Pisces Horoscope for January 2021

A Note from Susan Miller

Dear Reader,

Often when we start a new year, the outer planets stay in their same positions, so the look and feel of the coming year stays fairly the same. That does not happen in 2021! Jupiter and Saturn decided to both enter Aquarius two days apart last month, to make lengthy stays. Gradually, other planets will migrate away from Capricorn and into Aquarius—something you will see in February—and offer a lighter, breezier influence than what we have been used to.

The eclipses have moved away from Capricorn and Cancer too, into more mutable, flexible, and adaptable Gemini and Sagittarius. We will have three eclipse in those signs in 2021, and the start of in a new series, Taurus and Scorpio, when one arrives in Taurus this year. In 2020, we had a remarkable six eclipses (actually seven, if you count the December 25, 2019, eclipse that appeared one week before 2020), which means that the universe was asking us to make many sudden adjustments.

Your Horoscope by Susan Miller

There is plenty for you to cheer about in January and in the New Year. One of the most dramatic changes you will like is the move of Mars from Aries to Taurus on January 6, to stay until March 3. Taurus is an infinitely nicer place for Mars to be for you, and I have a very specific reason why I say that. To see the big picture, we need to go back to June 2020.

Back on June 27, Mars began a long journey through Aries, your second house of earned income, savings, spending, investment, and possessions. Mars in the second house is known to force up expenses and spending, and since Mars rules Aries, it was extra strong in that sign. Most people only deal with Mars in the second house for six to eight weeks, so having Mars in this house for six months had to have seemed endless and at times, stressful, too.

Part of the reason the red planet spent such a long time in that part of your solar chart was Mars was retrograde September 9 to November 13, a time it might have been hard to make progress. During that time, Mercury also went retrograde, from October 13 to November 3. Everyone felt the slowdowns and stubborn obstacles to progress.

Money is stored energy—you work, and in return your employer gives you money to compensate you for your efforts. If you are self-employed, the profits you make come from the energy you put into the assignment or work for a client. If you look at someone’s bills, you can see the values of that person—is it education, or toys and clothes for their tots? Is it take-out food, or plenty of Netflix movies on the credit card? Workout clothes or equipment? A few designer things or mostly leisurewear? I guess this is why detectives always study a suspect’s credit card bills to get a sense of that person’s lifestyle.

On top of this, Mars remained stuck in late degrees of Aries, in hard angle to powerhouse planet Pluto and tough-as-nails Saturn, so there may have been a lot of financial pressure on you, or if you were trying to get paid from a company or person who owed you, the other party was very difficult to deal with and went on the offensive, even though you were the on the side of the angels.

I am not sure why you were concentrating so strongly on earning more money and on managing cash flow over the past six months. Aries is the sign of the entrepreneur, so you may have been doing product development or investing in a new business. Pisces is a resourceful sign, highly flexible, and extremely imaginative and creative. If you are self-employed, you may have started a new company or product and needed to deal with lawyers, upfront deposits to get the project started, and so forth.

You may have changed accountants, and your new accountant may have required certain changes to your computer ledgers. Or you may have been saving up to buy a house or take a great vacation in 2022. You may have decided to go back to college or graduate school or to have a baby, or instead, maybe you were chipping away at a student loan to build an A+ credit rating.

You may have been working to make money stretch further due to the changes in the economy by the pandemic—it may have played havoc with your income and outgo. Mars, the energy planet—often called the warrior planet—can cause arguments with your spouse or roommate. Everyone was home all the time, so all that togetherness could have added to the stress.

The full moon will coincide with the Luckiest Day of the Year, January 28, when good-fortune Jupiter will conjunct the Sun. This ensures generous pay for an assignment and one that could have global appeal.

You may have been doing fine, but your spouse may have been working on a start-up business, or you or your partner may have lost a long-held job. There are many possible examples—I am just trying to surmise why you’ve been so focused on your finances.

