Gemini Horoscope for January 2023

Monthly News from Susan Miller

Dear Reader,

Happy New Year.

The day after Christmas I came down with terrible cold, so I spent the holidays inside recuperating and am now starting to feel better. I was so relived and grateful it was not COVID. Because I love to cook, I had made a big batch of chicken soup with many vegetables two months ago, and I have been living on that all week. I am so glad I have it.

I am excited to be back out at public events to speak and meet new people and reconnect with the ones I’ve met over the years. Unfortunately, because I’ve been sick, I had to cancel a few January appearances, including the special one on January 7 in Dallas, which is now rescheduled for February 18 in Dallas from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM with a lunch afterwards. At lunch I’ll be available to talk one-on-one and answer any questions you have. The topic will be the Year Ahead 2023, and I am honored to give the keynote speech

You have been dealing with Mars in Gemini since August 20, which is remarkable, because the usual length of stay in any one sign that Mars visits is seven weeks. This time, Mars is staying in Gemini for seven months, until March 25. There is a difference now, for Mars has been retrograde since October 30 (the reason Mars is spending such a long time in your sign), but on January 12, Mars will go direct in Gemini.

Have you noticed how everyone, it seems, has been looking to you for direction? If you have said to yourself, Can’t they figure out little things on their own? No. Lately they can’t, and they want to hear your opinion on just about anything. If you tried to see progress on any level, you may have felt you were walking up a down escalator, getting you nowhere. That will change now, for you have been dealing with Mars in a very slow orbit—that will change when Mars goes direct on January 12.

Although Mars will push things forward, you will still need to wait for Mars’ little brother Mercury, which went retrograde on December 29 for his typical three-and-a-half-week period. Mercury will go direct on January 18. For all practical purposes, life will improve after January 18—but leave a space of a few days before you start normal activities, like signing a contract for example. No planet normalizes instantly on the official date it goes direct.

Mercury is your ruler, so his retrograde affects you quite a bit. If anyone owes you money, it appears you have been waiting for it.

The planets that orbit closest to earth are the ones we are affected by the most when retrograde—Venus, Mars, and Mercury. Venus will go retrograde later this year, from July 22 until September 3. Mars will not retrograde again for another two years, and Mercury retrogrades every 12 weeks.

Even though Mars and Mercury will not go direct until January 12 and January 18 respectively, I feel if you have been waiting for money, it might come on January 6, the full moon in Cancer, 16 degrees, your financial second house of income. A check or wire may arrive within five days of January 6. There are other possibilities. Uranus will be in an ideal angle to the Sun, which is in your eighth house of other people’s money. Pluto will be in an ideal position to Jupiter, forming an opportunity from a sextile—this is quite an important aspect, and for those who know astrology, it is not exact but rather a close, out-of-sign sextile. Pluto is in your financial house, suggesting the sum you would be given would be substantial.

Uranus is the planet of surprise, so you might get a windfall—a bonus you are not expecting, a prize you may win, or news of an inheritance from a long-lost relative you never expected would remember you in their will. Cancer is the sign of family, the reason I feel the money could come from a member of your family (or from an ex who owes you money). The money is likely to come in a one-time payment.

You are lucky that you have two positive, sparkling lunations this month. The next one is a new moon in Aquarius at 2 degrees on January 21.

Mars is making sure you are the leader of the parade, so you may find it is easier to socialize and find a new relationship.

This new moon will encourage distant travel, import-export of ideas, goods, and services, and intellectual pursuits. This new moon could open opportunities in writing, speaking, lecturing, sales, and all kinds of research, including scientific research, and in publishing and broadcasting. If you have decided to go to college or graduate school, you may be sending in your essay and application if you hadn’t done so in November or by January 1 (depending on the university’s deadline for applications). This is a new moon, so it can open a new path for you. Mercury will be retrograde until January 18, so if you can, I would prefer you send in your application after that date, but ONLY if the college deadline is in late January or in February.

Travel will be quite glorious, so if you can travel, do. Perhaps you didn’t travel for the holidays, so you can take a little time now. You may get an assignment from an executive in a foreign country or from a company in your country but whose headquarters are in a foreign land. You may also hear good news about a citizenship question, visa, or residency status.

This new moon is certainly a peach, for it will receive lovely golden beams from Mars in Gemini and, even more importantly, Jupiter—the giver of gifts and luck will beam this new moon in a tight beneficial aspect. Something is about to make you very happy.

Jupiter is back in Aries as of December 20 and will remain in your eleventh house of hopes and wishes until May 16. Aries is a fire sign that blends perfectly with your air element of Gemini. The eleventh house is one of the finest houses of the horoscope—it rules joy, happiness, and, for those self-employed, reward from hard work done months earlier in your career. It rules a deep desire that can come to you, even against all odds—and that wish can be spiritual (I want a baby) or tangible (I want to own a house or condo). It can be anything at all as long as it exists in your heart, and you want it dearly.

One day to work on that dream will be January 24 when the Sun in Aquarius will signal Jupiter in Aries. This is a golden day—use it to your full advantage, for things are likely to go your way.

January 29 should be extra special too, for there are two aspects on that day that seem to speak directly to you. The first aspect has the Sun in Aquarius in ideal aspect to Mars in Gemini. You will be filled with energy and enthusiasm, and energy attracts energy—people will want to follow you wherever you go, and that includes VIPs. A great day to present an idea to someone in power for approval and possible funding of your intended project.

