A Note from Susan Miller
I am so happy to send you the August forecast, for it brims with happy surprises. July was an intense month for many readers, for we all were subject to two eclipses and Mercury retrograde. In comparison, August will be a breath of fresh air. Mercury is now direct, and we have one of the most beautiful new moons of 2019 on August 30 in Virgo. It will offer you an array of opportunities and many happy surprises in the last week.
Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
August will be glorious for you, dear Gemini. You’ve finished an entire month with Mercury retrograde, and when the trickster went direct on July 31, you gave out a sigh of relief. Don’t start diving into your ventures quite yet—you need a space of a few days at the very least before you sign contracts or make verbal agreements. I like August 5 or 6 for you to plan actions. Mercury always acts like Dennis the Menace at the start and end dates of the retrograde, which I call the bookend dates. You are almost there, and such good things await you in August!
You’ve also just come through two eclipses—one, a solar new moon eclipse on July 2, and the other, a tougher lunar full moon eclipse on July 16. Both hit your financial sectors, so you were thinking quite a lot about money and how to improve your income. Expenses appear to be running high, but it may be a temporary situation. There will be four more eclipses in this family of signs—Cancer and Capricorn. One will arrive on December 25 (a gorgeous solar eclipse that will help you financially), and after that, three in the first half of 2020—on January 10, June 20, and July 4.
This month there is a chance you might feel the message of last month’s eclipse within three days of August 2 or August 16. That’s because some people (about 15%) feel eclipses one month to the day after they occur, although most (about 70%) feel it in the month it occurs. A smaller number of readers (about 10%) feel eclipses one month to the day before they arrive—in this case, back on June 2 and June 16. No matter when the news of the eclipse arrived, your mind was on money matters. You might have paid off debts, sent estimated taxes, or received an old large bill that never reached your desk, but you realized you needed to pay it.

Turning your attention to this month, August will be tailor-made for travel. What a sunny, wonderful month you have in store! It starts with the new moon that will shine July 31 (in New York and LA) or on August 1 in Europe—those places are just examples of when the new moon arrives. What matters is the beautiful new moon will open up opportunities to hit the road and experience new sights and sounds in the entire two weeks that follow. Your timing will be ideal.
It looks like you will head to the airport, rail station, or hop in your car in the first or second week of August. With four heavenly bodies in your third house, which rules nearby cities, it is not likely you will go to a foreign country. Even so, it will surely be a fun trip. Jupiter in your partnership sector will be beaming golden rays to all the planets: Venus, Mars, the Sun and new moon, all in your third house, and that is sure to bring happiness, and possibly profit too, should you need to travel for work. With Mars there, you will be aching to go.
One set of days will be outstanding—August 5 and August 6—when good-fortune Jupiter will reach out to the Sun and shower you with luck, happiness, and also the promise of your seeing money.
The third house is also your communication house, so you may be doing what you do best—writing and speaking. Gemini is the scribe of the zodiac, known to be outstandingly talented in all the communication arts. This month it seems someone will discover that talent and be willing to discuss your book or a monthly magazine column, your screenplay, or the possibility of you hosting a podcast, radio show, or television show. Or you may be interviewing app developers, advertising agency experts, social media directors, editors, publicists, marketing people, or similar experts to fill a spot you had in mind.
Mercury, your ruler, nicely moving ahead this month, will be in friendly contact with Neptune, so you may be on film or doing a photo session. If you write music or work in the arts, you could make an important sale in early August.
Uranus will be in a feisty mood at the time of the new moon (in the first two weeks of August) and in a difficult 90-degree attitude toward the Sun and new moon—likely to bring up a surprise obstacle that will seem to come out of left field. Uranus is in your hidden twelfth house, so I am not sure how you can anticipate this. Since Uranus is the planet of all things unexpected, what you’re not looking at is what is possible. Sometimes we just have to be open to what happens. I will say that Uranus rules computer data, so protect your by backing everything up.
If your birthday falls on May 29, plus or minus five days, you will feel the benefits of this July 31-August 1 new moon the most. The same is true if you have Gemini rising at nine degrees or any natal planet in Gemini at that degree, plus or minus five degrees. You will have so much help from the Sun, new moon, Venus, and Mars, I say to you, do not stress. Just keep an antenna up for something out of the blue. You are an adaptable, flexible soul, so of all the signs, you deal with this kind of unexpected development best.
