Monthly News from Susan Miller
This is a big month! Two eclipses are due, the one April 30 was a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus, and it will affect you for six months or more. The second eclipse will be a total eclipse of the moon (lunar full moon eclipse) in Scorpio, and it will affect you near the time it will occur because full moons tend to deliver news quickly and bring conclusions or endings—something ends and something else begins. Two weeks later, a sweet new moon (not an eclipse) in Gemini will appear on May 30. That is not half of what’s happening in May!
Your May Horoscope for Gemini
You likely have been planting potent seeds for your career lately, and as May opens, this will become obvious. You have a remarkable, and enviable, buildup of planets in your prestigious tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement. The four planets are Jupiter, Venus, Neptune, and Mars, all in the same sign of Pisces. Mars’ position is particularly telling—this is the first time in two years you’ve had assertive, competitive Mars in this house.
Mars entered your career sector on April 14 and will continue to be there until May 24. That makes this one of the most critical parts of 2022 to make a name for yourself. If you have already established yourself, you can take a big step up the ladder of success and do something important that will have others in your industry—and the world—buzzing about you. This is no ordinary time, it is one that will afford you an enormous professional opportunity to show leadership and the range of your talent.
It is also quite telling that Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, is still in this house but nearing the end of his stay in this part of your chart. Once Jupiter leaves Pisces on May 10, Jupiter will move on to another sign, and I will tell you more about that in a moment. Jupiter will be back to where he is now, in Pisces, from October 27 to December 20, 2022, and then not again until April 2033.
Of the two periods you will have Jupiter in Pisces, your lofty career house (now, and later in the year), you have greater aspects now for you also have Mars at your side, something you won’t have again until March 2024. Jupiter is not due back in Pisces until 2033, so in 2024 you’ll have Mars in Pisces, but you won’t have Jupiter in Pisces. With each planet having very different orbits, it’s hard to get them together where we need them to be. Jupiter spends about a year in each house it visits and has been here since late December 2021 (and earlier for a few months in 2021), but it will take 12 years for Jupiter to return to the place he is now. Therefore, I want you to take career opportunities seriously in May and work now with great concentration on your goal.
Along with Jupiter, Venus was in your tenth house at eclipse time—which is significant—but Venus is set to leave on May 2. Venus’ placement last month shows that both VIPs and those who report to you adore you.
Neptune, the planet of imagination, creativity, and originality is in this prestigious tenth house too, and he is not going anywhere until he dips his toe into the next sign (Aries) in 2025, where he will stay for 14 years. While Neptune is in Pisces, your face—your silver image—could be known far and wide. Many people never experience this trend because Neptune takes 168 years to revolve around the Sun. Each of us typically experiences a Neptune tour of about 6 to 7 of the 12 houses in the horoscope. (If you live to 100, as many people do, you may see Neptune in 8 houses of the horoscope, depending on how early or late you entered the Neptunian cycle at birth.) As you see, not everyone gets to host Neptune for 14 years in their house of fame and honors, but you have been and will continue to have that special privilege.
This month, Mercury will go retrograde from May 10 to June 3, part of the time in the sign Mercury rules, Gemini, and part of the time (starting May 22) in Taurus. You already began feeling the slowdown of Mercury as early as the last 10 days of April.
On May 29, Mars will conjunct Jupiter, making this a big deal day, possibly one of your favorite days of the month—a great day to talk about a new project.
Astrology is not a cookbook of aspects. You can’t look at only one ingredient in the cake, but rather, you must consider and weigh all the ingredients. You have so much going for you that I don’t want you to let Mercury retrograde mess up a good, strong month. Be careful, but not frozen. Indeed, I don’t want you to sign a contract or make a big commitment too close to May 10. (That also is the date that Jupiter leaves Pisces.) I would say that the last day you can give verbal or written consent to a project would be May 3, leaving a week of separation from the date Mercury goes retrograde.
Speaking of May 3, this will be a wonderful day, because that’s the day Jupiter and Pluto will be in conversation, considered a big feature of 2022. When these two planets make a harmonious aspect, that’s big news, and it will only happen once in 2022, on May 3, when Jupiter in Pisces, in very late degrees, will precisely signal Pluto in Capricorn in the same late degrees. If you need to sign papers, this is your day, May 3, for Mercury retrograde will be closing in, but far enough away from the retrograde until May 10.
I also love the following day, May 4, when Mercury (your ruler) at a friendly angle to Uranus will send you good surprises. Work on a digital project, write or give a speech, or develop an advertising or social media campaign—whatever you do will be original. Uranus, the “higher octave” of Mercury, takes the intellectual, analytical, accurate facts that Mercury gathers and synthesizes the material into something very new and innovative. Your mind will be lit with 100,000 points of light.
