Monthly News from Susan Miller
September has so many sparkling aspects—my favorite will be the full moon in Pisces September 10, and it will be active for five days beyond the date it appears as the full moon gently wanes. When you read my September forecast, read for your Sun sign and rising sign, as we all have two charts. In each case, be sure to read about this full moon and plan to use it!

Your September Horoscope for Gemini
What a busy month is coming for you, dear Gemini. Time for family, news of an exciting career advancement, and an abundance of romantic moments will bring a wealth of sparkle to your September weekends. On top of all this, Mars is favoring you above all other signs. There is so much to talk about!
There is one little thing that might slow you down a bit, though, but not for long. Mercury, your ruling planet, will be retrograde from September 9 to October 2. You are used to this, though, for Mercury goes into his backward slide three times a year for three and a half weeks each time.
The reason a retrograde happens, according to the mythological story, is that Mercury was the product of an affair that Zeus had with Mercury’s mother, Maia (one of the seven sisters of the Pleiades). When baby Mercury was born, Zeus didn’t want to openly admit the affair, but when he met baby Mercury, a precocious little child, he had to admit how smart and clever he was and agreed to give him a place on Mt. Olympus, where his brothers and sisters lived (they were other deities). The terms of that deal are important here: Zeus required Mercury to remain close to the Sun, and whenever little Mercury would wander and travel more than 27½ degrees away from Zeus (the Sun), Zeus would pull him back—hence, we have Mercury retrograde.
Back to September. Mercury will start to retrograde in your fifth house of true love, leisure, fun, children, and creativity, so the delays or changes in direction you experience this month are likely to crop up in these areas. You may have planned to travel with your sweetheart but find out you can’t—obligations at work or home may cause you to rethink the timing of your trip. Or you may have wanted to find a tutor for your child to help with a subject he or she is struggling with but may feel you need a different tutor with better teaching skills. A creative project you are working on may need to have parts redone or need to go in a new direction. Those are just a few examples to get you thinking of how Mercury might affect you as it travels first in Libra and then backs into Virgo.
Mercury will keep going backward in Libra, but then on September 23 will retrograde into Virgo, your home sector. You may see changes or delays concerning activity at home (such as a renovation or repair job) or other property, or need to rethink a plan for a certain family member, such as a parent. If you had been thinking of buying a vacation home, you may change your mind when your bid is rejected because the home owner set the rental price too high for your taste. Again, these are examples I thought of to get you thinking of how Mercury retrograde might affect you. As a Gemini, you are a flexible person, and that will always allow you to outwit Mercury. After all, Mercury is your ruling planet and is responsible for your awesome intelligence and ability to continually come up with a plan B when you hit a roadblock.
Two weeks before the start of Mercury retrograde, you begin to feel his slowdown. Mercury will go direct on October 2, and I find at the end of any Mercury retrograde period, he returns to normal fairly quickly, but it’s always wise to leave a space of several days at the end (October 2) for safety before acting.
Now let’s talk about the new moon last month that occurred on August 27 in Virgo, 4 degrees, your fourth house of home and family. That new moon will affect you strongly and positively in September and beyond. You will have opportunities to make your home comfortable and more stylish, and what makes it so exciting is that Mercury, which rules Virgo, was not yet retrograde at the time the new moon appeared, and Mercury would be in perfect angle to Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Gemini, all in your favor. Pluto rules basements, wall structure, plumbing and, believe it or not, also de-cluttering, all favorable areas for you to look into to improve your home experience as September begins. Pluto is in your eighth house, which rules all kinds of financial activities including loans, such as mortgages and home improvement loans. If you are “shopping” for money, it looks as though your banker would be willing to approve a sum for you.
Uranus, on his best behavior, will zing a missive to Venus over September 17-19, so an unforeseen romantic meeting could occur, or you may receive a special surprise from the person you married to or are dating. Life will be glorious.
Interest rates are mounting, and with the Sun and the new moon in hard angle to Mars, you may hesitate about buying a house or putting furniture on a credit card at this moment—you might opt to wait and see if those interest costs come down by early March, your next window on making a move or buying expensive furniture.
Mars, newly in Gemini, is a topic I wrote a lot about last month in your August report. (You can always access last month’s report on my website Astrologyzone.com. Look for the blue box at the bottom of every page of your current forecast that says, “View Previous Month.)
On my app “AstrologyZone Daily Horoscopes”(and more), available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, once you are in your monthly forecast (see the menu—the little three-line “hamburger” in the upper left-hand corner), simply tap on the previous month to get that month’s forecast.
Mars in Gemini is making you a person on the go and in the limelight. You may be in airports much more often than you have been previously—perhaps the pandemic kept you locked inside, and if so, this trend, which is a very long one, will extend to March 25, 2023. It will be very liberating. You will have what everyone wants—supreme control over the direction of most events, freedom, and the ability to have what you want now. (A lot depends on how you conducted your life previous to this trend. Of course, the soon-to-be convicted criminal would not enjoy these privileges. All new aspects in astrology point back to the person you were and the choices you made prior to a great new aspect.)
