Your Horoscope by Susan Miller

The saving grace is that at the time of the eclipse in Sagittarius, we have two planets in Pisces, two planets in Gemini, and one in Sagittarius (it’s a lunar eclipse, so the planet in Sagittarius is actually weighted as being worth more than one point). If we just add things up normally, that makes five mutable planets, and there are 10 heavenly bodies in our solar system (eight planets plus the Sun and moon). We also have three in active cardinal signs and two in a fixed sign. Cardinal signs like to keep moving forward, so that’s good. Fixed signs like things as-is. As a Virgo, you are a mutable sign. The four mutable signs are: Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, and Sagittarius. Mutable signs are flexible, adaptable, resourceful, and highly communicative. This means whatever comes up can be changed with discussion.

If we were dealing with mostly fixed signs (and planets at sharp 90-degree angles from each other) in T-square instead of a mutable T-square, you would need a jackhammer to break the code on the problem and create progress. A mutable eclipse, however, is plastic and malleable, and you will be participating in plenty of discussions. Mutable signs are good at generating a wide variety of solutions to any situation, and they are not stubborn. If your birthday falls on September 8, plus or minus five days, you will feel this lunar full moon eclipse directly on or near June 5.

Now, we need to talk about Mercury, your ruler, which is about to go retrograde from June 17 to July 12. That will slow down anything you’re involved in. I know, it always feels like Mercury is out of phase. In case you’re curious, Mercury retrograde happens three times a year, every 12 weeks, and stays retrograde for three-and-a-half weeks. It might help to know what triggers a Mercury retrograde. The minute Mercury orbits 27.5 degrees away from the Sun, the Sun pulls Mercury back to be at his side. According to Greek mythology, the deal was that Mercury would act as Zeus’ agent and was allowed to live on Mt. Olympus with his sisters and brothers. Mercury was clearly smart, so Zeus wanted him to speak and negotiate on his behalf. Once Mercury started to orbit too far away, Zeus said: Wait! Where are you going? Get back here! And Zeus pulled little Mercury back.

When Mercury goes retrograde from June 17 to July 12, you shouldn’t sign papers or buy a computer, smart phone, or any other electronic goods. If you need one, you should purchase it immediately at the start of the month and aim to stay as far away from June 17 as possible. You will always feel the oncoming slowdown of Mercury two weeks before its onset.
