Monthly News from Susan Miller
This is a big month! Two eclipses are due, the one April 30 was a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus, and it will affect you for six months or more. The second eclipse will be a total eclipse of the moon (lunar full moon eclipse) in Scorpio, and it will affect you near the time it will occur because full moons tend to deliver news quickly and bring conclusions or endings—something ends and something else begins. Two weeks later, a sweet new moon (not an eclipse) in Gemini will appear on May 30. That is not half of what’s happening in May!
Your May Horoscope for Pisces
These days it’s really good to be a Pisces. You’ve been so busy planting seeds for the future that you may not have noticed the enormous control you have over events, and you are about to see considerable reward for all your hard work, good judgment, and beautiful sense of style. Mars, the planet of courage, determination, and progress, is in Pisces until May 24 and gives you powerful energy and presence—people notice you and want to hear what you have to say. One or two qualified experts will want to advise you to help get to where you want to be.
When you have Mars in your sign, you have the right of way. The other little signs step back and let you go through to the front. You are the leader, and so many of your ideas are complimented, affirmed, and in many cases funded. It is as if you have a magic wand where others fall in line and agree with you. Of course, life is rarely this way, but while you have it in the coming weeks, take full advantage. Don’t be afraid to voice your ideas and rally support from others. Ask for what you need—the universe is listening.
Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, is in his last days in Pisces, a privilege you had in 2021 from May 13 to July 28. After that, Jupiter returned to Pisces on December 28/29, 2021, until now. He will leave your sign this month on May 10. Jupiter will be back for one more shot of dazzling luck from October 27 to December 20, 2022. The first part of this period will bring Jupiter retrograde (October 27 to November 23), but Jupiter will then go direct on November 23 and be strong until December 20, 2022, ensuring you a happy holiday period.
Once Jupiter departs on December 20, 2022, he will not be back to Pisces for more than a decade, not until April 2033. This means if there is any VIP you still need to see to present your ideas, you must do so with a sense of urgency before Jupiter departs on May 10. You will, however, get one more chance during your last golden Jupiter period, November 23 to December 20, 2022.
During the time Jupiter spent with you in Pisces last year and this year, you scored many victories, both in your personal, emotional life and in your working, professional life. When Jupiter tours your sign, it often marks a crazy busy period, so you may not have had time to consider how potent a period this has been for you. You will understand later, in hindsight, when those seeds you planted will grow as tall as the beans in Jack and the Beanstalk. You won’t need to wait long to see the fruits of your labor, either.
Jupiter has to go somewhere in your chart, and you will love where he is going. This planet of magnificent generosity and growth is moving to Aries, your solar second house of earned income, so clearly, you are about to enter the best financial year of your life. Jupiter will be in this financial part of your chart from May 10 to October 27, and then again from December 20, 2022, to May 16, 2023. Like anything else in astrology, you need to make an effort to see rewards, but if you do, the universe will offer you its helping hand to bring you to the top of the mountain.
Jupiter will give you plenty of time to build profits and see perhaps the best financial year in decades. Jupiter has not been in this part of your chart since 2010, but back then you didn’t have as much support as you do now from transiting planets. Most of the money you will see will be from projects you started last year up through May 10 of this year. This trend has nothing to do with gambling or winning the lottery—the house being accented is the house of earned income, and that’s good news. If you can manage to earn a million dollars, you will be able to earn two million dollars and more. No one can say you don’t deserve the money that will flow into your bank account or that you are just plain lucky. No, you will have earned it!
This is a very potent time for you. With Mars, Neptune, Venus, and Jupiter all moving through Pisces, you are in a glorious time to start new goals or assignments.
Much of the money you’ll earn will refer back to the seeds you planted during Jupiter in Pisces. That is why I said if there is someone you still need to see and present your proposal or ideas to, do it immediately, up to May 10 (and you will get a second chance from October 27 to December 20 when Jupiter comes back, being extra-strong from November 23 to December 20, 2022).
