A Note from Susan Miller
My former husband, Don Miller, died this morning, Saturday, May 1, at 8:34 AM in the city we always lived, New York City, Manhattan.
He was in a hospital, and the nurse called today to give us—me and my two daughters, Chrissie, who lives here in New York City, and Diana, who flew in from Los Angeles—the heartbreaking news. They did say his passing was natural, as his organs failed him. They had kept him very comfortable, and we were told he never felt pain. There were no decisions to make, and there was nothing that could be done. The finality of death is so chilling. I felt so sorry he could not have lived longer and had to pass this way.
Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
You seem intent on finding ways to make more money, and your timing is good. A large expense may have come up last month at the full moon of April 26, causing your bank account to be rapidly drained of money. The good news is more money will likely flow in. Here is why you should remain optimistic.
The new moon of May 11 in Taurus, 21 degrees, will soon appear in your eighth house of other people’s money. This is the money that comes to you through company benefits and perks or through money you earned that is not classified as salary. To clarify, you will be luckiest with money you get outside of your salary, including commissions, royalties, licensing fees, residuals, government stimulus checks, cash advances, or perks from your company, such as a fine health insurance policy or matching funds for tuition (benefits that would cost quite a bit, if you had to pay for them yourself). There are also perks that make life easier, such as the ability to work at home or more paid vacation days, for example.
The eighth house can bring money from venture capital, sponsors, advertisers, or from banks that provide loans and mortgages. Wealth might also come from investments, such as equity in your employer’s company or stocks you own that suddenly split and appreciate in value. I am giving you a panoramic view of this area of your chart to inspire you to think about the many potential sources of money. Also included would be an inheritance or prize winnings, which, of course, are less likely to bring you the windfall you need. (Well, maybe you could be a contestant on a TV game show and win the big prize. That’s unlikely, but fun to think about, right?)
In the days following its appearance, the job of a new moon is to bring new conditions and opportunities. I love that Pluto, based in your fourth house of home, will be supportive of the new moon and the Sun at this time. If you are short of cash, this tells me that one of your parents, or another kindly relative, may give you money to help lower your anxiety. Pluto is currently straddling your fourth and fifth houses, so that provides another clue—if you are artistic, you may receive a large, one-time fee from an exciting creative assignment.
A raise might be possible on May 11, for on that very day, by coincidence, Mars will be in perfect, warm, and friendly communication with Uranus, the planet of surprise. Approval may come fast and knock you over when it does. This is the same day as your financial new moon, and I am loving this coincidence.
Here’s more good news. From April 23 to June 11, the red planet Mars will reside in Cancer, your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement, the most prestigious career sector of your horoscope. This is a place Mars visits every two years for seven weeks. This current trend of Mars will allow you to get your foot in the door with influential VIPs who can help you get ahead. Mars is the planet that makes us courageous and passionate and helps you get the support you need. Energy attracts more energy!
Venus will be orbiting through Gemini, a divinely compatible place for Venus to be, from May 8 to June 2, making this a perfect month to pick up some new things for your wardrobe.
Get as much as possible signed, sealed, and delivered in early to mid-May, for Mercury, the planet of communication, will be retrograde from May 29 to June 11. This does not mean you have to stop interviewing, developing new business, and advancing your career—not at all. In the first part of May, seek opportunities from companies that you’ve just discovered. Meet top VIPs who are new to you, and then, as you get closer to May 29, when Mercury is due to retrograde, call executives you successfully worked with in the past to reopen those relationships. Reconnect—you are a known quantity to these people, so hiring you would represent almost zero risks, and that will work in your favor.
Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, moved into Aquarius, your fifth house of true love, in December of 2020 and has remained there ever since. If you’re single, you are the envy of the other signs, for with Jupiter in your fifth house of romance, your chances of meeting that one special person become very possible. The way you’d meet someone would not be through your work—it would be at a social event or through the introduction of a friend.
This same area of the chart, sprinkled with pixie dust, rules love and also pregnancy, birth, and the care of children. If you have been hoping to have a baby (and the wish to have a child doesn’t matter if you are a woman or man), Jupiter in this area of your chart expands your chances of fulfilling that dream, many times over. This is my number one question from female readers, “Can I have a baby?” If you choose to try, you have some of the best months so far this year (and also in July) to make that happen. Many people are hoping to experience the birthing process, and many are open to having a surrogate or adopting. All of these options fall in this house, the fifth house, which is glowing for you.
For 11 weeks, though, Jupiter will not be in Aquarius, your love/children/creativity sector, but instead reside in Pisces, your sixth house of work assignments—from May 13 to July 28. Here, you will feel like you poked the pinata, and all kinds of well-paying work projects will begin falling down from the heavens. This is good news, for finding more work and income is on your list this month. Pisces is the most creative sign of the zodiac, so chances are the work you find will allow you to use your good taste and discerning eye, even though Jupiter will not be in your fifth house of creativity for those 11 weeks. (I know this can be confusing, but astrology is not interpreted like a cookbook recipe—things are more complex than that, but all this news is good news!)
No need to freak out at all. Although from May 13 to July 28 Jupiter will leave Aquarius (your romance/children sector), he will return to fulfill his tour of duty in your most loving, sparkling house of true love from July 28 to December 28, 2021.
