Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
You seem to be focused on financial matters, for as you begin October, you have just come through a sweet and positive new moon in Libra at five degrees on September 28, lighting your eighth house of other people’s money. That new moon will remain strong during the first ten days of October. You are a creative soul, so you prefer to focus on new projects, leaving financial management to others, but this month your financial motivation will be high. If you are in negotiations about a large deal involving money, you are likely to do well, for you have the brilliant Sun in your financial sector now, and where the Sun is found is the place you will shine the brightest.
If you have been hoping for a payment from a client for work done, a commission or royalty check, an inheritance, a financial court settlement, an insurance payout, child support, or university financial aid, as examples, the money is likely to come the first week of October. This would be a superb time to put in an application for a mortgage, bank loan, or line of credit or to appeal to venture capitalists for an infusion of cash. You likely have expenses too, but you will be happy to send money to those you owe, including the government for taxes. It feels good to wipe the slate clean.
The reason I am so enthusiastic about your ability to improve your cash flow in early October is that at the very same time the new moon appeared (September 28), profit-minded Venus was in ideal alignment with benefic Jupiter. Venus rules your financial solar eighth house that you and I are discussing here, and Jupiter is traveling in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievements. This suggests that the hard work you’ve already done will put you in line for a generous payment now.
Mars will enter your eighth house on October 3, and that usually forces up check writing, but because Uranus is not involved, it will not likely be unexpected. You may have planned to pay certain people and companies, such as to make a tuition payment, invest in your business, or start a new project. (Most Pisces prefer to work in their own businesses because you generally don’t like a 9-to-5 situation.) When you start to concentrate on an assignment, time drops away. You forget to eat, sleep—you bond completely, one reason Pisces is often so successful. Some people underestimate your potential, but they will be sorry later when they see how well you do in life.
The full moon of October 13 will end your financial negotiations and check writing, and then you will be able to devote time to other things. You are likely to see a very large check come in, and it will represent money you earned, for the full moon in Aries, 20 degrees, will fall in your second house of earned income. Furthermore, the moon will receive shimmering beams from benefic Jupiter, the great planet of good fortune, now based in your house of honors, awards, and achievements. The ancient astrologers used to call this area of the chart the house of dignity—the part of the chart that brings you prestigious acclaim, the place where you make your greatest contribution to society in your lifetime and where, as you grow within your chosen career, you can aim to become a leader in your field. This month, the full moon will unlock Jupiter’s goodness, and money you rightly earned should flow to you. Work to finish up your biggest initiations and dealings in the first half of the month.
Your very best day for love will be October 21, when Venus in the divine-for-Pisces sign of Scorpio will receive dazzling beams from your ruling planet Neptune. That will be a Monday, but this configuration is strong and beautiful, so you will start to feel the glow over the weekend of October 19-20. You will enjoy romance the way you like it best—tender, soft, poetic, and lyrical for Neptune would have it no other way for you.
The reason I say that is that Mercury will go retrograde from October 31 to November 20 in your ninth house of the media, legal matters, academia, and long-distant travel. This is where you are likely to see confusion, mix-ups, delays, or postponements. Mercury is the planet of logic and objective reasoning, and when retrograde, his powers dim, and we don’t have the full help from Mercury that we need. The world spins on all the talents that Mercury bestows to us. We become forgetful, so we lose things (like a cell phone in the back of a taxi), or we rush and don’t fully understand what we have recently agreed to in a meeting. I ask you not to sign any contracts while Mercury is retrograde, for if you do you will find the need to renegotiate or refine certain points later, if that would even be possible.
Also, if you need a car, computer, audio system, headphones, a new smart phone, or other electronic item, including games, buy it now, in the first half of October. You will start to feel Mercury’s slowdown and haywire effects on everyday matters as soon as October 21. Anything with moving parts (which Mercury rules) and electronic products (also ruled by Mercury) start to show wear during these retrogrades, and you will likely find yourself at a repair shop at some point in November. If you buy your car, machine, or electronic item now, you may choose the wrong model, or a new one may suddenly appear weeks after your purchase, and it will be too late to make an exchange. Suffice to say you will buy your car, machine, or electronic item now, up to October 15 or so, or wait until the very end of November—Black Friday (a big retail day in America) or Cyber Monday (the first work day after the American Thanksgiving holiday). Last year, both dates were spoiled with Mercury retrograde, but this year you will have an open road.
We now come to the difficult new moon October 27 when you might have problems with ninth house activities. Let’s start with a contract that a publisher or broadcasting company may show you. You may be horrified by the terms you are being asked to agree to and will want to change all or some of the language. If you get the contract early in October, discuss it first with your lawyer and then with the other party. This is the time you are likely to change what you want. However, stay far away from the monster new moon, October 27.
The reason I worry about that new moon is that Uranus in Taurus at four degrees will directly oppose the new moon in Scorpio at four degrees. This is a direct, tight opposition, and because Uranus is the planet of all things unanticipated, you will need to handle all matters as though you are dealing with nitroglycerine. If you push too hard, the entire agreement and possible partnership will fall apart. Everybody of every sign will have some sort of problem with this new moon, so keep that in mind—people may be a little fragile at that time.
