Your January Horoscope for Pisces

How glorious it is to be a Pisces! The great planet of good fortune, Jupiter, entered Pisces just before the start of January on December 29, 2021, to stay for months, until May 10. Jupiter will return to Pisces and remain in your sign from October 27 to December 20 before he spins off, not to return again to Pisces until April 2033.

You are in your Emerald Year, a privilege that happens every 12 yeas. If you live to 96, you will get eight such sparkling years in your lifetime. You see how lucky this time is for you. Every Pisces of every birthday will benefit from this visit of Jupiter whose job it is to make you gloriously happy—he asks nothing in return from you. Jupiter reminds me of the jolly rotund uncle in the Nutcracker who comes bearing gifts in little turquois boxes for all the children as they gather around the giant Christmas tree. They are all are excited about the holiday, and the pockets of his coat bulge with gifts for them. They jump and dance around their uncle with glee. This, dear Pisces, is Jupiter.

In truth, Jupiter gave you a little preview of his coming visit last year, from May 13 to July 28, 2021. Any Pisces born early in the sign, in February, were the ones who most likely gained from Jupiter back then, but so did a Pisces who had a natal planet in Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces at 0 to 3 degrees. You might want to look back at your emails and photographs that came in during that stretch of time to jog your memory about what happened last year from mid-May through July.

Your strongest period within those months last year was from May 13 to June 20. After June 20, Jupiter when retrograde and became weaker. Did something happen last year that turned out to be extra special for you?

This year, from now through May 10, Jupiter will move at lightning speed and not go retrograde at all, which makes the early part of this year so spectacular. When Jupiter returns to Pisces on October 27, he will be retrograding from Aries into Pisces, and this is the reason Jupiter is coming back to you—he’ll be doing his backward slide into Pisces (which is not a bad thing).

Jupiter will go direct the following month, November 23, so that means that Jupiter will again be strong and helpful to you while he travels for the last time in Pisces from November 23 to December 20, 2022. Take note of that phase.

Your very best month in all of 2022 will be March when you experience the Luckiest Day of the Year on March 5. You will feel the energy grow starting from the last two weeks of February onward. It will be hard to match the thrill you’ll feel in early March. The new moon of March 2, coming only days before, will open the floodgates for all your good fortune.

The full moon on January 17 in Cancer, 28 degrees, will be simply divine. It could mark the most romantic time of the year for you. That new moon will shine in your fifth house of true love, and married or single, this could be a day for the record books.

Why do I say that March 5 is the Luckiest Day of the Year? It’s the day that Jupiter will align perfectly with the mighty Sun, an event that happens once a year, but each time they meet it is always in a different sign. It’s been over a decade since you had Jupiter conjunct the Sun in Pisces.

In order to take full advantage of all that Jupiter has to give you, you must know what you want to happen next for you. That might sound easy and quite obvious to most people, but I sometimes meet people of any sign that can’t quite pin down what they would like to happen next. Allow yourself to do focused daydreaming, dear Pisces.

You will receive a series of lucky breaks in 2022, ones that will allow you to get closer to your dream. In fact, you will be offered so many opportunities (in all phases of your life) that you may be tempted to agree to them all, but then stretch yourself too thin. Be choosy and pick the opportunities with the greatest growth potential and at the same time the ones that feed your soul.

Every area of your life stands to benefit. Your health will improve, and you will feel more energetic and optimistic. Your career will be able to progress like a rocket, and along with your growing, you will make excellent money—likely the most you’ve ever earned in any year. This is evidence of how valued you will be in the marketplace. Keep something in mind—the good money you will make will stem from the projects you choose in the coming months. You will be planting many seeds, and the ones you plant from February through mid-May will work out best. Those seeds will produce quite an abundant harvest, so much so that you may be amazed.

Love can flourish too, and if you are single, circulate starting in February through mid-May and at holiday time, from November 23 to December 20, for in 2022, you could easily find genuine, lasting love. The ancient astrologers pointed to Jupiter conjunct the natal Sun (an aspect you have in 2022) to be the best possible aspect in order to meet your truelove. Be optimistic and step out!