Also on the same day, Mercury and Uranus will be in perfect sync, making this day filled with happy surprises and a light, breezy feeling of spontaneity. Mercury will be direct by now, so it could be a perfect time to take a trip, near or far, possibly (especially if you live in the North) to a warm spot where palm trees sway and the water is a deep blue turquoise.

Venus will be in Aquarius from January 2 to January 26, an ideal place for you, dear Gemini. Romance can be fun in the second half of the month after Mars and Mercury go direct, particularly if you are single and hoping to meet someone new.

Meanwhile, in the first half of January, you might want to spend a little bit of the holiday cash you were given on some new clothes to get ready to step out. If you are attached, the day that Mars and Venus are in sync is a rare day, January 9. This is a Monday, but you will feel the glow over the preceding weekend, January 7-8, so you may want to plan a glorious dinner out or invite a friend over for a little post-holiday party.

Mars has been in Gemini since August 20, and considering the typical visit of Mars is usually only six or seven weeks, having Mars in your sign for so long can be exhausting. You have more time to go, too—Mars will not leave your sign until March 25. However, the coming weeks between January 12 and March 25 will be some of the sweetest for you to host this energetic planet.

Mars is making sure you are the leader of the parade, with many coming to you for advice and direction. Mars in your sign can make you more attractive too, so you may find it is easier to socialize and find a new relationship. At the same time, however, action-oriented Mars can also give you too much to do with too little time to get it all done. Mars in this position sometimes make you feel you have all your fingers in electrical sockets—too much stimulation. On the other hand, Mars in your sign will give more control than usual over the course of events. If challenged, you will go to the mat to defend your position, and stay to the finish. Mars is, after all, the warrior who gives you courage, determination, and drive.

Mars has been retrograding in Gemini since October 30, hampering your progress, and if you are single, making new romantic interests has probably felt “off.” The good news is that Mars will finally go direct this month on January 12. Like some who awakens after a long sleep, it will take Mars time to ramp up his energy after going direct. While you won’t feel Mars’ full blast of energy immediately—not until later in February—you will gradually see livelier vibrant change, with positive progress in your efforts. Indeed, each day will bring better news. This month, on January 29, Mars will contact the Sun and bring an especially favorable day for you to deal with any authority figure.

Earlier, on the full moon on January 6, happy news could arrive in regard to your income. If someone owes you money, it is likely to arrive at this time. If you have a new product to launch, wait a few days until after January 12 and place it on the market then. You might also get family money—a cash gift from a parent or an inheritance from a relative that remembered you in their will. Or you may win money on a TV game show. One way or another a windfall seems to be coming your way, and there will be an element of surprise in the money you receive because Uranus will be so friendly. Uranus will contact the Sun and your ruling planet Mercury, both in Capricorn, your house of other people’s money. This means the money you receive might represent a fee for work you did previously. The Sun rules your house of writing, speaking, and communication, so the money may come to you as payment for a successful project you completed.

There is other evidence this should be a fabulous month for financial news—Jupiter in Aries will be in an out-of-sign sextile to Pluto (an aspect of opportunity) linking to your eighth house of other people’s money. You may get a large bonus, fee, inheritance, prize, or attractive mortgage from the bank, as some examples.

This month is loaded with gems, for the January 21 new moon in Aquarius will be especially sweet.

If you want to bid on a job against others, send in your bid after the very fortunate new moon arrives, January 21.

If you can wait until the new moon of January 21 in the highly compatible sign of Aquarius, you’ll find everything will go even easier and better for you. This new moon could open the door to an important new publishing or broadcasting assignment, or in regard to a legal case. Either would likely bring positive results. Another area of gain would include study toward earning an advanced degree (or becoming a professor or other official in such an institution).

Alternatively, you might decide to take an exciting long-distance trip, which, if you have the time to take it, would work out gloriously. Any of these areas, all intellectual in nature, will open your perspective and to see larger possibilities for you to expand your personal growth than you have in the past. This new moon is so positive, you may feel a liberating glow from all you experience.

Mars in Gemini will be beautifully conversant with the Sun and new moon in Aquarius on January 21 and also to Pluto in a late degree of Capricorn, adding up to great cosmic support in the weeks and months to come, especially in the areas of travel, study, legal matters, broadcasting, and publishing (all areas you tend to excel in). At the same time, Mars will support Pluto and will be in an aspect of great strength. This indicates you can take painful experiences from your past and draw from them to transform into a healed, better version of “you” in weeks to come.

Venus will be in in Aquarius, a perfect place for you to enjoy romance and fun. Venus will enter Aquarius on January 2, staying until January 26. This is one of the best places you’ve had Venus in months. A favorite day for you could be January 9 when Mars in Gemini will contact his sweetheart Venus in Aquarius—a sublime evening in store for romance. You may not be aware of the depth and range of your own allure—it will be quite strong on January 9, and you will soon find out when others respond to you.

Mercury will be retrograde from December 29 to January 18, so prior to January 18, a former lover may want to reopen a relationship with you. See how you feel, keeping in mind that there was a reason you gave up on that relationship, but have a dinner together if you like. New relationships will go better in the last third of the month

Circle January 24 on your calendar when the Sun in Aquarius will work with Jupiter in Aries—it’s a day when things should please you in a magical way. Dreams can come true—take a step to grasp the one you have in your heart.