Now let’s consider what will happen when Jupiter leaves Pisces, exiting your tenth house of professional achievement and moving into Aries, your eleventh house of hopes and wishes. The eleventh house is also the house of financial profit achieved from work done earlier, and this is particularly noticeable if you are self-employed. Jupiter will spend a year in Aries, and you will reap dividends from the work you did earlier, in 2021 and 2022.
The ancient Greek astrologers referred to the eleventh house as the house of joy where a dream can be materialized right before your eyes. Platonic relationships—friendships—fall in this house, so it seems possible that a friend will figure prominently and help in your success. You will also make many new friends, for Jupiter expands everything he touches. You would gain from being part of a professional or social group, or you could by join a charitable organization or form a community of your own.
You may do volunteer work and rally others to your cause. Or if you are active on social media like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Clubhouse, YouTube, or TikTok and set a community goal, you could gain quite a few followers in 2022. No matter what your dream is, hang on to it tightly because if you work hard toward it, showing the universe your intent, this is the year you would see the fulfillment of it.
Now let’s turn to the eclipses, for they are back, and because they are some of the strongest tools the universe uses to create change, we need to look closely at them.
The first eclipse came one day before the start of May on April 30, and it arrived as a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus, 10 degrees. This eclipse came conjunct Uranus, the planet of completely unexpected events and news. At a new moon, the Sun and moon conjoin, so Uranus is touching both. With the moon touched by Uranus, it suggests you may have a sudden expense, and possibly, news that would require you to take a trip quickly.
Alternatively, you may see changes regarding your ability in writing or speaking. I find sometimes a client leaves when they are “eclipsed out” of your life, perhaps due to a budget cut. I find that often the eclipse will ask for a sacrificial lamb—something to give up—before you get something else that is better. I am always grateful when the universe asks me to give up something if I was not overly attached to it. Your ability with writing, speaking, editing, translation, coding, and research certainly could be highlighted, and for Gemini, this is usually an important part of your life—you excel in communications.
The April 30 eclipse lit your twelfth house of secrets, so a project you are involved in would likely require you to keep it confidential. You may find when working on your day-to-day assignments, working alone will be most productive, for the twelfth house, where the eclipse will fall, is a house that engenders solitude. When alone, you can concentrate and reflect on complex matters.
I love that Mars in your prestigious house of career success is in direct support of the Sun, new moon, and Uranus at this solar eclipse on April 30, suggesting this eclipse may realize a formal opportunity that you will be excited about doing. It looks like you won’t be able to discuss it with others for a while, not until the project is finished and ready to be seen.
The twelfth house is also the area of the chart that rules mental health, for it has strong ties to the subconscious mind. This is why working alone would be so productive—it brings creativity up to the surface from the deep well of your subconscious mind. If anything has given you anxiety or made you worry, this eclipse, felt strongly in the first half of May, may convince you to reach out for help from a licensed therapist, perhaps through a teleconference.
With the Sun, new moon, and Uranus in this house, your dreams are likely to be vivid, and you may get a clue to a puzzling mystery (regarding any area of your life) through a dream. At any rate, your instincts and intuition will be exceptionally strong. Listen to your gut—it’s there for a reason, even if initially you have no facts to back up this feeling.
This month’s other eclipse, a lunar full moon eclipse (they always come in pairs) will fall on May 15/16 in Scorpio, 25 degrees, lighting your sixth house of work projects. Something is coming to an end now, and it seems to relate to a project at the office or one you are doing at home for yourself. I mentioned earlier that you might see someone leave, and if so, this would be the time it would happen. (You might want to allow one week after May 15 to hear the message of this eclipse, but it would probably come sooner, closer to May 15.) This person could be an assistant or other member of your team tied to your office work, or it could be a housekeeper or nanny at home. The person would report to you and not be someone high level that you report to in any way.
This eclipse will also ask you to watch your health and do whatever you can to ward off colds and flu. Uranus is in wide opposition to the May 15 lunar eclipse, with a space of 10 degrees, which is at the border of significance, so I am not sure if Uranus will bring up a surprise health matter or not. If anything seems off, out of an abundance of caution, go to the doctor to nip it in the bud. This would also a good time to have an annual medical checkup, do screenings, and include a visit to the eye doctor and dentist. The Sun will be square Saturn, an indication you may be overworking yourself or feeling a lot of pressure to perform.
On the plus side, you have Pluto at a great angle to the Sun mid-month, at the lunar eclipse on May 15, an indication you are about to make good money from a deal you are discussing. Pluto is in your house of royalties and commissions, so if you can work on a performance-based deal, you’d do better than if you worked on a straight salary. (You may try a combination of the two, if you can’t work on all commissions or if you are a little afraid to do so.) Mars and Neptune will be supportive of this full moon lunar eclipse too, and this bodes so well for creativity and artistic expression. Use your imagination, and share your thoughts with VIPs.