If you are attached, your love will grow and deepen, and you will have wonderful romantic fun together. (Remember that?) You may travel overseas this year too, and go to a city you’ve never seen. Of course, this is predicated that the pandemic lets up—we’ll have to see.

Now let’s bring our attention back to the present. January will be highly social and a sweet contrast to December where you worked hard and made solid—and at times exciting—career gains.

Those gains will continue to mount up in January because Mars will remain in Sagittarius during the lion’s share of the month. This is the first time in two years you’ve hosted Mars in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement, an enormous help to your career. Mars will remain in your prestigious career sector until January 24, so while you have him, make the most of his visit. You can elevate your career now, so keep the focus. If you need to get the attention of a VIP, this is the time to write the email, make the call, or ask a friend to make an introduction for you.

Friends will be heaven-sent for you, thanks to the new moon, January 2, which will open a portal of energy that you will feel now and in the weeks and months to come. January will have a soft, lyrical side that you’ve not seen in a while. You will hear from friends who will drag you away from your computer and ply you with marvelous invitations for small dinners and quickly arranged lunches. You miss your friends, and it will be clear they missed you, too.

The emphasis on seeing friends, making a new friend, being open to new contacts, and widening your influence in your community now will be the result of the new moon in Capricorn, 12 degrees, on January 2. A new moon in Capricorn blends beautifully with your Pisces natal Sun.

This new moon will be made more powerful by Uranus, planet of surprise, which will send an electric beam to the new moon, causing a surprise that will emanate from a friend. One friend could turn out to be amazingly helpful to you in any area of your life. Keep in mind that a new moon is very different from a full moon—a new moon has a very long tail and can affect you for weeks and months. All that you do in January will be important to set the tone that you will build on as you go through the year.

Your friends and contacts will take on a greater than usual role in your life for another reason. Mars is on his way to Capricorn, this same sector (eleventh house of friendships), to arrive on January 24 and will stay until March 6. If you are active on social media, you will find your community of followers will grow simultaneously. In short, you will be quite popular. Being the modest soul that most Pisces are, you may be a little bewildered at the attention you will be getting. Don’t think too much about it—just enjoy it.

The ancient astrologers loved the eleventh house, the place of the new moon on January 2 and where Mars is heading to energize. Those wise astrologers called the eleventh house “the house of joy,” for it is the magical sector that, when activated, makes dreams come true. Something you dearly want to materialize may happen this month, thanks to the new moon, and if you come close but don’t actually grasp the prize you are after, your possibility for achieving that goal will continue, thanks to Mars’ orbit in Capricorn through March 6.

All Pisces will benefit from the January 2 new moon, but I will say those with birthdays that fall March 1, plus or minus five days, will get a double dip of pleasure this month. The same is true if you have Pisces rising or your natal moon in Pisces at 12 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. Also, look to see if you have a natal planet in Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn at 12 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. If you can find one in your birth chart that fits the qualifier, that planet will work very hard for you—you will see benefits.

The full moon on January 17 in Cancer, 28 degrees, will be simply divine. It could mark the most romantic time of the year for you. That new moon will shine in your fifth house of true love, and married or single, this could be a day for the record books. I love that Uranus will again be active by sending Venus a brilliant beam from his perch in your third house of communication and travel, reaching Venus in your house of hopes and wishes. If single, Uranus will add the element of surprise and great chemistry between you and a new person who will give you tingles down your spine with just a smile or certain way this person looks at you.

January 17 is a full moon, but because a full moon has a plus or minus five days of influence, watch the weekend of January 15-16 as possibly pivotal to your romantic life as the energy of that aspect builds. Also, watch the days that follow January 17, namely January 18 to 22. Of course, you have to leave the house for anything to happen!

I have to add a bit of a disclaimer here, for Venus will be retrograde most of January, a trend that started December 19 and will continue to January 29. The Pisces who will least be affected by Venus retrograde are those who are attached, either married or dating someone for a length of time. Venus rules love, and when she is retrograde, she withholds her strongest powers, so new love will be most affected.