Jupiter will be in Aries after May 10, and that’s a get-up-and-go, can-do entrepreneurial sign. If you are starting your own business or placing something on the market that is new and innovative that you have developed, it would be right in line with the ethos of Jupiter in Aries. The world runs on ideas, and now it’s time to materialize those ideas and allow your imagination full range. You can find people who have the expertise to help you—you don’t have to know how to fit all the piece of the puzzle into place. Steve Jobs, a Pisces, was not an engineer, yet his instinct led him forward. Software engineers he hired helped him materialize his vision, and he wound up changing the world.
In a normal year we get four eclipses, and some years hold as many as seven or eight eclipses, but those years are a little more difficult navigate—eclipses often require an adjustment to changing conditions. This year is normal, though, and we get four eclipses.
Eclipses always come in pairs, coinciding with a new moon and full moon, two weeks apart. All eclipses are strong—they can move mountains. In fact, eclipses are the most powerful method the universe uses to create rapid change. They arrive in a family of signs, and the current series is in water-sign Scorpio and earth-sign Taurus, signs that blend well with your Pisces Sun. That alone is a comfort—it suggests that the changes the eclipses bring will work to your favor. A series of signs lasts 18 to 24 months.
Later, there will be two more eclipses in 2022 in the same family of signs, in Taurus and Scorpio, and those will come on October 25 (Scorpio) and November 8 (Taurus). Next year there will be two more eclipses in the same Taurus-Scorpio series on May 5, 2023, and October 28, 2023. After that, the eclipses will be moving on to a new family of signs. You would not feel all the eclipses in a series the same way, only the ones that touch the mathematical degree of your Sun, natal moon, or one of the natal planets in your birth chart.
Now let’s talk about the first one, a new moon solar eclipse that occurred on April 30, 2022, one day before the beginning of May. It appeared in Taurus, 10 degrees, that will affect you for at least six months, possibly longer. Uranus, the planet of all things unexpected, arrived tightly conjunct the Sun and new moon. Something unexpected already came up or soon will. You may have encountered a glitch in negotiations that you never saw coming. If you are working internationally, the problem may stem from that area—a project you are doing overseas could bring a dilemma. However, because Taurus blends well with your Pisces Sun sign (water and earth produce flowers), you can dissolve almost any obstacle and make it work for you. This is a new moon, however, so untangling the problem could take time.
Alternatively, you may have unexpectedly lost a steady writing job because sometimes an eclipse will “eclipse out” a marginal element in your life that is no longer relevant for your future. The third house, where this eclipse appeared, is all about communication, and for months, you’ve had a lot of emphasis on writing, editing, speaking, translation, library research, or studying lines for acting. This month you may be dealing with a miscommunication that has to be cleared up.
On the plus side, you have Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune—lovely planets—all conjunct and sending warm greetings to Mercury. Although some of those planets will have moved by the time you read this, what matters is at the time of the eclipse they were together, so the die is cast and will affect you as you move forward. These are such loving planets, and if you are involved in a creative project, they will help you. Collaborations will go very well, too.
You may have entered into an agreement where the project was very futuristic, perhaps in the digital world, or highly imaginative, having to do with film, augmented reality, virtual reality, smartphone apps, an e-book, the metaverse, gaming, driverless cars, or another similar project that is very high tech and innovative. That would have been the perfect area to enter into when Uranus conjoined with the Sun and new moon, as it did at the eclipse.
This eclipse occurred in your third house of agreements, so you may have signed a contract at the end of April or in early May. If so, it was a great time to sign, and no matter what that agreement covered, even outside of high tech, it was the right time to do so.
Mercury is about to go retrograde, from May 10 until June 3, so it would have been best if you signed papers last month or very early in May. I had mentioned that in my April report. You always have the option of putting off the signing until June 3, leaving a space of days. For signing papers, I like both June 10 and June 20.
Quick, short travel is in the picture too, but if traveling by car, you might need to tune up your car and also check the tires first. Bring it to your favorite mechanic to see if anything needs to be fixed before you head out. Going to the repair shop is common when Mercury is out of phase. Mercury rules the moving parts of machines and the spark of electronics, which is why you should never buy a car or any machine or electronic item during Mercury retrograde. You will likely not experience the pleasure from that machine that you would if you were to purchase it at other times.