The effects of the pandemic rippled through the world economy touching nearly everyone. When the rebuilding process occurs later in a post-pandemic world, governments will be tapped out of money, as virtually all have had to do considerable, but necessary, deficit spending. (After the meeting of Jupiter and Pluto that happed three times in 2020, which produced large stimulus packages, when these two planets part, and they’ll be far enough apart beginning January 12, it always means the money deflates afterwards.) If you work for a company that does not have a stable income, you need to begin to move to a more successful company. Start making inquiries.

If you didn’t have a project you were investing in and getting ready to bring to market, your emphasis on money may have been because you took over the household books. It’s also possible that someone was paying you in tardy fashion (or not paying at all), and you spent much of the second half of 2020 trying to wrangle your money from that person or company.

Thankfully, Mars will finally change signs when Mars enters Taurus on January 6 to stay until March 3. Your focus on financial subjects will drop and return to a more normal situation.

Mars in Taurus is highly compatible to your Pisces Sun. From January 6 to March 3, your third house will be lit, so you will likely be emersed in the communication arts. You may be designing your new app, building a new website, or starting a new podcast series. You may be writing a book or screen play or editing a large manuscript. If you are making a new product introduction, then you will be working on the advertising, publicity, and social media campaigns. If you are a scientist, you may be writing a white paper for the scientific community or a business-trend report for your company. You may be doing translations or PR press releases, or perhaps designing virtual events in the coming two months. One or more of these areas is sure to capture your attention.

This new emphasis on communication (away from financial work) has to be good news, for you will have more time to spend on activities that matter to you, including your creative projects.

Your solar third house, which will be active due to Mars in Taurus, starting January 6, also rules travel and your siblings or cousins. Travel is still risky, especially going through airports, and if your sister or brother lives in a pandemic hot zone, that has to make it a doubly bad time to travel. I sense you miss your sister, brother, or cousin, but being careful now, for a short time will help us all get a handle on the deadly virus long-term. Even after I get the vaccine eventually, I realize it’s only 94 percent effective, not guaranteed to give 100 percent protection, so I am not giving up my mask anytime soon.

Now let’s look at other themes coming up for you in January. As you entered January, you may have had quite a romantic episode thanks to a lovely full moon that appeared December 29 and still strong for several more days, bringing you to January 3. That full moon was in Cancer, 9 degrees, and it lit your fifth house of magical love.

The fifth house also rules pregnancy and birth, as well as the care of your children. You may have had a lot of time to play with your little ones, reading to them, or taking them to socially distanced events, like an outdoor light show. If you didn’t have a special episode in love or an event to do with a child, then you may have made a decision about a creative project you are about to tackle. The fifth house rules your imagination and artistic expressions, and the full moon was strong and friendly here. Because this was a full moon, you may have seen a project finish up and be ready to ship. Pisces that were most affected by the December 29 full moon were born in February.

We have a lovely new moon on January 12 in a sign supremely compatible to yours—Capricorn—bringing new opportunities, so you may get a message offering you the chance to work on something that interests you deeply—something you’ve long wanted to do that would allow you to use your creativity, personal style and taste.

The same eleventh house rules friendship, so a friend may show a spirit of generosity to you that touches your heart. Your friend may go out of his or her way to help you in a significant way. Venus, the planet of luxury and fun, will be in ideal angle to Uranus, so surprises are in store for you on or near January 9 to January 13. This may create an opportunity to travel a short distance, but be careful, because Mars will be conjunct Uranus, and driving conditions may be hazardous—even explosive. I think you would be wise to stay home despite the opportunity that may come up just after January 12.

Pisces is the sign of compassion, so alternatively, you may decide to do charity work or get involved in a humanitarian or community project that helps those who suffer. You might become strongly involved or do just a little, but either way, the world will be a better place for having had your involvement. If everyone did just a little, imagine the progress that could be made. You may have a strong motivation to be involved in a humanitarian activity for you have a crowd of heavenly bodies migrating to Aquarius, your eleventh house of charity. By February, you will have six out of ten heavenly bodies in this area that rules and encourages compassion for others. The January 12 new moon will only encourage your need to help others. In 2021, this area might grow in importance to you.

If your birthday falls on March 13, plus or minus five days, or if you have Pisces rising 23 degrees or the natal moon in Pisces, you will benefit from this new moon on January 12. Allow a plus or minus five degrees.