Still, let’s think about this a bit more in regard to single Pisces. For every other sign this is a downer, but for you, the outlook may be quite different. You have so many glittering aspects—Jupiter in Pisces, a powerful new moon in your house of hopes and wishes, Mars is here—this adds up to some very powerful beneficial aspects!

The way to handle Venus retrograde is to keep the new relationship on a very slow and gradual build. Don’t rush anything, even if you want to, or you will ruin your future relationship with this person. Slow and easy wins the day.

Don’t change your appearance dramatically, say by going from light blonde to dark brunette, or to cut your hair in a very different style. Men, don’t change your beard—wait to make changes in February. Certainly, this is not the time for either sex to have Botox or fillers—Venus has everything to do with your face.

If you have a product or service that you manage (or it is produced by your company) and you are getting ready to place it on the market, hold back with your advertising, promotion, and social media campaign. Venus is tied to profits, and when Venus is retrograde, you don’t want to debut a product for profits could well be lower than anticipated. In astrology, timing is everything. The day you debut anything is its birth, and the aspects that were at play at that time will remain in place for the entire term of that produce or service.

Mercury will also be retrograde, but in Aquarius, from January 14 to February 3. Mercury rules all agreements, both written and verbal in nature, so it would not be a good idea to sign any binding contracts during this period. I like February better—much better.

Also, during Mercury retrograde you should not buy electronic equipment, whether that be a computer, smart phone, camera dishwasher, refrigerator, or vacuum cleaner, or any other item that has electronic components or gears with moving parts (Mercury rules both). You have such a glorious month coming up in February, and the Sun will be in Aquarius, which rules the digital world and all electronics.

Uranus rules all things newly invented and is the natural ruler of Aquarius. This planet of surprise and innovation has been retrograding since August 19 but will go direct on January 18. This is good news, but you need to wait until you have better aspects in February before you shop. Wait until after February 3.

You have just entered one of the most important years of your life. Just a few days ago, on December 29, Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, entered Pisces for the first time in 12 years and will stay with you until May 10, 2022. At that point, Jupiter will enter Aries, but retreat back to Pisces from October 27 to December 20, 2022. Some of the associations you make when Jupiter is in Pisces will be pivotal to your progress and remain in your life for a decade or more, possibly forever. The ventures you put in place between now and mid-May will pay dividends for years to come. It is impossible to overestimate how powerful this period will be for you.

Many more people will enter your life in the coming months, and among them, aside from VIPs in all walks of life, will be a possible romantic interest. Jupiter conjunct the Sun is considered the finest aspect you could possibly have to find your one truelove. If you are single, you will be out and about more.

The new moon of January 2 will start the ball rolling, for it will appear in the most social portion of your chart. You will have the Sun, new moon, Venus, and Pluto in this house, which represents quite a bit of planetary power. Venus will increase your popularity both in real life and on social media. Uranus will send a beam to the Sun and new moon bringing a surprise call, text, or email from a friend that will make you happy. That friend will be helpful to you in a very noticeable way.

Another stellar moment of the month will arrive within five days of the full moon in Cancer January 17, set to light your house of true love. This falls on a Monday, so you may feel this full moon over January 15-16, a heavenly weekend for you. Neptune, your ruling planet, will send a lyrical beam to that full moon, indicating an enchanting time is in store. You may meet someone new at this time, or if you have been dating, bond closer in love. If you are married, you may be excited to welcome a new baby or to draw up plans for a child you have now.

In this happy month, your career will send up pretty fireworks in the night sky, too. Mars is currently in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement, boosting your reputation and spreading your influence. You may do an important interview in the press about your area of expertise, or you may be awarded a promotion or an offer of a new job from a competitive firm. Mars will remain in Sagittarius, your prestigious professional sector, until January 24, having first entered last month on December 13. You will have more than enough time to make your mark—with your planetary power, your name will be on everyone’s lips, and everyone will want you in their corner.
