called the Golden Trailer Awards, is a show run by two great young women who happen to be sisters, Evelyn and Monica Brady. They are both passionate about film, and this, their baby, is now growing up and getting lots of deserved attention. As an aside, I found out Monica and Evie have been avid readers of Astrology Zone® for 12 years! We love that!