Also, look to see if you were born with a planet in Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn at 23 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. If you can find one, that planet will light up and heap all kind of benefits on you.

Now let’s look at month’s end, which brings a usual full moon January 28 in Leo, 9 degrees, to light your sixth house of work projects. An assignment you have been working on will need to be finished and shipped. You may need to hire temporary staff to help you get the work out.

The sixth house rules day-to-day projects that cross your desk, but it also rules your health. While the first house rules your vitality, the sixth house, where the full moon will fall, covers the preventative steps you take to stay healthy. It would be a good idea to go for an annual exam, to have your eyes checked, and to visit your dentist. Overall, a full moon in the sixth house sometimes temporarily lowers energy, so you might be glad to stay home and get some extra rest.

Here is the interesting part about this January 28 full moon. On one hand, Uranus and Mars will still be moving together in your third house of travel. When these two planets are so close, it can be much too dangerous to be on the road.

Mars and Uranus will be in hard angle (90 degrees) to the Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn in your twelfth house of confinement. That twelfth house covers quarantining at home, hospitals, nursing homes, rehab centers, and physical therapy centers. This is no time to take chances with your health, such as meeting up with a group of friends (risking COVID) or by driving in dangerous weather conditions (risking a crash).

If you were to suddenly need a hospital bed, most cities across the world have little extra room, and medical personnel would have to decide which patients to accept and who to send home—in some cases, perhaps, to die. That is battlefield protocol that is resorted to when staff and resources are stretched to the limit. Yikes! Stay home!

Here is where things get interesting. January 28 is the full moon in Leo, but it is also the date of the conjunction of Jupiter and the Sun, an aspect I call the Luckiest Day of the Year. This is an event that typically takes place once a year but did not happen in 2020.

This coming conjunction of the Sun and Jupiter will happen in your twelfth house. Jupiter is your secondary ruling planet, meaning Jupiter is weighted more heavily in your favor. Jupiter is the great good-fortune planet.

Your twelfth house, in addition to covering all sorts of confinement, also rules talks and activities that go on behind closed doors. This tells me that you may have VIPs working behind the scenes to help you, and you may not even be aware of their involvement. I sense you have at least one high-level person (personified by Jupiter in the twelfth house) who has influence and power who believes in you. This person seems be working to your benefit behind the scenes, speaking to close contacts about your talents. You may not find out about this person’s efforts for weeks, or you may never find out, as this person may want to remain anonymous.

There are more benefits to the conjunction of the Sun and Jupiter in the twelfth house. This house rules intuition, and this month, especially in the days that circle January 28, your hunches will be working at an all-time high. You must listen to what that small voice within tells you. Pisces takes in the world though the non-verbal right brain, which makes you incredibly creative. You are a whiz at making decisions in the face of ambiguity, something other signs find too hard a task. Your sixth sense never fails you. Near the end of this month, you may have absolutely no facts (yet) to back up what your intuition is telling you, but you will know like you know your name that you have to follow what it is telling you.

Meditation and prayer also fall in the twelfth house. If you wanted to learn to meditate, this month or February would be the time to start. Mercury will go retrograde January 30 to February 20, but Mercury should not interfere with your plans to learn meditation. If you want to learn more about your religion or other religions, that, too, is possible.

The twelfth house, being the repository of dreams and subconscious thoughts, will fuel your creativity and artistic expression on a large scale. If you have a big idea, you need to find out how to actualize it. Alternatively, if you want to do a series of photographs, poems, or a portfolio of artwork in a collection, you have all you need to be successful.

Finally, if you have felt anxious lately due to the pandemic or for other reasons, you might want to reach out to a professional therapist. There are plenty of resources and government programs available. If you want to do a session by teleconference, you can, so it won’t even require a drive to your therapist’s office. If you feel you need to be in rehab, this would be a fantastic time to check in and rid yourself of any habit that is tearing down your health. You can get well.

