Remember, Mars will turn direct on February 23, and Mars will start to grow stronger with each day as he moves through Cancer. Mars will remain in Cancer, after going direct on February 23, until April 17. I feel you will enjoy that period very much.
Now let’s look deeper into January. As you begin the month, you have just come through a new moon in Capricorn, 10 degrees, on December 30. This new moon will affect you most powerfully in the first half of January.
A new moon is strong for nearly six months but decreases in strength ever so gradually until the full moon in the same sign takes over and the new moon relinquishes her powers to the full moon. (In this case, the Capricorn full moon will happen July 10.) This December 30 new moon will put you in in touch with your community and your friends. If you’ve been working mainly alone, January will be just the opposite—you will be surrounded by many smiling people. You may be helping a charity or participating in a humanitarian effort—Saturn’s predominant role suggests you will have a goal in mind, perhaps to raise awareness or funding for your cause.
This new moon is sweet as sugar. As said, Saturn will take the lead and will send a beautiful “sextile” (opportunity aspect) to the Sun and new moon. At the same time, Saturn will give weight and importance to your actions in the first half of January. Whatever you are doing, possibly through a group or club or community activity, will make a lasting impression. (Thank Saturn for that.) If you didn’t have the social month in December that you hoped to have, you will surely make up for that in January.