After working so hard on your career, looking under every bush, and leaving no stone unturned (a successful and worthy effort for you), you will crave a little time off. Your desire to get out of the house and see something new will be very strong, fueled by the full moon lunar eclipse near month’s end. Yes, this month, already so chock full of news will ALSO bring an eclipse. This one will be friendly to you, for it will fall on May 26 in Sagittarius at 5 degrees.
You will travel a short distance as a result of this lunar eclipse in Sagittarius, and it will temporarily satisfy your yearning for adventure. It will light your third house of siblings and close kin, so you may travel to be with your sister, brother, or cousin, or to meet with a client for a socially-distanced lunch. This appears to be a road trip to a sunny destination (Sagittarius is associated with warmth) close to home. You might experience a touch of luxury because Mercury (travel) will be in out-of-sign sync with lucky Jupiter. If you go for pleasure, you will enjoy not having to cook so many meals, and if you go for work, Mercury and Jupiter will see to it that you reach an agreement.
Saturn will also be well-angled to the Sun and new moon, indicating that if you are going to discuss family business (perhaps the purchase or sale of property) or need to decide on a family member’s care, Saturn will help you feel secure about making the right choice.
All eclipses come in pairs, and this one on May 26 will be followed by the next eclipse on June 10. That one will fall in Gemini, a sign that blends beautifully with Libra, and whether Libra is your Sun sign or rising sign, it will be a new moon solar eclipse that could find you traveling further afield. I will tell you all about it next month.
The third house is also associated with contracts, and that is the place Mercury will retrograde, from May 29 to June 22. Refrain from signing anything then. See if you can hurry the contract along in the first half of May, or table the signing until late June or July.
In the meantime, Venus will be orbiting through Gemini, a divinely compatible place for Venus to be, from May 8 to June 2, making this a perfect month to pick up some new things for your wardrobe or for scheduling time with your hairdresser for a fresh cut. Treat yourself to new makeup or a new scent (my male readers included), and if you want to do Botox or fillers, do so early in May, after May 8. You might choose May 11 or May 19.
Whether you are single or attached, Venus in Gemini will give you that special sparkle that will draw others to you.
Your career is on the upswing, and now is the perfect time to be looking for a new position, either full-time or part-time, or if you’re self-employed, to engage a new client. You’ll have Mars helping you in the most prestigious part of your chart, the tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement. Start making inquiries, and if self-employed, continue to promote your business through social media and advertising. Enter award shows, if that applies to your work. This is the time to toot your horn, and if you know a headhunter, be in touch.
On the new moon of May 11, you’ll have an opportunity to make a bundle of money, possibly unexpectedly. The money will come in as a one-time payment, possibly as a commission, royalty, or licensing fee. This is a new moon, suggesting beginnings, and with Uranus in your financial eighth house making a direct beam to Mars in your house of fame, you’ll have all you need to make a financial win—and you may be surprised when you do.
If you are looking for a bank loan or venture capital for your business or a mortgage, be ready to present your case to lenders at the May 11 new moon—if you wrote a good business plan and show realistic financials, you should get approval for the money you need. A new moon in Taurus brings Venus into the discussion, and here Venus is found in a lovely conversation with Pluto—in the days that follow this new moon, May 11, you have all the twinkling stars you need to make money.
After thinking about career and money most of this month, you seem to be ready for a little trip. The full moon lunar eclipse on May 26 in Sagittarius—a very powerful event—may bring an opportunity to travel to a nearby location that’s quite open, with big sunny skies—just your cup of tea. Saturn will be beautifully oriented to the moon and Sun, so you may visit a parent or older relative and enjoy staying in their beautifully appointed guest room. If all else fails, your family is being loving and supportive, and one relative will likely give you the cash you need, if you are getting frantic about running low. You seem not to need to go this route, though—I see money coming to you from your previous efforts and several sources. Your services will be in demand in the marketplace, and that will feel good.
Your luckiest, most surprising day for seeing cash? The day when Mars in your house of fame and honors will link up with Uranus and bring you a sum of money you don’t expect—May 11, the same day as the new moon.
Back to the full moon, a contract may need your signature, and it looks to be a good deal. Consider putting off finalizing this, though, because Mercury will be retrograde from May 29 to June 22, never a good time to sign papers. By the May 26 eclipse, you will be too close to Mercury retrograde to take any actions. Delay the process, so you can sign in late June, well after June 22. If you do have to sign, realize that the deal may have to be renegotiated later, or you’ll have a change of heart about the idea and start looking for other options. Be sure you have an exit clause. Sometimes we are forced to take short-time situations (signing with Mercury retrograde) to get to where we ultimately want to be.
Venus will tour Gemini, an air sign like yours, from May 8 to June 2. This is great news for you. You’ll feel sexy, flirty, confident, and ready to devote time to love. Do something special to improve your appearance in May—get a new haircut, update your makeup for the coming season, and if you want to do a little Botox, go right ahead. Treat yourself to something new to wear, too. Just remember to avoid working on your appearance as you get closer to Mercury retrograde at month’s end (May 29, with a space of days before this date). You will feel very popular in May, and the spotlight will be on you!