The ninth house also rules travel, and perhaps it would be best to travel earlier in the month. Not only is Uranus acting like a lunatic at the new moon October 27 (strong for ten days), you also will be close to the start of Mercury retrograde, October 31. I travel all the time during Mercury retrograde, but if the trip is important with a lot is riding on having a superb outcome, but has many complex moving parts, then I do avoid Mercury retrograde.
Your ninth house, which will become a bit of a hot area of your chart, also rules publishing and broadcasting. If you are due to go to press with an expensive printing job, do all you can to get that done prior to October 22 at the latest. If you must print when Mercury is retrograde, have several eyes look at the material being printed. Once, I printed one of my calendars with Mercury retrograde, but my designer and my editors never noticed we stopped August on August 30 instead of August 31. OMG. As my mother would tell me, man learns though pain. I will never make that mistake, or anything like it again!
You are lucky that Scorpio, the sign of this difficult new moon, is a sign that blends beautifully with your Pisces Sun sign. As a matter of fact, if your birthday falls on February 23, plus or minus five days, you will find a way to turn the tables and benefit from the events that happen. If you have either Pisces rising, the natal moon in Pisces, or another natal planet in Pisces, Scorpio, or Cancer four degrees, plus or minus four degrees, you, too, will figure out any challenge you are confronted with suddenly and actually rise stronger than before.
Will you have time for love in October? Yes! Admittedly you will be busy, but you are feeling in the mood for love, and that is exactly when lovely things start to happen. Venus, the love-me planet, will be in Scorpio from October 8 to November 1, a perfect place for Venus to be to engender romance. Venus is also the planet of beauty and attractiveness, so while Venus is in Scorpio, choose some new wardrobe items to welcome the new season. Women Pisces may want to try out new makeup colors, and Pisces men might want to talk to their barber about whether to grow a beard, and if so, what type would look best.
Your very best day for love will be October 21, when Venus in the divine-for-Pisces sign of Scorpio will receive dazzling beams from your ruling planet Neptune. That will be a Monday, but this configuration will be strong and beautiful, so you will start to feel the glow over the weekend of October 19-20. You will enjoy romance the way you like it best—tender, soft, poetic, and lyrical for Neptune would have it no other way for you.
Your ruling planet will help spin a dream of love you might always remember. Single or attached, all Pisces will love the days that span October 19-21.
Pisces is considered an artistic, sensitive sign, and your world is often one comprised of imaginative ideas, dreams, and creative expressions. There is a reason that through the ages, Pisces consistently wears the badge of the most artistic creature of the zodiac. Although studies in Forbes magazine show Pisces and Virgo are the signs most likely to become the wealthiest of the zodiac, I feel the reason for this is because you keep your eye fixed on the quality of all you create, rather than becoming overly involved with money management, which you usually leave to other people you hire. At the same time, you know you have to be present when large financial decisions are being discussed, for no one else can ever know what your wishes would be on every matter.
This is one of those rare months where you must grab the reins and become very much involved with financial decisions and the management of funds because a plethora of heavenly bodies have migrated into your eighth house of other people’s money. As the month opens, you might be negotiating a large deal for a creative project you crafted (or soon will). Or you may be hearing about a commission, royalty payment, or licensing fee that is about to be wired to you. This month, you might want to speak with your banker about a mortgage or bank loan or pitch several venture capitalists to secure funding of your new business. If so, your timing will be perfect.
Mars will be in Libra from October 3 to November 18, and the simple presence of Mars in your eighth house does suggest you will see your spending increase noticeably. You may be investing in your business now so that you can make money later, and that could explain your temporary increase in cash flow. Or you may be investing in yourself, such as to go to graduate school so that later you can aim for positions that require that degree. No matter, you appear to be on the correct track. You might confer with your financial advisor and lawyer to advise you on major deals and decisions, too.
By the friendly full moon, October 13 in Aries, it appears you will conclude talks and come to an agreement. You may receive a large sum of money at this time for work you completed, for Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, will beam the full moon with shimmering vibrations, and money will almost magically appear in your bank account. There have been times in the past that you had to scramble for money, but those days are behind you—you are about to see the harvest to all your hard work, and no one can say you didn’t deserve it. This year, with Jupiter shining at the very top of your chart, your reputation for excellence is spreading far and wide, so this full moon may be a special moment that generates both respect and money.
Finish your financial talks within four days of that encouraging full moon, for soon, Mercury will retrograde—from October 31 to November 20. If you are buying or selling property, starting a business, or having a product launch, you will do best from October 1 to 22. No later.
You may need to travel in late October, but if so, avoid the new moon in Scorpio, October 27, and the two weeks that follow. This new moon and Sun will be challenged by Uranus, the planet of unpredictability. You might see an overseas trip canceled or postponed for now, or a writing or speaking project may need more edits and adjustments than you had presumed. If you work with legal matters, you may have to change your approach to a court case you are working on when the other side brings up a surprise nobody saw coming.
All this is part of life. You’ve seen these types of surprises come out of the blue occasionally, and you are becoming skilled at making adjustments. You are a mutable sign, which means you are flexible by nature and well-suited to any kind of change the universe may send your way, an ability that is one of your assets.
One sweet day for romance to put a gold star on will be Monday, October 21, when Venus in Scorpio will receive glamorous beams from your ruler Neptune, planet of unconditional love. You will feel the energy of Venus and Neptune building in strength over the weekend of October 19 -20, sure to make it special.
