Your August Horoscope for Libra

You are one of the most social of all zodiac signs, so you will love the start of August. The new moon in Leo, 6 degrees, that appeared a few days ago, July 28, will bring a big boost to your social life in the weeks to come. Friends will be calling you, and you will hastily arrange lunches, sunset meetings for drinks, and picnics on the beach, and you may also feel like showing off your entertaining skills at home.

For my friends “down under,” it’s cold season, so you might want to arrange a cocktail party at your home during the first half of August—your heart will be warmed by the presence of friends who love you dearly.

The new moon will trigger an especially happy social time if your birthday falls on September 30, plus or minus five days, or if you have Libra rising between 1 and 11 degrees. The same is true if you have a planet in your natal chart at 6 degrees, plus or minus five degrees, in Libra, Aquarius, Gemini, Aires, Leo, or Sagittarius.

Last month, July, you were busy with career-oriented tasks, planning, and decisions—and may have even had an interview for a new position. With all you had to do, July may have felt a bit pressured. This month will be a dream of a social whirl, and you will feel much more relaxed. Friends love you and will find reasons to get you out of the house to catch up with them.

At the start of August, Jupiter was at an ideal angle to the Sun and new moon, always good news, and that may have already translated into more quality time with your one-and-only, too. If not, Libras who are married or in a long-term established relationship have the edge now. Jupiter is in your seventh house of commitment, including marriage (making you the most likely sign to get engaged, married, or have happy experiences with your mate). The good news about your career may also arrive in the first part of August.

The full moon on August 11 in Aquarius, 19 degrees, will light your fifth house of true love, so this full moon would apply to you if you were dating but not married. (Married partners are in a different house.) This full moon might alternatively apply to you if you have a child or if you’re hoping to have or adopt a child.

This full moon will not be easy. Uranus is the planet that rules Aquarius, the sign of the full moon. Uranus, however, will be in Taurus at 19 degrees, precisely square (a harsh aspect indicating obstacles) the tender full moon in Aquarius, 19 degrees, and also the Sun in Leo at 19 degrees. Anything that is not working will break down now—and swiftly.

You’ve had a lot of large expenses lately, but they will simmer down once you get to August 20. Thank goodness! As soon as Mars gets away from Uranus, life will likely normalize again.

Alternatively, you may feel sad over the plight of a friend and frustrated because there is no way for you to help this person. Be there and listen—sometimes that is all we need to feel comfortable.

You may be concerned about your child (who might need help in school—I am guessing here). If you are dating, it’s also possible that you’ll have a strong disagreement with your sweetheart concerning his or her child. Either way, that news would come up suddenly, and perhaps accidentally, in a weird, offhand way.

This full moon seems to make you quite emotional and upset—understandably so. Nobody will like this full moon. Full moons bring things to a culmination, and when Uranus is involved, be careful with your words. Uranus can make you want to respond impulsively, but the words you say could leave a scar that won’t go away. Before you say anything, you might want to clarify the information with a second source.

Saturn will be tightly conjunct with the full moon in Aquarius, so Saturn won’t help matters—it will make things worse. Saturn will force you to face reality, and as much as you might want to resist accepting the truth, so much will be shooting out from under the surface like a geyser. This could be a strenuous episode for you.

Uranus is in your eighth house of jointly-held money, a house that covers credit cards, bank loans and student loans, inheritances, venture capital, taxes, and funds like these. Something related to these resources is due to be troublesome. You may disagree with someone over money or be distressed to see someone has tried to steal your identity. I am not sure how, but money could be at the core of the problem and the reason you will feel so rattled.

If your birthday falls on October 13, plus or minus five days, you will feel this full moon. The same is true if you have Libra rising or your natal moon in Libra at 19 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. Check your natal horoscope to see if you have a natal planet at 19 degrees, plus or minus five degrees in Libra, Gemini, Aquarius, Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius, and if you do, that planet will be under stress from Uranus, the Sun, and the full moon.

On the topic of money, you’ve had a lot of large expenses lately, but they will simmer down once you get to August 20. Thank goodness! Some of these expenses were not expected, but as soon as Mars gets away from Uranus, life will likely normalize again.

This is a big month because Mars will move to a highly compatible place, Gemini, not for the usual period of seven weeks, but rather for seven MONTHS, from August 20, 2022, to March 25, 2023. Wow. Mars will brilliantly light your ninth house, and the way most people use this energy is to travel a lot!

You might even be going a far distance quite often or have a reason to go overseas. If I were you, I would make sure my passport is up to date. Did you know some countries don’t let you enter if your passport is due to expire in six months? Good to know. You can call your passport office to find out, or look on the government passport website for more information.

You will have other areas of gain while energetic, high-octane Mars is taking a long visit to your ninth house and is so beautifully oriented to your Sun. (I need to add that I cannot see your unique chart, so I am assuming Mars will not conflict with any other of your natal planets.)

Theoretically, thanks to Mars in Gemini, you should do well with legal matters, projects or interviews you might have with executives in the publishing or broadcasting industries, publicity that comes out about you this month, and all activities you may be involved in to attain a higher education.

You will like the position of Mars in Gemini, and those Libras with a birthday in September, or those who have Libra rising 0 to 5 degrees, will be the first readers to benefit.