Jupiter, touring your twelfth house of the subconscious to stay nearly a year, is the planet of healing and is also known as the planet of miracles. The twelfth house is also a place of recovery and healing—it is the house that Pisces “owns,” so this house is a comfy place for you. You could not wish for a better time to consult a therapist if you have been troubled psychologically—having Jupiter in Aquarius is a perfect time to start.

Jupiter will briefly move into Pisces from May 13 to July 28 this year, a place it has not been in over a decade. At that time, the universe will give you a preview of a much larger period of rewards and benefits due you, for Jupiter will spend nearly all of 2022 in Pisces. Never have you had a better time to take your dreams seriously. Jupiter will bring the influential people you need to support you and, if necessary, to fund you. Reach out. This golden plum is ripe on the tree just for you.

For months, you’ve had a strong emphasis on money management due to the tour of Mars through Aries, your second house of income, a trend that started June 27, 2020. Mars is a highly energetic planet and usually forces up spending. You may have had to buy many things that you needed but had put off, or perhaps you had to buy a large item, like a car. You might be self-employed and invested in your business, or maybe you invested in yourself in the past months, for example, by going back to university for a degree. You may have needed a bank loan that you were determined to repay, or you may have been working on building your credit reputation. If you had fraud on your credit card, it may have taken you weeks to straighten things out.

Now, the strong financial emphasis comes to an end. Mars will move out of Aries, your income sector, on January 6 and not be back for two years. Whew!

You have been doing well in your career, a fact that likely became evident at the solar eclipse last month on December 14. That new moon eclipse will be strong for many months, but it is always strongest close to the days that directly follow the eclipse. That would have been holiday time, so now that everyone is back to work, you can make subtle inquiries, if you’d like, to change jobs or pick up a side job to supplement your income.

Your timing would be perfect in the first part of January, but as you get closer to the end of the month, Mercury will retrograde from January 30 to February 20. Time is of the essence, so start looking as soon as you are back from the holidays.

The new moon of January 12 has some crosscurrents, but overall it is a peach of a new moon that you can use. Keep your ideas under wraps as there are people who are impressed with your thinking and would love to take one of those ideas and run with it themselves. Be very discrete, and ask staff members to sign confidentiality papers.

Your interest in the social side of life will be stimulated at the new moon on January 12 and the weeks to come. Friends, current and new ones, along with new acquaintances, will have a big role in your life. Even if the only way you can be in touch with your friends is by Zoom, email, SMS, and the phone, you will find a way to stay in contact. You may decide to work to help a charity, humanitarian, or community effort that will turn out to be a source of great personal growth.

The full moon of January 28 could bring news of a well-paying side job, or if you are self-employed, you may get some lucrative new business. It seems to be an assignment you would enjoy very much. If the project that comes up involves designer fashion, beautiful artwork, or any one of the cultural arts, music, or the entertainment industry, you will feel like a puppy in clover. (That full moon will be in Leo, which rules all the arts and luxury items, too.)

That full moon will coincide with the Luckiest Day of the Year, January 28, when good-fortune Jupiter will conjunct the Sun. This ensures generous pay and one that could have global appeal. Saturn will be conjunct the Sun too, so you may feel quite a bit of pressure when responsibility is put on your shoulders. Still, that combo—Saturn conjunct the Sun—tends to be present when a person reaches for the stars and hands in superb work. It looks like the assignment that will come up will help you display the range of your talents.

As Mercury will retrograde from January 30 to February 20, it seems certain that someone from your past will call you and ask you to associate together again to create exciting results. If a company, client, or person from your past is involved, that would be very lucky for you—almost “meant to be.”

When it comes to love, think back to the last days of 2020 when a full moon on December 29 spotlighted you and your love life and brought a romantic episode that you may long remember. That full moon was strong through New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. If you are dating seriously, you might have received (or given) a proposal for marriage. Even if you did not (or if you are already married), it was still a happy time. Hopefully you chose not to travel, not even a short distance—you were feeling a need for privacy and rest.

Consider joining a professional club and attend online Zoom lectures and conventions to stay clued into industry trends. Your planets will be twinkling brightly in the group area of your chart, and with Jupiter in futuristic, digitally oriented Aquarius, attending online will be luckier for you than going in person.