One set of days will be outstanding—August 5 and August 6—when good-fortune Jupiter will reach out to the Sun and shower you with luck, happiness, and also the promise of your seeing money. This is the day to schedule a negotiation, travel, have an interview or presentation, or hand in sample work to an editor. The accent will still be on your ability to persuade, to think and speak clearly, sell, write beautifully, and most of all, inspire others.
You may assume you have completed your long-distance travel, but I am not so sure. The full moon on August 15 in Aquarius at 22 degrees will be divinely compatible to your Sun. You may be boarding a plane again in the month’s second half within five days, plus or minus, of August 15. Travel is favored, and you may be designing a long-distance journey that you will take later in the year. You may be dealing with people abroad and shaping a venture. Alternatively, you may be talking about a publishing or broadcasting project or announcing you will go back to college, this time to graduate school, and preparing to sign up for classes.
That full moon on August 15 will attract shimmering vibrations from Jupiter in your house of partnership. This suggests that a middleman will help you see success at that time. It could be your agent, manager, business partner, writing partner, guidance counselor at college, art director, publicist, social media manager, or another person who collaborates closely with you. It also could be your marriage partner, your lawyer, banker, or someone else who believes in you and your idea and will go to the mat to see you do well.
At the full moon, something culminates and reaches the finish line. It seems you are very happy, but Uranus will still be thorny, poking at Mercury, your ruler. This means, despite all the good words you hear, you need to be cautious due to Uranus’ battle with Mercury. At the same time at this complex full moon, Saturn and Pluto will be beautifully oriented to Neptune, bolstering your reputation and the income you derive from such funds as commissions, royalties, licensing fees, venture capital, insurance payouts, a court settlement, and even divorce agreements.
As you move closer to the end of August, you will become fairly obsessed with your home or with your relationship with family members. You will have five heavenly bodies stacked up in your fourth house of home. There are so many ways you can use the combined energies of Mercury, Mars, Venus, and the Sun and new moon (right at the end of the month, August 30) to embellish your private life. (That is half the solar system!)
The fourth house is all about your physical space—how your apartment or house looks and feels, and also how your residential space supports your lifestyle. The new moon will allow you to make repairs, paint, reorganize storage, reconstruct, redecorate, or even move to a new house or condo entirely. Or you may buy, sell, rent, or look into renting a vacation cottage for a week or two. This new moon, falling so late in the month, will have dominion over your actions in early to mid-September.
There’s another part to the fourth house of home, and that is not to change your space, but to focus more of your time and attention on family and to nurture those bonds. You may decide to help your mother or father, such as to fix little things around the house, to help with bill paying or to find a new medical specialist, or in a more long-term manifestation, to locate a proper assisted-living facility for an aging relative who likes the idea of the move. Alternatively, you might want to find a companion to live with your mother at home. (That’s what we did with Little Mom when we found Annie to live with her for six years. Annie became a member of the family.) Or you might want to spend more time with your son or daughter or the new baby that has just been born into your clan. That little bundle of life will bring so much happiness to everyone in the family. If you want to rent a cottage and invite family to spend a fun week, it will be a decision you will always look back upon fondly.
Another big plus is that Uranus will stop picking on you at month’s end, and instead of driving you crazy by having people jump out of potted palms with news of another obstacle, will support all of your projects. Uranus in Taurus will send his sparkling beams to Mercury, Mars, Venus, and the new moon and Sun. This time, Uranus’ unexpected messages will be positive, welcome ones, and bring all kinds of joyous surprises.
Before I go, I have other days I want to point out, and they are simply spectacular. They will all lead to the new moon in Virgo on August 30, for the little planets will be there, bopping up and down, excited for the arrival of the new moon. They want to arrive early so that the gracious moon encapsulates all their good energies into that new moon that she then packages and sends out to you on August 30. These planets are moving slowly, so although they will occur earlier than August 30, you will absolutely feel them at this new moon
Here they are:
On August 21, Mercury and Jupiter will be communicating perfectly (they will be in a heavenly trine), and this could be the best moment of the summer for a Gemini. If you are closing on a house or signing a lease, you could not wish for a better day. Any contract signed on this day seems to bring a wonderful win-win situation for both parties.