You may be sitting at your desk or in your living room wondering why Mars is spending seven months in one sign. This rarely happens. You’re an analytical sign, so I bet this has been on your mind, with the wheels turning in your brain, needing to find the answer to why this is happening. The reason Mars will be in Gemini so long is that he will be retrograde for nearly 11 weeks in the middle of his tour of Gemini. That means you must launch products well before Mars goes out of phase.

Mars will be in Gemini from August 20, 2022, to March 25, 2023, and will retrograde in Gemini from October 30, 2022, to January 12, 2023.

I know, this is disappointing news, but it is not tragic. Mars is the planet that motivates us to compete well, and when Mars sleeps, we miss his support. Everything, especially in business, seems harder to accomplish. The pace will slow, and you will find that VIPs won’t get back to you as quickly as they usually do. Due to Mars’ retrograde, supply chain problems will mount, so if you need certain materials to do your job, get your order in for them now. It is an astrological axiom that you should never launch anything new while Mars is retrograde.

If you need a product or service to reach its full potential, you need to launch in August or the first 12 days of October, omitting the first three days. Start your advertising, publicity, or social media campaign now, immediately, or early in October (October 4-12).

If you hope to meet someone new romantically, do not try to have a first date during the Mars retrograde (October 30, 2022, to January 12, 2023).

If you’re looking over the dates that Mars will be in Gemini and the dates it will go retrograde, you may wonder why I didn’t say you could launch in September. I was hoping you wouldn’t notice that. Okay, I have to drop the other shoe.

The fact is, Mars’ little brother Mercury, the clown of the planetary family, is a copycat. Seeing that his brother, powerful Mars, is going off to sleep in retrograde, Mercury wants to do the same thing.

Little Mercury will go retrograde from September 9 to October 2, though you will feel Mercury’s slowdown earlier than September 9. As you see, we are going into a very slow period. August will be your last strong, productive period, with early October the runner-up, after Mercury goes direct on October 2, and you should always leave a small space after Mercury goes direct to initiate anything (which is why I chose October 4 as the start of your next strong period).

If you need a new car, computer, smartphone, dishwasher, washer-dryer, vacuum cleaner, or any product that is either electronic or has gears and moving parts, buy your item now, without delay, for the best results. Mercury rules gears, moving parts, and the chips in all electronics.

The month ends with a new moon on August 27 in Virgo. By this point, you will want to take it easy. The new moon will light your twelfth house of privacy, so you may be happy to spend time by yourself for a few weeks, reading, listening to music, and following your agenda without too much interaction with other people.

The twelfth house is where we start to plan our birthday year, and it’s coming soon, so while you are alone, do a little focused daydreaming about your future. You can make it as big, bold, and bright as you like, dear Libra—if you can think it, you can do it.

SUMMARY

You’ve been concerned about money, but the good news is the recent unexpected flow of money out of your bank account is about to abate. Mars has been the culprit here, and it did not help that Mars and Uranus, two “hot” planets, were docking in your financial eighth house of other people’s money. Having Mars alone in that part of your chart often causes spending to rise, but when paired with Uranus, surprise expenses come up, too. Whenever Uranus plays a major role in any aspect of this sector, the outcome is that just about anything could happen—you could get a large windfall, or you could have an expense you never expected.

I feel we never have to prepare for good news, like getting an unanticipated bonus or other windfall. However, we do have to be conservative in spending for a little while to prepare for the opposite possibility—such as an unexpected bill.

As you enter August, though, you also have a lovely aspect involving the mighty Sun, working with good-fortune Jupiter, meaning your friends and your partner will mix beautifully in early August. You may want to give a small party or go to a social event that you both are invited to attend—it would be quite memorable. The glow of that aspect will be strong in the first days of August.

From the time Mars moves out of Taurus on August 20, you will see your finances improve almost instantly. Mars will move into Gemini for an unusually long period—seven months—and set up shop in your ninth house of travel until March 25, 2023. Gemini is a compatible air sign, blending beautifully with your air-sign Libra Sun.

It appears you will be spending a lot of time in airports and traveling (a wonderful prospect). If you feel that’s not likely, or not possible, alternatively, you may be going to a university campus to study or work on important publishing or broadcasting projects. You could be dealing with citizenship, immigration, visa, or residency matters, or you might be involved with a legal case. One of these areas will be a major focus, but it should work in your favor.

Now let’s turn to the thorny moment of the month. No one, of any sign, will be thrilled with the full moon on August 11. What makes this full moon a rough one involves the Sun in Leo and the full moon in Aquarius—both will be at a harsh angle (exact) to Uranus and Mars. This will send turbulence into both of your financial houses. Whether you are dating or married, you may not agree with your partner about money, or if you have a child, you may need to write a large check to care for that child. You seem to have no option but to pay what is due.

Saturn will be close enough to the full moon to press on you and remind you that there are some responsibilities in life we must take on, and some will require sacrifice. Saturn will make you very realistic and practical, even if you would rather not be at this point. Everyone you speak to within five days of this full moon may be walking gingerly on eggs, so be kind.

If anyone needs a restful, quiet, undemanding end of August, it’s you. Ask your mother to care for your children for a few nights while you drive with your spouse or sweetheart to a secluded location. Hopefully, it will be a spot that also offers small, beautiful, highly rated restaurants nearby that serve a choice of delicious cuisines and fine wines. Dining al fresco would be ideal with your sweetheart or spouse, listening to the crickets and taking in the scent of honeysuckle in the evening air. If you live “down under,” find some luxury accommodations with an oversized fireplace where you can cuddle together. You crave rest with a dusting of glamour—you can have it now.
