Monthly News from Susan Miller
September has so many sparkling aspects—my favorite will be the full moon in Pisces September 10, and it will be active for five days beyond the date it appears as the full moon gently wanes. When you read my September forecast, read for your Sun sign and rising sign, as we all have two charts. In each case, be sure to read about this full moon and plan to use it!

Your September Horoscope for Libra
Your past month may have been very social, but that was then, and this is now, dear Libra. Your mood has changed. You need to snap into the faster tempo of a new season, but it looks as though you don’t feel ready to do so. As you enter September, you will do so on tip toes, quietly and softly, not that you are worried about waking anyone up around you, but rather that you are concerned about pushing yourself too hard. Obligations in your personal life will step up, so you are wisely giving yourself a little break to reset and re-enter life more gently on your terms.
The reason you may be feeling this way is that the new moon in Virgo, 4 degrees, that appeared on August 27 late last month lit your twelfth house of privacy and reflection. You may have some happy memories of the past two months, and you might enjoy having them run through your mind like late-night movies. Getting your mind back to focus on work may seem a little hard when demands start coming in. Be good to yourself, and break down tasks into small pieces.
Starting on September 9, Mercury will go retrograde in Libra, but as Mercury continues on his backward journey, will slip into Virgo by September 23. Mercury will continue in Vigo until this little planet finishes his out-of-phase motion on October 2. Being that the first 14 days of his retrograde has Mercury in Libra, that’s when you are likely to feel the delays, mix-ups, and forgetfulness, along with the other little tricks Mercury has up his sleeve, most sharply. I will admit Mercury in Virgo is not entirely easy because Mercury rules Virgo, so it’s strong in that sign. Still, I feel you’ve already felt the general atmosphere around you to start to slow during the last 10 days of August, so you might have suspected Mercury was getting ready to take his nap. One item you own will likely soon show its wear and tear, and you will need to visit the repair shop or have the repair person visit you.
Put off buying a computer, smart phone, car, air conditioner, kitchen appliance, or anything else that has moving parts or a chip inside. Mercury rules those pieces. You will enjoy the item much more if you wait and buy it in October—after October 2 and before October 15. The full moon next month on October 9 will be in Aries, and it will be quite sparkling—that’s when to make your purchase and to plan a fun event over the weekend of October 8-9 with the person you love.
The early part of October will be a wonderful time to make major decisions. Launch something new to the marketplace, form a new relationship, start a new job, close on a house—the world is filled with possibilities. Knowing you, dear Libra, you are quite analytical and are wondering why I said to buy things after October 2 (when Mercury would go direct) but before October 15. I made no mention about why, and I am sure you caught that.
The reason is that Mercury’s big brother, Mars, will go retrograde too, October 30 to January 12, and it’s best to stay away from the days bordering the start and end dates of a retrograde period. That’s why I chose the lovely October 9 full moon (it really is beautifully aspected and full of goodies), because aside from its considerable gifts, it is far enough away from both Mars’ and his little brother Mercury’s retrogrades.
The full moon in Pisces on September 10 will bring a major task to conclusion and include positive, generous vibrations from Uranus (the surprise planet. That surprise will come out of the blue—perhaps a fee or some sort of bonus or payment.
Let’s talk about Mars. Mars entered Gemini last month, August 20, and will remain in Gemini straight through March 25, 2023. That is a period of seven months, much longer than the usual six weeks that Mars normally spends moving through a sign. Mars will always energize any house he visits, and fortunately for you, this time Mars will be in a supremely favorable house—your ninth house—fellow air-sign Gemini in perfect angle to your Sun.
Your ninth house is an intellectual house where you take in information, debate information, and also disperse information. It rules higher education, the court system, and publishing and broadcasting, including the Internet, podcasts, and the like. The ninth house also rules international travel—the ancient astrologers felt that travel was the best education of all, where we come to understand people of different ethnicities, religions, and cultures. Of course, they were right. Under international travel comes international relationships, say, when you work regularly with a foreign company but where you are not required to live in that country or even to visit it (for any reason). As an extension of the emphasis on travel, this house also rules immigration, citizenship, passports, residency, and visas.
I am not sure which of the areas I listed above will become all-consuming for you, but I do know that one is likely to be the center of your concentration in the coming months. You might travel a great deal to distant cities, or you may be going to college or graduate school. You might be writing a book, starting a series of podcasts, or be hired as a managing or senior editor at a prestigious publication and work on a cover story.
You may already sense you know why this area will be so important to you, but if not, stay tuned. Something has you engrossed, and it seems positive. Mars is the natural ruler of your seventh house of partners in love and business, so perhaps that’s a clue that will help you decide. It’s a happy thought that if you travel it would be with your partner, and if you work on a big media project, that it will be collaborative. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
The full moon in Pisces, 18 degrees, on September 10 will bring a major task to conclusion—and it’s a GREAT moment. This full moon will bring all kinds of terrific news for it will receive positive, generous vibrations from Uranus (the surprise planet) in Taurus (at 18 degrees), and that surprise will come out of the blue. This suggests you will receive a fee or some sort of bonus or payment at that time that you may not expect. Or it may be that you pitched a client and will be told at the full moon September 10 that you have the business. This full moon will be conjunct Neptune, so you seem to be working on a creative, artistic project or will suddenly be given the go-ahead to do so within five days of September 10. You will like this full moon’s message.
When the Sun moves into Libra on September 22, you will start to see your energy surge. Your period of taking it slow will end, and you will start moving with a spring in your step.
The new moon in Libra, 3 degrees, will arrive on September 25 in your solar first house of personality. This is your cosmic gift certificate for your birthday, dear Libra, and it will be helpful to you no matter what time in the Libra month (September or October) that you were born. What would you like to improve in your life? You can direct the energy of this new moon in any way you like, and it is the only new moon of the year where you get to do that.
