Monthly News from Susan Miller — October 2026

Dear Reader,

October opens with Venus going retrograde (partly in Scorpio and partly in Libra) from October 3 until November 13, a total of 42 days, so be sure to check your forecast for both your Sun sign and for your rising sign. In your October forecast, I outline all the things it would be best for you to wait to do until after Venus regulates her orb.

Mercury will also go retrograde, from October 24 until November 13, the same date Venus will go direct. Mercury will retrograde in Scorpio the entire time.

I was relieved to see that by November 13 we will have clear skies, and for the first time in many years, Mercury retrograde will not harm holiday shopping. Both shoppers and retailers will be happy, with fewer returns and with more smiles on the faces of your recipients.

We have an extraordinarily positive aspect coming up, not this month but next month, on November 16. It will be the conjunction of active Mars and good-fortune Jupiter. They will meet in Leo, and if you think this is a commonplace event, think again! While Jupiter and Mars do have a regular meeting every two years, they rarely meet in Leo. When they meet on November 16, it will be only the fourth time in 100 years they will have met in Leo! You have time to get ready, and I spend some time in your forecast detailing the different ways each sign will enjoy this lovely aspect. Again, be sure you check your rising sign as well as your Sun sign, for you will likely have two areas of gain.

Both the new and full moons have glitches associated with them this month, so it looks like the ghosts and goblins are playing tricks on us. We are all in this together, coping as best we can. There will be some wonderful days sprinkled through October, however.

I love October 15, when Jupiter in Leo will sextile the Sun in Libra, an aspect of great opportunity and growth.

Halloween will have the transiting moon in Cancer and fall on a Saturday (October 31). This year the universe has laid the groundwork for a fun family affair. Get into it by making your children’s costumes. I remember so well how my mother enthusiastically glued my costumes together. Homemade ones can be the best—my teachers always loved what she did. She wove so many memories of my childhood, and all of them were happy.

September 27 is always a tough day for me, for it marks the passing of my mother. I miss her terribly, and I hear her voice in my mind as I write your forecasts. My mother taught me astrology, and she was quite a scholar of the subject, having studied with a renowned astrology correspondence school for eight years before I was born, and then spent the rest of her life sharpening her skills even more. She didn’t have the benefit of a computer as we do now, so she did all her charts by hand, and her math was meticulously accurate.

One day my mother said to me that she wished she could have written books and articles as I do about astrology. I told her, “Little Mom, I am writing your books, your articles. They are yours—I hear your voice, and I tell my readers, this is all you.” She had the kindest heart, always cheerful, and she read all my work until the day she died. I was surprised to learn that my sister had printed out all my Gemini (her Sun sign) and Libra (her rising sign) forecasts for Little Mom each month so she could monitor what I was saying. I laughed when she told me. I asked her how I was doing, and she had a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes and smiled, “You can continue!”

If you’ve never read the essay I wrote about her the night she died, it is on my website here: “Remembering Little Mom”

I want to thank you for sending your greeting cards to my cousin’s friend who is in the adult home, paralyzed from the chest down from an automobile accident. Her name is Joyce, and although we have not met in person (my cousin Maria told me about Joyce), we have talked on the phone. I hope to get to Oregon to meet her in person. Joyce is an Aries born March 22, and I love her spirit.

She was so surprised to get cards from so many different countries. We have to keep this up! The home Joyce is in is small, and the staff has noticed the mail coming in. Joyce loves to read your notes, and some of you have included a photo of you or your dog or a little child. She is loving the stamps she sees on the envelopes. It is so easy to make someone happy with just a little greeting card.

Joyce gets no visitors. Her husband passed away a while ago, and she has no children. I sent her an iPad. She was praying the staff would hook it up for her, and they did! She is loving it. Until now she’s been using her phone to get on the Internet, but a large screen is better.

In case you lost Joyce’s address, here it is:

I was thinking about how easy it can be to help make someone happy. The lady who does my nails in my neighborhood just lost her job. She is from Mexico, has three children, and her work is superb. After 18 years, with no notice, the salon closed, and she  didn’t receive any severance or even a compliment, such as “Great job!”

I felt I had to do something. I live in a high rise, and we have an internal digital message board that all the tenants read. I put in a note that Marie would be willing to come to your apartment to give you a mani-pedi. She would even give you a back massage, and her rates were reasonable. Because of my two little notes that I posted two different times, Maria’s business is booming. I helped her and her family, and I barely did a thing. Is there someone in your world that you can help?

My broken leg is coming along. It is now five months, and I can go outside by myself on my chopsticks (my crutches) and can even hail a taxi. I still don’t go out if it is raining. The doctor saw me August 11, and he said nature had healed the bone, but that the soft tissue would take much longer. He said it was very wounded, and he suggested I come back in February 2027.
It would take that long to get better.

My doctor has been right all along, so I am listening to him. He said it would take until the end of April to be normal again. It is already much better, and I am getting stronger each day, but admittedly, it is slow. The first few months I had to lie very still while the bone knitted together (it is too dangerous for me to be operated on, as I bleed excessively). Thank you for your inquiries!

My calendar for 2027 is nearly done. My writing was done two months ago, but then it went into edit and design. All the while, I was speaking with Izak, my favorite French illustrator, who now lives in Connecticut, and we worked together perfecting the artwork. I want you to always be uplifted and inspired when you look at my calendar. It’s beautiful, and I hope we will go to press soon. I will keep you posted on this! It will be ready in plenty of time for the holiday gift-giving season!

I have another announcement. If you have the premium subscriber version of my app “Astrology Zone Horoscopes” (on Apple and Google Play), you can now be notified the minute the monthly forecast is posted. You don’t have to keep checking!

This same app has daily horoscopes, as you know, and those long daily scopes go out at the same time every day, as there is a special clock inside the app. I don’t have to tell you about the daily scopes. If you turn on your notifications, you won’t have to keep checking to see if your monthly forecast is posted yet. You will be the first to be notified.

My other app, “Moonlight Phases”, tracks when the moon is void of course, and I explain in the app why you need to know this information. If you have notifications turned on, you will be notified the minute the moon goes void (that means the moon is not at all helpful) and the moment the moon is back in good shape. You will also be notified when the moon changes signs, which I find incredibly helpful.

I built GPS into both apps, so the information is always accurate for wherever you are at the time. When you travel, the app travels with you. I see, for example, that the moon will be void on October 2 until 3:53 PM EDT in New York and will be in Gemini. Then, at 3:53 PM EDT the moon will move into Cancer and stop being void. Professional astrologers have used the void moon in their consultations for years, but until I designed this cute app (look at the pictures in the app store) to calculate the precise times, it was a tedious process to find out just when the moon would be void.

Follow me on social media, please, because I remind you each day of the major aspects that are coming up. I am on X, Instagram, Threads, Discord, and Bluesky—just search Susan Miller or AstrologyZone. Let me know on one of these platforms how you are doing.

My job is to make you happier, and I work on that goal every day.

See you next month!

Susan