Mars’ usual stay in a sign is six or seven weeks. This time Mars will stay in your sign until March 25 because Mars will retrograde from October 30, 2022, to January 12, 2023, in the middle of his stay in Gemini. The last time Mars went retrograde in Gemini was during the period November 15, 2007, to January 30, 2008, and prior to that, we have to go back to October 28, 1943, until January 10, 1944, so there is a good chance you may not have been born yet. As you can see, this doesn’t happen very often.
Mars in Gemini, your first house (whether you have a Gemini birthday or have Gemini rising), suggests you will be very focused on how you appear in the world. In fact, you may decide to go to a cosmetic surgeon, dermatologist, or a cosmetic dentist to have changes made to your face, to look younger. If this is something you plan to do, you must do it well in advance of Mars retrograde on October 30, or put off the idea until after March 17 (for a lot of reasons that’s the date.) Mars’ rabble-rousing little brother Mercury will be retrograde in September, so if you are about to make improvements to your face, do it in the first week of October, after October 2. Get my Moonlight Phases app (Apple App Store or Google Play Store—search Susan Miller) to make sure the moon is not void of course at the time of your appointment. Your face is important!
You may redo your image in terms of the clothing you wear too, perhaps with the help of a stylist or by doing research in all the fashion magazines you love. You may feel you’ve been dressing too dowdy, older than you your age belies or older than you feel inside. If so, whether you are male or female, this trend of Mars will help you update your look to one that is chic and more in tune with the “you” you have become. Gemini is associated with youth, so this visit of Mars could bring subtle (or extreme), but very welcome, changes. You may ask your hair stylist to suggest changes in the way you wear your hair or its color.
You may also change your name. If you are woman, perhaps you will soon be married, or if a writer of either sex, to turn your pen name into your legal name. Creative people, such as actors do this, as do musicians and designers. Or you may have never liked your name and will go to the courts to have this rectified.
Mars in your sign will make you more confident, more assertive, and more attractive. Mars first went into Gemini on August 20, 2022, and will remain until March 25, 2023, and, as said, in the middle of that trend, you won’t make as much progress but revisit a situation from October 30 to January 12. No planet regulates its orbit immediately after being retrograde, so always leave a space of days. Mars won’t fully regulate his orbit until March 16 (the date Mars works back to 25 degrees 37 minutes, the degree he was at when he went retrograde October 30, and even though he’ll go direct January 12, he won’t be fully healthy until March 16). Mars will slide all the way to early degrees of Gemini and will have to trek back to where he started.
This trend of Mars in Gemini will raise your profile, and you will be careful about your reputation and good name. In the New Year, even before Mars is fully regulated, you will find yourself in a leadership position, and you will also find that people are paying attention to what you have to say.
You have a glorious full moon in Pisces, 18 degrees, due September 10, which will light your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame. This is such a special full moon because Uranus, in very tight mathematical aspect, will bring you one or possibly two lovely career surprises. Allow a plus five days after this full moon appears to hear its message. This full moon could be a moment of great reward. You may get a powerful, new, and prestigious client if you are self-employed, or if you work for others, you might get a promotion or offer from a competitive company. Whether you work for others or yourself, you might get exciting publicity from the press or an award from a respected organization. Neptune will conjoin the full moon, so your image will be “out there” for one and all to see, and your name will be on the lips of many important people in your industry. This is a five-star moment, dear Gemini.
All Gemini will have something to be excited about the developments of the full moon September 10. If your birthday falls on June 9, plus or minus five days, you will benefit quite a bit from this full moon. The same is true if you have Gemini rising or your natal moon in Gemini at 18 degrees, for you, too, will benefit in a very noticeable way. If your natal chart does not fit one of these categories, look to see if you have a natal planet at 18 degrees Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius. You can allow a plus or minus five degrees. No matter what you see in your chart, this full moon is chock full of goodies for you, and fun is on the way.
Let’s move to the days that come after this full moon. If you feel like inviting friends to your home for a cocktail or a dinner party to welcome the new season, choose the weekend of September 17-18. Venus, still in Virgo, your house of home, will receive a surprise and happy energy from Uranus in Taurus. This aspect will peak on Monday, September 19, and you will feel it earlier, as it builds over the weekend of September 17-18.
If you are single, the new moon due September 25 in Libra, 3 degrees, will bring the best opportunity you’ve had in 2022 to find a new romantic relationship, and intrigued, you may cultivate that relationship into something enduring. It will be important to circulate in the days and weeks ahead, after the new moon arrives on September 25.
If you are attached and already share love with a person your life now, you will have more quality, fun time to spend together. You can recapture the fun you used to have, so take that opportunity and make the very most of it.
Matters related to the care of children will also glow. If you hope for a pregnancy or news from the adoption agency you had filed with some time ago, you may get happy news now. If you have children, thanks to this new moon, you will get outstanding joy from your children, no matter what their ages, so plan an outing for one of the weekends in early October. This new moon will partner with Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, in your friendship sector, so friends will also play a part in your happiness. A new moon is operative for weeks and months ahead, but is strongest in the 10 days that follow its appearance, so be sure to make plans.