The third house, where this eclipse will fall, also rules your sister or brother, so you may see your sibling prominent at this eclipse. If you are close, you may be planning to vacation together. Alternatively, you might be working together in a business or buying property with your sibling.
You will find that anything that happens on an eclipse tends to have great longevity, importance, and impact. Often an eclipse will open a whole new world, and this solar eclipse can do that for you in the weeks and months to come.
The reason I am so happy about this eclipse is that Mars is so perfectly positioned to the Sun, new moon solar eclipse in Taurus, and Uranus from his position in Taurus. This is no small advantage! Mars is like the gas you put in your car to make it go—things begin to happen when energetic Mars is active and focused on other planets. Together, that group of plants will support you. To have Mars in such a good angle to the Sun, eclipsed new moon, and Uranus is wonderful!
Additionally, the fact that Mars is in Pisces for the first time in two years tells me you are starting a new energetic cycle. You assume life is just normal, but that’s not true—this is a very potent time for you. With Mars, Neptune, Venus, and Jupiter all moving through Pisces, you are in a glorious time to start new goals or assignments. As mentioned in my April report, Venus was meeting with Neptune, still close as you read this, and Venus rules both your communication sector AND your eighth sector of other people’s money.
If you work on commission, year-end bonus, royalty, or licensing fee, you will make quite a bit of money. Even if you don’t work on that basis, you can negotiate an excellent benefits package when you start a job or get a promotion—for example good health insurance or flex time where you can work from home most of the week. Venus and Jupiter are both tied to happiness and luxury and also to profits—yes, Venus too. Your chart is on fire when it comes to money.
The Pisces that will feel this eclipse the most are those born within five days of February 28 or those with Pisces rising or their natal moon in Pisces at 10 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. Also check to see if you have any natal planet within five degrees of 10 degrees of Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn.
New let’s go to the total lunar full moon eclipse on May 15/16 in Scorpio, 25 degrees, your intellectual ninth house. The area you may be focused on could include finishing a writing, publishing, or broadcasting/digital segment. You may see the end of a legal action, or you may be talking with your lawyer about a contract. Again, you should try not to sign yet because Mercury is still retrograde. You will be able to sign soon, after June 3. An international relationship or situation may be on your mind, but because this is a full moon, it can now get resolved.
Let’s look at more ways that this eclipse may affect you in addition to the ones I listed above. You may need to travel overseas or a great distance, or start to prepare for that trip now. The ninth house is an exciting area of the chart because it expands our understanding of the world around us.
You may go to a seminar that gives you deeper understanding of the industry you are in now or hope to enter soon. You may make an application to a university for undergraduate or graduate school now, or you may be getting your diploma. You may defend your thesis at this eclipse and get approval for your concept. You may have jury duty and become enlightened by the inner workings of the courts system. As I mentioned earlier, things that happen at eclipse time tend to have a long-lasting effect and often mark life events that we long remember and feel changed by.
I love that Mars, still in Pisces, and Pluto in Capricorn will both be friendly to the total eclipse of the moon in Scorpio because Mars and Pluto rule Scorpio. This is amazing! How about that—you have both rulers of Scorpio on your side! This is such a good sign that the final resolve of this eclipse, no matter what comes up, will have a positive outcome for you.
If you are thinking, wait, Mars was friendly to the first solar eclipse (April 30) at 10 degrees, so how could Mars also be friendly to the lunar eclipse at 25 degrees? The answer is that Mars is at a healthy speed and just happens to be in the perfect position both times. Mars is in Pisces, giving you more control over events.
Pluto’s position in your eleventh house of friendship and groups of all kinds suggests you might make a powerful, self-made friend at an event you attend (convention, charity dinner, wedding, anniversary party, and so forth). At this event, you may meet someone who has the right expertise to be a help to you regarding a personal or professional goal you are working on now and will feel lucky to have made this person’s acquaintance.
