A Note from Susan Miller
This will be a big month, for we have two major eclipses, one July 2 in Cancer, and the other July 16 in Capricorn. Eclipses are a big deal in astrology, because they are the most dramatic tool the universe uses to shake us awake and create instant change. If you know your rising sign, read for that sign as well, for both forecasts would apply to you, and you will have a 360-degree picture of the month ahead.
Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
In July, give yourself over completely to matters of love and creativity. In between happy times, you might a need to decide about a friend who may have betrayed you, for this month brings the possibility for a surprising revelation. Two eclipses are due on July 2 and July 16, and the first, which will be mainly a sweet one, will light your fifth house of love, and the second, possibly somewhat troublesome eclipse, will accent your eleventh house of friendship two weeks later. Let’s look at the month in detail.
The month starts off with a sweet and mainly positive new moon solar eclipse—a total eclipse of the Sun—in Cancer, 11 degrees. Cancer is a sign that blends well with yours, for it is a water sign like Pisces, so it will ultimately work to your favor. Solar eclipses are famous for opening new doors and creating fresh starts, and this one will light your fifth house of truelove, set to bring new experiences and a richer emotional life.
If you are single, you might meet someone new and intriguing who you would like to know better. You would most likely meet at a social event. Alternatively, you might meet on a short trip, such as the distance between Los Angeles and Ojai, New York City and the Hamptons, Tokyo and Kyoto, or in Greece, the distance between Athens and Santorini or Crete. You would not likely meet at work, so in your off hours put a little extra effort into your appearance. Cupid and his little fleet of angels will be near, dear Pisces.
If you are already attached, you will have fun with your one-and-only as well as with your children. A family vacation taken in early July would be very special, for your children will keep you in stiches, and the warmth you’ll feel will stay with you long after your trip is over.
If you hope to have a baby, this eclipse could make that dream come true soon, within the coming six months. If you have been trying to conceive to no avail, see a fertility doctor in August when matters of health will shine for you. It is also possible that someone close to you in your family will be having a baby and will need you to help her, something you will likely be thrilled to do.
This same eclipse could bring up a highly imaginative project that seems tailor-made for you. You may have had interviews with a client for this assignment in June or even earlier, but even if you didn’t, this assignment will likely come through within days after the eclipse of July 2. Neptune will be the most perfectly positioned planet in your chart all month, and as your ruler, Neptune is a key planet to watch. Neptune rules the arts, creativity, and unconditional love, and in early July, Neptune will shower you with one or all of his gifts.
If your birthday falls on February 28, plus or minus four days, you will feel this eclipse more directly than your Pisces friends whose birthdays fall later, in March. The same is true if you have Pisces rising 11 degrees or the natal moon in Pisces of the same degree, plus or minus five degrees.
My favorite day of the month for a career interview for you will be July 25, when Mars will receive a golden beam from Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck. Use this day for an interview, presentation, or other important action.
Venus will make this a romantic time too, by moving into Cancer, your truelove sector, from July 3 to July 27, a time you will be your most magnetic and charismatic, so plan to circulate then. Mercury will be retrograde from July 7 to July 31, so If you hope to rekindle a past love, the entire period would glow and apply to you. If you’re unfamiliar with Mercury retrograde, during these periods, your judgement will be off.
Although Mercury does not officially start to retrograde until July 7, to last until July 31, you already are too late to avoid the haywire effect of miscommunication, delays, and backtracking that Mercury is known to bring. In July, do not launch a new venture, hire a new executive, or make any other key decisions. Your priorities will likely shift during the retrograde period, and with the eclipses coming, you may add or delete someone on your list. If you use the qualifiers you previously used to make a decision, you will make missteps, for some will be out of date. Later, you might ask yourself, what was I thinking?
Mercury rules contracts, but when Mercury is retrograde, this planet will withhold his greatest powers of communication. Some important clauses may be unclear, or the contract may not address certain areas, and those missing clauses might become problematic later. It is a rule when Mercury is retrograde that any contract you sign now would have to be renegotiated later, which is often a tricky proposition. If you hire an important executive, that person may turn out to have talents in an area you don’t need but lack expertise in the very area you need covered. You may be forced to hire another manager to supplement the expertise that you originally assumed the executive you hired could provide. Yikes.