Your creativity is also about to experience a big boost, for the same house that rules love and children also rules your artistic expressions. This is a new moon, so a new project may come up, and if so, it is likely to pay well and be exactly your cup of tea.
Venus will be the most important planet at this new moon, September 25, and happily, Venus will be speaking directly to Pluto in Capricorn, your financial eighth house. No matter what you hope to do regarding your home living situation, it will likely require money, and the money will appear thanks to this aspect. Alternatively, if you are hoping to help a parent with a living situation, Venus in your home sector will help you with that, too. If you need to hire an aid or find a suitable assisted living situation, although the task may seem initially hard, this new moon (and the previous one, August 27) will work to your favor. If you have searched but have found no solution, continue, for if you give this matter another try, this time may turn out to be the charm.
This is a powerful time in 2022 for you, with many parts of your life lit up, and it will require your attention. Mars, planet of high action, just recently moved into Gemini last month on August 20 to stay until March 25, 2023. Usually, Mars would only stay in one sign of the zodiac for six weeks, but you will have Mars to yourself for seven months. Mars is a high energy planet, so you will have to pace yourself in the coming weeks to deal with all the activity that is just cranking up.
Mars will put you in the spotlight as you will be starting a new chapter of your life. Mars is the natural ruler of your solar eleventh house of friendship and groups, so you may be joining or leading a community where members of the group have strong common interests. With Mars underscoring Gemini, your talent in communication will be central to your purpose and to your success. Mars teaches you how to compete well, too, particularly in the business world by boosting your courage, energy, and drive.
Next month, Mars will go retrograde on October 30 but will slow down earlier, by mid-month, so it will be vital to launch an important product or event before Mars turns weak in retrograde on October 30. You will feel Mars begin to slow down two weeks before the official retrograde date. When Mars is retrograde, all tasks take longer and more energy to complete. Mars does not retrograde often, so we tend to take Mars’ assistance for granted in all competitive situations, and when Mars is not there to help, we wonder why projects seem arduous.
Mars will retrograde from October 30, 2022, to January 12, 2023, at which time Mars will still be groggy and need time to ramp up. Mars will be perfect and back in good shape by March 16, but I am not sure you would have to wait that long. The new moon of January 21 is a beauty, and it’s in Aquarius, ideal for beginning anything important to you, such as to begin showing a major idea or new product or service—or a new romantic relationship.
In the meantime, this month, little copycat Mercury is about to sleep because he sees his big brother Mars preparing to sleep, and he wants to beat his brother to the punch, so Mercury will go retrograde first. Mercury will be retrograde from September 9 to October 2, so if you cannot wait until late January 2023 to unveil your current project, time your actions near October 7 to October 10, for that, too, would be a superb window for making a major initiation. Any later than early October and you will be getting too close to Mars beginning to slow down. You see why your aim must be very steady when you are choosing a date for an important action.
Something seems to be bubbling up with your residence or other property that you might own, hope to buy, rent, or sell. You might be in the mood to redecorate your home prior to the year-end holidays. You can make repairs and build a vision board of all the items you want to add—start in early October. While it’s not a good time to sign papers or close on a house or condo apartment, nor is it a good time to buy furniture, a rug, mattress, or any one of the many types of electronic products (including kitchen appliances), there are things you can do when Mercury is retrograde.
It’s a good time to browse, and you can even move house—as long as you’ve labeled every box on all sides and are working with a reputable company and provided you have already signed papers well BEFORE September 9, the date Mercury officially goes out of phase. Never give tax records or jewelry to the moving people if you are close to Mercury retrograde—bring those yourself.
Your career is to reach a high point at the full moon in Pisces on September 10, influential for five days after it occurs (and one day prior to its appearance). This full moon is an important one for you—it brings career honors—a possible promotion or offer for a new job—along with plenty of attention to the fine work you’ve been doing. If you are self-employed, you are likely to get special, featured publicity—your reputation in your industry or world at large will be at a high point.
Happy surprises will abound at this full moon September 10 for Neptune will be shining at the top of your horoscope in your solar tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement. The full moon in Pisces will be within 6 degrees of Neptune, and both will be in this lofty professional house, so it appears your image will be out in the world. Your face may be on TV or in print, and the buzz that will be swirling about you will bring a flurry of positive comments.
Additionally, Mars in Gemini will contact your ruler, Mercury, in your fifth house of creativity, so you will keep coming up with original ideas. Mars will also interact with Saturn, so the decisions you make will be lasting ones.
Life won’t be only about caring for home and family and enjoying career accolades. Your love life is getting a major boost too, thanks to the new moon in Libra on September 25 and in the weeks to come. “Love-me” Venus will be presiding over the events, and her presence is given more weight at this new moon because Venus is the ruler and guardian of the cusp of Libra, your fifth house of love. Uranus, on his best behavior, will zing a missive to Venus over September 17-19, so an unforeseen meeting could occur, or you may receive a special surprise from the person you married to or are dating. Life will be glorious.
