As you enter May, you will still be feeling the April 27 new moon in Taurus, 8 degrees. This was not a friendly new moon, but it wasn’t the little moon’s fault. This tender new moon arrived, as she always does, with her partner the Sun, also in Taurus, in the middle of a roaring argument between Mars and Pluto, two energetic planets that can be explosive when they are in a bad mood like they were on April 26-27.
That new moon on April 27 focused you on other people’s money. If you had not filed your taxes but instead requested an extension, you might still not be able to file them yet. Perhaps you will now meet with your accountant to organize your paperwork because the April 27 new moon had put such a strong emphasis on money and paying bills. Many Americans don’t know that filing an extension doesn’t mean you have extra time to pay your year-end taxes. Those are due on April 15.
Unfortunately, you have to pay what you think you owe in full on April 15. Your accountant can make an educated guess, or if not much has changed last year from the year before, you could send the same amount that you paid the previous year. In US law, if you don’t pay by April 15 but have an extension, you still incur penalties and interest on the sum. The amount you owe accumulates interest every day until you wire in your payment. This is why there is no reason to wait until the extension deadline in October. You can file earlier, and you seem so motivated now.