Venus is your ruler, so this new moon is ruled by Venus, too. That’s why we have to look at the aspects affecting Venus this month. Happily, she’s found speaking to Pluto in your fourth house of home. At the same time, Venus will be in a wide, harmonious trine to Uranus—more surprises! At this point, Venus will still be in Virgo, a confidential part of your chart, so I am wondering if you might have some sort of financial luck that will stem from a family member who will ask you to keep her secret—perhaps it will be a very generous birthday present or check.
At the same time as the September 25 new moon, another aspect will be building—Mars in Gemini will be in heavenly harmony to Saturn in Aquarius. Mars and Saturn will be in tight, very positive sync (to peak on September 27). This aspect will fire up your ambitions and make you determined to prove yourself to a VIP. Your concentration on a job will be riveting, and there is no doubt that if you are working on a project, you will complete it on time, on budget, and in beautifully polished form.
The closer your birthday falls to September 25, the more likely you will feel the energy of this new moon and be starting a new chapter. The same is true if you have Libra rising or your natal moon in Libra, in either case at 3 degrees, plus five or minus three degrees. Also, have a look at your natal chart and see if you have a birth planet at 3 degrees (plus five or minus three degrees) in Libra, Gemini, Aquarius, Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius. If you do, watch that planet—it will come alive and start to help you.
Venus will be in Virgo almost all month, but on September 29 move into Libra, to remain in your sign until October 23. That alone gives you lots to look forward to next month.
Romantically, your very best time of the month will be over the weekend of September 17-18. Venus will be trine surprise-a-minute Uranus precisely on Monday September 19, and this lovely aspect will be felt over the preceding weekend as the aspect builds. That weekend sparkles, so make good use of it!
September starts slowly and quietly, for the new moon in Virgo, the most hidden portion of your chart, occurred on August 27 and will affect you in early September. You seem to crave rest and privacy, and if you already took time off, you may feel you need a vacation after your vacation. Alternatively, you may be feeling that summer went by too quickly, like water running through your fingers. If you do feel that way, think of what is coming!
Libra is the one sign tied closely to society and culture. Museums and theatre are just starting to move into full swing, new fashions are being shipped, and what lies ahead are all kinds of gatherings as everyone settles back into routine.
Thanks to the position of Mars in Gemini, your ninth house, your possibilities to travel long distances will be abundant from now through the end of March 2023. Having Mars, the energy planet, in lovely angle to your Sun is also a plus—both Gemini and Libra are air signs, so you will be helped by Mars in this position. Legal and citizenship matters, along with those involving passports, visas, or residency should go well now. If you are going to university for a new semester, Mars in Gemini will also help you by getting you those professors you like and from whom you will learn a great deal.
This month will have Mercury retrograde from September 9 to October 2. Typically, Mercury retrogrades three times a year for a little over three weeks, so you are skilled at handling this sometimes frustrating trend. This time, Mercury will retrograde in Libra, so you need to be more deliberate than ever to keep track of items when out and about, lest you leave something behind, like your favorite sunglasses, your smart phone, or your keys. When creating a document for a client or for publication, make sure you have an extra pair of eyes look it over. Making a small extra effort to keep on top of details throughout the month should keep you feeling upbeat.
Be sure to avoid buying an electronic item, such as a laptop, smart phone, or automobile with Mercury retrograde, and refrain from buying a kitchen appliance or air conditioner either. Wait until after October 2 to sign a contract unless you can do so in the very early days of September.
The full moon in Pisces on September 10 will bring a work assignment or task to culmination. Neptune will be conjunct the full moon, so it appears this will be a creative project that will allow you great latitude for artistic expression. Uranus in your financial house will be in a perfect position to send you a large one-time chunk of money, so it’s possible that this project to lead you to another, equally well-paying assignment.
Some Libras have been restless and not happy with their jobs, as they reported to me on social media. Neptune, which adds confusion at times, is orbiting close to the full moon, which suggests not knowing what you are talented at could be at the core of the problem. In this competitive world, it’s best to enter a field where you feel you can excel. If unsure, have your birth chart done, for your natal horoscope can suggest the right field by looking at your rising sign, mid-heaven, the nodes, and other points in your chart. Astrologers can suggest the best vocation for you.
As a Libra, you are a master matchmaker for both romance and business, for you enjoy introducing people who you feel should know one another. Libra is very skilled in the social graces, and you easily make many friends. Dealing with the public would be enjoyable for you. Libras also are known as fair negotiators, arbitrators, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, and other professions of those who work in pursuit of justice.
Your big moment will happen when you receive your annual birthday present from a loving universe: the new moon in Libra on September 25. This new moon will be in play for weeks to come. Direct its considerable energy in any way you please—once a year are you given carte blanch privilege of a new moon like this.
This new moon will partner with Jupiter in Aries, suggesting your partner in marriage or business (as an agent, publicist, lawyer, accountant, business partner, or other person who works closely with you) can be quite helpful now. This also suggests that if you have been dating, you may get engaged for your birthday.
Additionally, a golden triangle will appear, linking Venus in Libra to Pluto, which is very close to Aquarius, and to Mars in Gemini, the third leg of the triangle. The fact that Venus is part of the golden triangle is happy news—Venus is your ruling planet whose job it is to take good care of you. Venus will get helpful support from all these planets, which means you will feel support from others, too, at this darling new moon. New moons are influential for weeks, so decide what you’d like to have happen next and be as detailed about your plan as possible. Stick to your goal, see the prize in your eye—you can move mountains now.
