A Note from Susan Miller
October is due to be a unique month that will not be easy for any of us. The planets will be in a frenzy, the likes of which I have rarely seen. If you feel you’ve seen enough surprises this year, I am sorry to report that there will be a slew of them in October. Warrior Mars is one of the prime instigators, but surprise-a-minute Uranus will play a leading part, too. Saturn, Pluto, and Mercury will stir the pot as well and add to the turmoil.
When the planets get this way, it is because they want to shake up the status quo and force us to confront languishing situations that many of us would prefer not to address. As you see, there is method in the planets’ madness. One thing you can rely on is that when planets are in harsh angle to each other, the universe brings enormous energy so that you can deal with what happens. Sweet aspects—trines and positive, happy conjunctions—are always prized, but they make us a little lazy. Squares and oppositions are the hard aspects, but they sure do bring high energy. The universe will always give you the tools you need when it brings you a challenge.
Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
If you are thinking it seems like no one is happy, and everyone is mad at everyone else, you’ve not seen anything yet—October brings conflict to a high point. In all the years I have done astrology, it’s rare to see the planets thumping around, yelling at each other, offering little or no support. Everyone will feel the tension in the air, and you will see it in your own life, on TV, and on the news, but you are luckier than most, because Mars, the action planet, although currently retrograde, is still in a highly compatible place to help you.
Mars has been in Aries for a very long time. Mars usually stays in a sign six weeks, but in 2020, Mars is staying in Aries for six months, and that has advantages and disadvantages. Mars will not go direct until November 13, so if you have anything important to accomplish, see if you can delay it until the second half of November.
Not only will Mars be retrograde this month, but Mars’ little brother Mercury will also be retrograde from October 13 to November 3. During that time, miscommunications and delays will be common, including the mail and shipments, which could be late or missing. It’s not the time to buy a new smartphone, computer, vacuum cleaner, or dishwasher. Avoid the electronics store—this year, the stores will be having incredible sales long before Christmas. That’s not why I am telling you to wait, though—it is because you would never enjoy the product you buy while Mercury is retrograde. Mercury rules electronic chips and the moving parts in machines, making the possibility of malfunctions very real.
Mercury and Mars, both in retrograde, will slow down everything. You will want to make progress, but obstacles will keep getting in the way, and you will have to attend to those first. Everyone is in the same boat, so just diligently put one foot in front of the other, and when things go wrong, try to laugh.
