A Note from Susan Miller
My former husband, Don Miller, died this morning, Saturday, May 1, at 8:34 AM in the city we always lived, New York City, Manhattan.
He was in a hospital, and the nurse called today to give us—me and my two daughters, Chrissie, who lives here in New York City, and Diana, who flew in from Los Angeles—the heartbreaking news. They did say his passing was natural, as his organs failed him. They had kept him very comfortable, and we were told he never felt pain. There were no decisions to make, and there was nothing that could be done. The finality of death is so chilling. I felt so sorry he could not have lived longer and had to pass this way.
Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
A lot is going on in your life, and some of the best activity may involve your work and career. Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, is positioned at the top of your chart (where the number 12 is on the face of a clock) and shining like a brilliant lantern about to put a big spotlight on you. This month is especially exciting, for Jupiter will temporarily move into your tenth house of prestigious career accomplishments, from May 13 until July 28.
That period is a little over ten weeks, and it’s meant to give you a preview of what is to come in even stronger force in 2022. Jupiter has not visited Pisces for 12 years, so you would be wise to take it seriously. If you have not focused too much on your career, you will now be acknowledged for your talents and experience, even if you are a beginner. The tenth house, where Jupiter is headed on May 13, relates to your accomplishments and how you live your life. It is that high point in the chart that sums up your legacy in life, that is, what you will become known for in your area of expertise and with your constituency. Your community may be wide, such as the world at large, or more focused on a specific area—it does not matter—this point shows what others will admire in you.
During the pandemic, some people reassessed their careers and discovered they were not in a role that satisfied their souls or used their innate talents. I always feel a break in the chain of events is valuable for everyone, for it gives us all time to think and step back to get a new perspective.
If you feel passionate about pushing your career in a new direction, you can take small or large steps now toward your goal. You need a plan, and being the intellectual, analytical creature that you are, you are most capable of creating one. How do you know if you are doing the work meant for you? If you wake up in the morning and can’t wait to get started each day, you know for sure you are on the right path. If you dread doing your work, that’s a sign that you need to think about some sort of change.
On the other hand, if you love your life’s work that you have been doing since you finished your education, get ready to move forward in a new direction, at full throttle, in the coming weeks, and establish yourself in a new area of your work.
Since last December, Jupiter, the expansive planet of good fortune and luck, along with Saturn, the planet that teaches the value of taking on new responsibility and doing the hard work to establish a long-term goal, have been in your ninth house of publishing and broadcasting. You may be working on a book or screenplay, which could become so successful that it will change the direction of your life.
Saturn will remain in this ninth house area of your chart until March 7, 2023. After Jupiter spends ten weeks in Pisces, from May 13 to June 28, Jupiter will return to Aquarius, your ninth house, where Saturn is currently based, and finish his tour of duty there, leaving for good on December 29, 2021. As you see, an element of luck resides in this area of your chart—publishing and broadcasting.
There are other arenas ruled by this same ninth house, including international relationships. You may be working in a way that puts you frequently in touch with people abroad. You can do this from home without ever needing to leave your desk. It is also possible you’ll work for a company based nearby that was established and is still headquartered in a foreign country. Distant travel is possible too, but check out COVID hotspots first, and adhere to the recommendations of those in authority. You can also handle the import-export of ideas, or goods or services, from your city, so that’s another option.
Venus will tour Gemini almost all month, May 8 to June 2, suggesting you will be charismatic and charming.
Some Gemini may have gone back to college or graduate school, to use the time they’ve spent shuttered within constructively. Most colleges offer remote learning, so getting a higher degree has never been easier. If you didn’t go back to school earlier this year, you will get a second chance to do so, starting in August or September. There are many possibilities, and each of them could change your life for the better. Saturn is there, so you will have to make a strong effort, but what you build now, you will keep forever.
The new moon on May 11 in Taurus, 21 degrees, will light your twelfth house of privacy, meditation, and planning. You seem ready to strategize your new course, but you may also be a little restless. You’ve probably been feeling like a bird in a gilded cage, looking out at the world and yearning to fly. Pluto will support the new moon and Sun, suggesting you can transform your life now. Since Uranus will be traveling somewhat near the Sun and new moon, try to resist the urge to be impulsive. You will be quite intuitive, so during the evening, spend time daydreaming and plotting the details for what you’d like to do next.
The twelfth house is associated with the subconscious mind. With the new moon of May 11 appearing in this area of your life, you can make great progress if you’ve been working with a professional therapist. Pluto will support this new moon, so have faith that you will come to a new, insightful perspective that has eluded you previously. A new understanding can certainly change your life. Give your therapist a chance to help you work through the process with you.
The twelfth house also rules secrets, so alternatively you may be working on a new product launch that you must keep under wraps for competitive reasons. Of course, you may have a secret in your personal life, too. Whatever your secret might be, it is likely to move into public view once the Sun moves into Gemini on May 20.
You may also have more interactions with medical personnel after May 11. I know I shared that information with you in March and April, because you hosted Mars in Taurus, giving you this influence, and now you have another reason to have this type of interaction—a new moon in Taurus. It may be that you have a relative in a facility like a hospital or nursing home, and you will provide hope and cheer to that person or act as that person’s advocate. Alternatively, you could be scheduling your annual physical screenings—this would be a great time to start making those appointments.
Let’s turn to another topic—the whereabouts of energetic Mars. Mars was in Gemini recently, March 3 to April 23, which could have made you a little restless and impetuous. Now is not the time to act on matters, but it is a good time to plan, before you swing into action.
Mars moved into Cancer on April 23, to stay until June 11, suggesting you could be spending quite a bit of money, and it seems to be directed to your present or new home, one or more of your children, or another family member.
