Your Horoscope for Capricorn
by Susan MillerThe ancient astrologers emphasized that the fifth house (so lit up in your chart by the new moon on May 16) is linked to the arrival and care of children, even more than its emphasis on love, fun, leisure, sports, and entertainment—all topics also covered by your fifth house. Back then, the fifth house was almost entirely devoted to pregnancy, birth, and the care of children. In modern times, the fifth house retains that link but also covers the spark of first love and all the enjoyment that comes with it. (Marriage is covered by another part of the chart, your seventh house, essentially the house of serious, sacred commitments and promises.)
I mention this because I get many letters from readers, both men and women, who relate to me their deep desire for a baby. If you are among those who do want to welcome a child into your life, this new moon might help you do just that. It is falling in the right place in your chart and has no distracting planets or aspects.
This is not a guarantee, as astrology is not about destiny but rather timing. From what I can see, the May 16 new moon and the days and weeks that follow it would be an ideal time to try for a baby. I cannot see your entire unique chart (and everyone’s chart is different, even those of twins or triplets).
If you are not ready for a baby, you must be extra careful. This new moon is within five degrees of and out-of-sign conjunction with Uranus, the planet of all things sudden and unexpected, so a pregnancy could happen out of the blue. Uranus just left Taurus and is straddling two houses, your fifth house (love) and your sixth house (health), so it’s still within the influence of the new moon and Sun.