There is a downside to this lunar eclipse. Saturn in Aquarius will be tightly square the Sun in Taurus and full moon in Scorpio. Saturn could add responsibility to your shoulders, and you may find yourself working hard behind closed doors, to block out distraction, on a project. Or you may feel that something is going on behind the scenes, activities you are not privy to but that are complicating your life. You may need to untangle what has come up. Saturn can be draining, so make sure you watch your health by eating nutritiously and getting enough rest.
Mars and Neptune will be conjunct, and both send the Sun and lunar eclipse sweet greetings, helping artistic expression.
The Pisces that will feel this eclipse most are those with a birthday that falls on March 15, plus or minus five days, or have their natal moon in Pisces or have Pisces rising at 25 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. If you know your chart, look to see if you have a planet within five degrees of 25 degrees in Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn—if you can find a planet in this category, that planet will work hard for you.
Now let’s look at what Mars is doing. Mars will move into Aries on May 24 until July 4 and start to cause more spending while in your second house of personal money. This will drive costs up, but it may be that you already know you have a big expense coming up, such as tuition payment, money for your child’s camp, or a vacation you’ve been looking forward to taking and is nearing. When Mars is in this position, it also means you will be more motivated to find ways to make more money. Mars will be meeting up with good-fortune Jupiter in this same sector of your chart—big news.
Now here are the details of this big news. On Sunday, May 29, Mars and Jupiter will conjoin. They meet every two years on one day but always in a different sign. (Note: You will feel this day as you get closer to May 29, from Wednesday, May 25, to May 29.) Mars is all about action, and Jupiter’s about profits—on May 29 and the days leading to it, actions will likely lead to profits. Mars and Jupiter are meeting in Aries, your house of money, and that’s like getting a double dip of good fortune for earning and growing ways to make money.
Jupiter and Mars rarely meet in Aries. The last time was May 1, 2011, and the time before that was June 16, 1975. After this month, it will not happen again—Jupiter conjunct Mars in Aries—until April 12, 2058.
With planets in Aries, you may be working on an entrepreneurial project, and that would fit in perfectly. I will remind you that if you are starting a business or launching a new product in your existing business—plan now, but act after Mercury goes direct June 3. Alternatively, you may have started training for an athletic competition, such as a marathon, or if you play professionally, to train for an upcoming contest
Just in case you think nothing else could possibly happen this month—there is!
A new moon is due on May 30 in Gemini, 9 degrees. This new moon is not an eclipse, just a sweet new moon. Jupiter, by then in Aries, and Mars, also in Aries, will be beautifully oriented (a sextile) to the new moon and Sun, indicating seeds you plant now should eventually yield an abundant harvest in terms of good return on your work and investment. This new moon will give an opportunity to move ahead on home and family goals. If you want to move or sell property, you will have some of your best ability to find options. You may be taking this time to buy new furniture, make repairs, have the painters paint several rooms, or start a renovation on your kitchen.
Mercury rules Gemini (the sign of this new moon) and will receive a lovely beam from Pluto. Pluto rules renovations, so if you plan to be ripping out walls or changing the structure of your space, Pluto will help you. Pluto is also a financial planet, so a mortgage might not be too difficult to get if you have prepared for this moment.
It might not be property that you are thinking about, but instead, you may be focused on how you can help your mother or father find solutions to their needs as they age. You might find a home-care expert to live with them, or you might find a live-in caregiver to help out with everyday needs of grocery shopping and cooking, going to the doctor with your parent, and so forth. In another instance, it may be that a member of your family has just had a baby and needs help, and you volunteer to help care for the wee one. The point is, this new moon may find you jumping in to you help a family member. This is a good new moon—you will be able to solve dilemmas and be quite productive.
Watch to see what topic comes up at this time, for it may be a reliable indicator of what is coming in the second half of 2022. I say that because Mars will enter Gemini on August 20 and stay a whopping seven months, until March 25, 2023. The normal stay of Mars in any one sign is six or seven weeks, not seven months! This new moon may be quite telling of what is to come.
As you see you have a very big month!
This is an important point of the year for you for Mars is in Pisces, putting you in the driver’s seat. This is a privilege you get from Mars for approximately six weeks every two years. Mars first went into Pisces on April 14 and will remain in your sign until May 24. Your best part of the month will be the first week because Mercury, the planet of communication and negotiation, will go retrograde from May 10 to June 3.