Do not buy electronic items or machines in July, for Mercury rules the spark in electronics and the moving parts in machines. That means you would be wise to wait until August to go shopping for the computer, a smart phone, automobile, or kitchen appliance, as some examples.
My favorite days for you to shop next month for a machine or anything electronic will be August 21, 26, and 29, for if you do, you will love the product you choose.
I might as well tell you about a day when, if you work in the media, you could make mistakes in a manuscript or broadcasting segment—July 11. On that day, everyone will notice tension in the air, for unpredictable Uranus will stand toe-to-toe with warrior Mars, a hot aspect that could create a meltdown. If you must criticize someone, use a caring, gentle touch.
Another day to avoid scheduling an important interview, presentation, or even a first date will be July 29, when Uranus will be at odds with the Sun. You may suddenly be criticized for something you wrote or have problems with a troll on social media. This is not a day to schedule an interview. Choose a better day.
Now let’s turn to the full moon lunar eclipse due on July 16 in Capricorn, 24 degrees, to light your eleventh house of friendship. This eclipse is tied to the one that occurred January 5 in Capricorn, a new moon, and it might bring the discussion you had then to a new, advanced level. Saturn, the taskmaster planet that gives a weighty, heavy tone was prominent then and will be now, again.
Think of eclipses as a heat-seeking missile that searches for weak links. If an eclipse finds something, it will bring that situation to your attention. If a friend had betrayed you, you likely discovered that back in January, but it seems you may have decided to do nothing. You might hear something now, in July, and if you do, unlike in January, you seem ready to leave the friendship or to confront her, something often painful for a Pisces to do.
An eclipse in earth-sign Capricorn blends exceedingly well with your water-sign element, so anything that you learn will work in your favor and protect you, (You might like what you hear, but even if you don’t, the eclipse will support your interests, even if you can’t quite see the truth of that initially.)
Powerful Pluto will conjunct the moon, so your friend may know exactly what to say to keep you in your place, and she might deny everything—in other words, your friend might be manipulative. (I refer to your friend as a she because a lunar eclipse and the moon always points to a woman.)
During an eclipse—any eclipse—a person is sometimes quite literally eclipsed out and leaves your life. This may happen here, but it all depends on how your relationship has been going all along and what you learn. If a friend is not the subject of your thinking, it might be your membership in a group that troubles you and the way one of the leaders treats you. You may need time to think, so take all the time you need to decide what to do. Make sure what you learn is accurate, for with Mercury retrograde, facts could be distorted and information miscommunicated.
If your birthday falls on March 15, plus or minus five days, you will feel this July 16 lunar eclipse. The same is true if you have Pisces rising or the natal moon in Pisces, in either case, 24 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. If you have a natal planet in Pisces or Virgo, or Cancer or Capricorn, you, too, will feel this eclipse, provided it is at 24 degrees, plus or minus five degrees.
Now let’s turn to your career, for you appear to be dealing with plenty of work in July and August. Mars will light up your sixth house of assignments in July and continue to do so until August 17. It seems you may be waving goodbye to friends as they go off to their weekend cottages while you stay back to finish all that needs to get done. You will be flattered to be chosen for such important assignments, and you’ll be highly productive. Later you will have impressive results to show for your efforts.
As mentioned earlier, the only tough days you might encounter are when Mars will oppose Uranus on July 11 or when Uranus is in hard angle to the Sun, July 29. It seems you have an active September through December coming up, so you appear to be preparing for a launch or to unveil another major project now. While others play, you will work, and later no one will be able to figure out how you managed to pull off such a victory. It’s easy. You did it the old-fashioned way—by bearing down and concentrating. With Mercury retrograde there will be some backtracking, but it shouldn’t be too time consuming if you keep watch on what the team is doing.
My favorite day of the month for a career interview for you will be July 25, when Mars will receive a golden beam from Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck. Use this day for an interview, presentation, or other important action. Jupiter is in your prestigious tenth house of honors, awards, and achievements, and Mars is currently in your workaday sector. These two will be linked in a trine, considered the most harmonious aspect possible. In this case, work you do on a project could easily lead to admiration, applause, and publicity to boost your career. You might hear about the details of the job now, or you may have already started it and will actually be handing it in soon. Circle the date in gold, July 25.