On August 24, Venus and Mars will be in a rare dance of love in your home sector. Venus and Mars won’t conjoin again in Virgo like this (in your home sector) for more than 20 years. Give a cocktail party, dinner party, or barbeque, or cook up a highly romantic dinner for the one and only in your life. Or take your mother to lunch at a fabulous restaurant—she sacrificed for you, so it’s your turn to treat her.
Next, on August 26 (felt on August 25, too), you will have Venus in divine angle to Uranus—a perfect aspect for a direct hit by Cupid’s arrow, totally by surprise. You may feel thunderstruck. These days are full of fun and serendipity.
Finally, a very powerful aspect, Mars in heavenly trine (pure harmony) with Uranus on August 28—again, more surprises, this time in matters of home, real estate, decorating, or a gathering you have at your home
Can you believe your luck, dear Gemini? July may have been intense, but August seems primed for sheer happiness.
You will likely tap your considerable talents in communication during this busy month. The new moon on July 31-August 1 in Leo affecting the first two weeks of August, along with the Sun, Mars, and Venus, will all crowd into your third house, ruling this part of your life. If you are a professional writer, your agent will have a big part to play in your success in winning you fascinating assignments. Publicity is likely to follow you, too.
If you are self-employed and have a publicist, advertising agency, graphic designer, social media manager, or another expert, you will soon see you have hired a gem—someone energetic and effective in elevating you to the professional level you need to be. If you are the agent or publicist, for example, the talent that you represent will be solid gold for you.
Travel may also play a part in August, especially during the first half of the month, and it will be quite memorable and fun. This will be especially apparent in days that circle August 11, the date Jupiter goes direct after having been retrograde since April 10.
Uranus will be in hard angle to the Sun and new moon, creating sudden changes and occasional delays in travel plans and bigger problems with a contract. The nature of Uranus is to be unpredictable, so you can’t quite sidestep all his antics. You will need to be especially diligent about double-checking all details. If you do travel, check accommodations and appointments ahead of time, making sure you’ve packed all you will need and clearly marking all packages and luggage. Regarding your writing, speaking, or producing projects, again, you will need to make sure all the elements are buttoned up. If reporting on facts, have another person fact-check for accuracy.
The very start of August when Mercury goes direct would not be a favorable time to sign papers, for Mercury (agreements) will be at odds with Uranus, producing a jarring outcome. Much better days for signing will be August 5, August 6, August 21, August 28, or August 29.
Despite Uranus’ tendency to upset best-laid plans, Neptune shining in your tenth house of fame will ensure your reputation remains sterling, and with signals from Saturn and Pluto, that your income also stays strong.
Month’s end brings one of the most glorious new moons of 2019, falling in Virgo on August 30. This new moon might bring a sterling opportunity to address a home-related goal. You could find a new apartment or house, or you could stay in your present house and call in the painters, make repairs, hire a contractor, declutter, or do any number of things to improve the look of your home. This new moon of August 30 will be one of the best moments of 2019 to buy, sell, or rent a new apartment or house or to browse furniture shops and model rooms to improve your décor. Start a vision board with tear sheets from home décor magazines to muse on design solutions.
Venus and Mars will make an exceedingly rare appearance together, swirling all over the velvet-blue sky amid twinkling stars to dance an enchanting dance of love on August 24. Have a party, invite a guest in your home (it has to be at home), or cook up a magical dinner just for your sweetheart/spouse. You won’t be sorry you did. Venus and Mars won’t be back to Virgo to embrace like this for more than two decades.
Your analytical mind will meet your prescient mind in the last week of the month, on August 26, 28, and 29, when Venus, then Mars, respectively, contact Uranus in a supremely friendly way. Your subconscious mind will pick up information subtly, on instinct, and although you will have no hard facts to back up what your inner voice is telling you to do, those feelings are being sent to you to protect you. You can trust them.
Also on these days, you may hear of a secret that suddenly surfaces. Rather than have a quick reaction, think about what you hear and what your best response should be.