Mercury retrograde is a good time to go back to earlier projects you had put aside or to reconnect with people from your past, but it’s not well suited for starting new projects, especially in the high tech or communications sector. It’s not the time to make a written agreement or sign a contract, for you would only have to change it later. If you need to make a binding agreement, do so early in the month or wait until several days after Mercury goes direct, June 3. (Never rush to act at the “bookend” dates—the start and end dates of a Mercury retrograde—for that is when Mercury is at his most mischievous.)
Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, has favored you for months, and you have been busy planting seeds for your future. Jupiter only graces a sign every 12 years for approximately a full year. You had Jupiter in Pisces last year, 2021, from May 13 to July 28 and then gain from December 28, 2021, to May 10, 2022.
Jupiter will leave Pisces this month to enter Aries on May 10 but will return to Pisces from October 27 to December 20, 2022. Jupiter will be retrograde from October 27 to November 23, so the best part of that period will be when Jupiter is moving direct from November 23 to December 20, 2022.
After December 20, 2022, Jupiter will not be back to Pisces until April 2033. No tears on your pillow about Jupiter’s departure, however, for Jupiter in Aries (after December 20) will fill your second house of earned income and bring you a financial bonanza in the coming months. It will be gratifying to see that much of the work you did earlier to prepare for future income will pay off, bringing an abundant harvest.
This will be especially clear if you work for yourself or if your main job is in sales. If you work for others, speak up for the salary you want, for you will likely get a raise at your present job or a better salary at a new job.
Now let’s look at the eclipses, which are falling in your two intellectual houses, your third and ninth houses. The two eclipses, which will be noticeable during May, come by on April 30 and May 16. Both are mainly friendly and may trigger much more travel than you’ve been able to do in the past few years.
The April 30 new moon solar eclipse may bring you new writing, editing, or speaking assignments or find you developing a new advertising, publicity, marketing, or social media campaign. Hurry to start things off early in the month for you will need to be mindful of Mercury’s impending retrograde, May 10 to June 3. If you need to launch something new, do so in June if you cannot launch in the first few days of May. Fair warning, though—we feel the onset of Mercury retrograde weeks before it actually turns. That’s the reason it would be best to act next month with a space of days after June 3.
The second eclipse, which is a total eclipse of the full moon, will arrive May 15/16 in Scorpio and light your ninth house of publishing, broadcasting, international relationships, and global import-export of ideas, goods, and services. This house also covers citizenship, passport, immigration, visa, and residency matters. It covers higher education in your pursuit of an advanced degree and also covers all legal matters.
A change or development could easily surface regarding one of these areas. Mars and Pluto will set the tone of this eclipse, and miraculously, both will be friendly to this full moon lunar eclipse. A friend may go out of his or her way to make an introduction or otherwise support you, unlocking good luck. You might make a new friend who is associated with money markets and has much experience with a goal you are trying to complete and may be very helpful. With most total eclipses of the moon, something ends, but something else begins.
In a very active month, you have still another new moon, but this one is not an eclipse. It will come by May 30 in Gemini and put your focus on your home or other property you might rent or want to buy (or that you already own). You also may be focused on your family. You may be anxious to make a change, make a decision, or take quick action, but keep in mind Mercury will retrograde in this very area of your chart, and you would be wise to wait until June to begin, leaving a space of days after June 3.
Watch what comes up, for it will give you clues of what you will be focused on when Mars enters an unusually long tour of Gemini from August 20, 2022, until March 25, 2023. Your home, a move, purchase or sale of real estate, or repair project (such as a fixer-upper or intense renovation of your property) could consume your thinking. Alternatively, an immediate family member may need your assistance, such as your sister (as an example of a close relative) who may have a newborn and needs your help.
Something is coming up, but this new moon will give you an idea of the type of emphasis that is coming later in the year. You have been spending a lot of time and attention on your career, so you may enjoy making stylish touches to your apartment or house and have time to nurture those who love you so dearly, your family.