In month that has more aspects than I can count, there is one more big one. To close the month, in comes a positive new moon, July 31, in Leo, the second new moon of the month, only this one is not an eclipse. This new moon will give you a welcome green light on a vital new project that you will be working on almost instantly in early August. You will have Mars, Venus, the Sun, and new moon all in Leo, your workaday sector, and you will have plenty of interesting work, too.
Best of all, Jupiter is in Sagittarius, your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievements, and will be directly linked to this new moon along with the Sun, Venus, and Mars in Leo, your sixth house of assignments. The work you do after July 31 will have the power to bring you quite a bit of acclaim, so do your very best. Mercury goes direct on July 31, so you will have an open road with only blue skies ahead.
Having said that, Uranus will be in hard angle to that group of planets in Leo from his position in the third house of communication. Uranus brings unexpected developments, so you might miss an error in your manuscript that you, or your client, finds after you’ve gone to press. Expensive mistakes like that can show up after this new moon, so to protect yourself, have an extra pair of eyes take a look at everything you write for publication.
Also, if you are asked to sign a contract, it will be vital to show it to your lawyer. As my mother used to say, act in haste and repent in leisure. With a month holding two eclipses, Mercury retrograde in your assignment house, and a sometimes cranky, unpredictable Uranus in your contracts and communication sector, you will need legal advice. This is no time to try to save money on a lawyer’s fees!
The last time we saw eclipses come by it was January 5 in Capricorn and January 20 in Leo (the last in the Leo-Aquarius series), but now you find yourself back in eclipse season, as is common every six months. The first eclipse, in the compatible-to-Pisces sign of Cancer, will arrive on July 2, and it will focus on your personal, emotional, and romantic life.
Eclipses often bring a change in lifestyle and open a new path, and this one seems to bring that as well as more responsibility, as Saturn will oppose the new moon and Sun at the same time. This could mean that you will commit to a closer, more exclusive relationship with the person you are dating and love. With eclipses, change can go either way, so if you have been quite unhappy and feel you are not compatible, you may decide to break up.
There are other possibilities. You may decide to get pregnant (or find out that indeed, you are already pregnant), or a member of your family may become pregnant or give birth and ask for your assistance in caring for her baby. Any promise you make during this eclipse will continue a long while, due to Saturn’s strong presence, but all this may give you great joy. Uranus, the planet of unexpected developments, will be very friendly to the Sun and new moon on July 2, indicating the possibility for a sweet surprise coming as a fun, quick trip in the days that follow the solar eclipse or a chance romantic meeting if you are single.
A third option (or the way the solar eclipse of July 2 may play out) is that a new creative project may burst into your life, one that totally captures your imagination. Neptune, your ruler, will be the friendliest planet to you all month and will send inspirational beams to the Sun and new moon solar eclipse, suggesting you are about to create something unique and quite special.
The second eclipse will arrive as a full moon lunar eclipse July 16 in Capricorn, and this time will draw your attention to a friend who may be quite pushy. You may have evidence that she has betrayed you, or she may be insistent that you listen to her even if everything inside you is telling you to resist (lunar eclipses always point toward women). Pluto will conjunct the moon and oppose the Sun, suggesting you will feel that your friend’s demands, manipulations, or actions are outrageously unfair. If it turns out not to be a friend who presses on you, then it might be one of the leaders of a club you belong to who will become a thorn in your side.
Mars and Uranus will be at odds too, adding tension in the days on and near July 11, and might affect you on July 16 (plus or minus four days), so this certainly would not be the best time to take a trip. Much could go wrong, and besides, it seems a lot will be happening at the office, with friends, and at home where you will be needed. Even though you will be working hard and see a lot of commotion in the second half of July, your professional standing in your industry and the world will grow to greater heights.
The month will end on a happy note. On July 31, a second new moon will appear (not an eclipse) and bring news of an exciting, creative, prestigious assignment. Good-fortune Jupiter, shining in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievements, suggests this project will elevate your reputation and open the door to more complex, sophisticated work. The work you do after this new moon arrives, from July 31 through the first two-weeks of August, will have the power to bring you much applause. Uranus will again be acting up, so be careful before sending in any written work to a client, management, or the printer, for if it goes to press and you have to reprint, you’ll be mortified. Have extra eyes look at all your work, and if asked to sign a contract, ask for the advice of a lawyer before you sign.
This same new moon will be the finest one in the year to start a new fitness program or to learn a new sport. Working out will keep you calm and your mind clear, so look into possibilities on July 31 or begin in early August.