The Sun will move into air-sign Gemini on May 20, instantly making you feel more energetic and ready to take on the world. On May 23, when the mighty Sun will speak directly to good-fortune Jupiter in compatible fire-sign Aries, you may see how dearly a friend cares about you and wants to help you. This is a magical day, and you will feel the benefits of this aspect over the previous weekend, May 21-22.
Next, let’s look at May 29 as Mars will conjunct Jupiter, making this a big deal day, possibly one of your favorite days of the month. This happens rarely, only one day every two years, but always in a different sign. Mars will conjoin Jupiter in entrepreneurial Aries, a great day to talk about a new project—something that few people have achieved before you. Mars will bring energy, and Jupiter will contribute generous compensation. They meet, as said, in Aries, the sign of the bud, the renewal, the birth of new life, so that’s why learning something new, doing something new, or meeting someone new (in business or friendship) would be so fitting. Jupiter and Mars will conjoin in your eleventh house of hopes and wishes at this time. Here again, a friend will be recommending you or helping you achieve success. Put a gold star on this day.
Another big moment of the month will come near the very end on May 30 with the new moon in Gemini, 9 degrees (not an eclipse). Dear Gemini, this new moon is saying it is time to launch something dear to your heart. Mercury, the lead planet at this time, will receive favor from Pluto, so a VIP is likely to look kindly at your abilities, ideas, and requests. With Pluto orbiting in your financial eighth house, you are likely to make a very favorable financial deal. Mars and Jupiter will still be orbiting close to one another at the time of this new moon (one day after their dazzling conjunction) and play a part in making this new moon more beneficial for you.
Use this new moon to start something dear to your heart. Wait a few days to launch it as Mercury will be retrograde until June 3. This will be a powerful month, no matter what Mercury does to slow things down.
When it comes to romance, June will be a far better month for you. The new moon of May 30 in Gemini will give you a big boost and increase your charisma. Adding to that enchanting outlook is Venus, to enter Gemini for the first time in 2022, from June 22 to July 17, a time when your magnetism will be high.
The full moon of June 14, if single, may have you thinking about marriage, or if married, giving a spark to your union to make it more fun. I promise, June will be fun, but in the meantime, you have plenty to accomplish in May.
This will be a critical month for your career, a turning point, when a long-held dream may come true. It’s even possible that you never dreamed that the opportunities you are seeing now would ever come up—it may have been in your mind, a career break that was to be too fantastic, too extreme, too big, and yet, here you are, today, and that opportunity is becoming real and tangible before your eyes.
Jupiter is still circulating in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement, a place Jupiter took up at the end of December, and this planet of goodness will leave for another part of your chart on May 10 this month. (Jupiter will pop back to this area when he scoots back to Pisces for a final goodbye from October 27 to December 20 this year, not to return to this career part of your chart for 12 years.) If you still need to present to a powerful person to advance a professional dream, do it within the first 10 days of May.
You not only have Jupiter but action-hero Mars in that same part of your chart. Mars first entered Pisces on April 14 and will remain until May 24 this month. Mars will give you the push you need to compete in a winning way.
At the same time your career excitement is going on, you have just come through a solar eclipse in your twelfth house of solitude (April 30). With the Sun positioned there, it appears you are withdrawing to do research or writing, and because the moon is there too, this project will be quite lucrative for you. Uranus was conjunct the Sun, so surprising twists and turns are due, and the media seems involved—television, cable, the digital world, or publishing. These disciplines are Gemini’s forte, and now your talents are being recognized. Keep working on your craft—develop your talents to a higher level of sophistication. With your dazzling aspects, you can do it.
The lunar eclipse, a full moon, on May 15/16 could bring a project to a culmination and finish. It seems tied to the work you were concentrating on while behind the scenes this month. This lunar eclipse is beautifully oriented to Mars in your prestigious professional sector, so it is likely your work is going to be well-received. With a powerful nod from Pluto, money is rolling in, and the sum may be substantial.
Keep an eye on your health, for if you neglect it, this full moon eclipse will remind you to care for your body. Dear Gemini, you are often so busy living in your head that you sometimes forget you even have a body. Attend to annual exams and screenings, and when your doctor gives you the advice to feel even better than you do now, you’ll be on top of the world.
The new moon (not an eclipse) in Gemini on May 30 will be another important moment to start a shiny new chapter in any realm that inspires you. The best part is that Jupiter will have moved into Aries by now, setting your social life on fire. Mars, the ruler of Aries, will be orbiting tightly in unison with Jupiter, putting the passion back in your closest relationships and encouraging you to bond closer to friends.
Keep in mind that Mercury will be retrograde all month, from May 10 to June 3. Arrange your schedule to avoid making key decisions during that period, for Mercury is Gemini’s ruling planet. This month, Mercury will be exceedingly strong, for Mercury will be in Gemini. Be careful and deliberate in all you do. If you have a contract to sign, show it to your lawyer first—you may be told certain clauses need to be clarified or made fairer for you.
It’s a month with one success after another—you will need to stop occasionally, just to catch your breath.