The full moon at the end of this month will be a lunar eclipse in Sagittarius, May 26. It will fall in your house of partnerships, so some sort of discussion or decision could be coming to critical mass at that time. Specifically, the focus may be on your spouse, long-time sweetheart, or a close business relationship with a partner or collaborator (agent, publicist, business partner, or another expert you hire to help you). Much depends on how things have been going all along, for this eclipse will further push things in the direction that has already been determined. If you have been very happy, this eclipse may bring an engagement or the arrival of a baby. (An eclipse of the moon often brings changes in the domestic condition, and a baby certainly does that.)
If you have been unhappy, a trial separation might be agreed upon to give you time to think. If you’re moving, see if you and your partner can take a vacation apart, and if you have small children, bring them with you. The pandemic has caused a lot of couples to feel they’ve had much too much togetherness. I see this over and over again—one element in life is frustrating, but the person experiencing this frustration (perhaps you or your partner) suddenly finds all of life needs to change. Suddenly, nothing seems right. This is what I call the “bleed effect,” for the frustration simply bleeds throughout your life, making you assume everything is wrong, when that is not true. Try to get to the core of what’s happening, and avoid making a radical change because later, you may wish you had not been hasty.
If your birthday falls on or near May 26, you will feel that eclipse more. Then, most Gemini will experience a life change, possibly an exciting event. You’ll have to see. The same is true if you have Gemini rising 5 degrees or have the natal moon or another planet in Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius at 5 degrees, in all cases plus or minus five degrees.
Eclipses come in pairs, so next month will have an eclipse in Gemini, June 10, and the closer your birthday falls to June 10, the more you will be driven to create your new life. If you have a natal moon in Gemini or a natal planet in Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius at 20 degrees, plus or minus five degrees, you will also notice changes with this eclipse.
There is a glitch, however, because Gemini is ruled by Mercury, and Mercury will go retrograde this month from May 29 to June 22. Again, June 10 will bring changes, but give yourself time to decide your options and choose the best ones for you. I will discuss the June 10 new moon in Gemini next month. For now, watch and listen. Never make an initiation on an eclipse, only respond to others. That bears repeating: Don’t set in motion any actions, but rather only respond to others’ comments and demands—and do so only after reflection of a day or two.
May will be a busy month. You seem to have finished a large project at the end of April, or you may have decided to hire someone. The start of May will be quiet by comparison. You will need rest after putting out so much energy in late April.
The new moon, May 11, would be a fortunate time to take care of your medical screenings and annual exams at the doctor and dentist. Check your eyesight, and schedule all the other tests you know you should for just after May 11. That one or two hours you spend with the doctor could add years to your life. You are always in motion, and you may think of these appointments as a nuisance, but they’re just the opposite—they can help you avoid illness. During the days following the new moon, make those appointments, and give yourself a little time to relax, too.
It is also possible that you’ll be working on a secret project that you can’t quite share with others yet. Keep things under wraps, for any small slip could sink this project. You may be in the visualization stage, imagining how the product or service you are focused on will take shape. You may want to make it different from competitive products on the market. A new moon in the twelfth house is excellent for going off by yourself and thinking deeply about the strategy you have decided you will use. You need to silence the cacophony of voices around you so you can hear the small voice within. Your intuition will be strong now—listen to it.
Mars is now in Cancer, moving through your second house of income. Your expenses may go up, but only for a short period, until June 11. You may make an expensive purchase, such as a car, or you could send a deposit to your college or your child’s summer camp. On the new moon, May 11, Mars will receive a powerful, shimmering beam from Uranus which might result in an unexpected check for you, which will come in handy in May.
The big news of the month will be the entry of Jupiter into Pisces for the first time in 12 years. Jupiter is the giver of gifts and luck and will only briefly stay in Pisces, from May 13 to July 28. This is meant to be a preview of a much longer visit of Jupiter to Pisces in 2022, which will take up the better part of the year.
This year’s short visit is extremely important for you nevertheless, for when Jupiter is in Pisces, Jupiter will enter your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement. You will start to have opportunities that will allow you to scale great professional heights in 2022. The coming weeks will simply get you ready and excited about all that will be possible for you in your career.
An eclipse of the moon will happen in your opposite sign of Sagittarius on May 26. It may mark either the start of a serious, binding love or business relationship or bring the end of one. Eclipses are harbingers of change, but often the change is very positive and necessary. How things will turn out will depend on the direction your relationship has been heading over the past weeks, months, and even years—eclipses are known to crystalize truth.
If you are ready to commit to marriage or a business collaborator, things will move forward quickly now. The universe has no patience with stagnation or the status quo—eclipses are sent to force you to make a decision. It seems more likely that you will like the news that comes to you from your partner now, for Jupiter, shining brilliantly in your sector of prestigious professional recognition, will signal your ruling planet, Mercury, in Gemini in an out-of-sign “trine,” denoting great harmony. This is a gorgeous aspect, suggesting news will be quite positive.
Keep in mind that Mercury is about to retrograde, so if possible, it would be best to sign papers next month, several days after June 22, the date Mercury goes direct. Better yet, wait until July if you cannot act early in May. I suggest May 12, when Mercury and Saturn will be in sync.
Venus will tour Gemini almost all month, May 8 to June 2, suggesting you will be charismatic and charming. Venus is known to have magnetic abilities—Venus teaches you not to try too hard, and if you let nature take its course, you will draw the right person to you. Of course, she also teaches you to always look your best. This is the ideal time to look for new things to wear and do anything you can think of to improve your looks. Venus is smiling on you know—take advantage!
