Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
Your career is moving forward beautifully as you begin October, thanks to the new moon that just occurred late last month on September 28, in Libra, at five degrees. You will have ten days of golden opportunity in early October to advance your position, so polish up your resume and make it known to particular individuals that you will be open to entertaining a promotion or offer from another firm. You are ready to take on more responsibility and influence, and it shows. You have several happy heavenly bodies lining up in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement, a rare situation that you’d be wise to take full advantage of now.
Those heavenly bodies include the new moon (opportunity), the Sun (indicating where you’ll shine—that’s your career), Venus (happiness and popularity), and Mercury (articulation). No zodiac sign cares more about their reputation and career advancement than you, dear Capricorn, and that is why early October will be so good for you.
The one planet missing is action-hero Mars, but he will happily be rushing over to this same prestigious career area of your chart on October 3, and once there, Mars will raise your profile and give you the courage, motivation, and drive to go after the position you want. Mars will also boost your confidence, so you will interview well. As a Capricorn, you are known to always stay cool under pressure, but this month, you will also show passion and enthusiasm. Energy attracts more energy, so you will have a winning combination. If you change jobs now, it will not represent a lateral move—one to a similar position—but rather a new position with a better title and more prestige, power, and influence.
Mars will remain in your professional house from October 3 until November 18, which is great news. This is the first time in approximately two years you’ve had Mars’ help in career matters. After the other little planets filling your tenth house of career success migrate to a new part of your chart, Mars will give you staying power, so you have a real chance to make a move now.
Capricorns usually do best in behemoth, multinational companies with a complex, firm hierarchy. In those companies, the sure-footed goat will always know the next spot on the mountain to reach next, the reason Capricorns so often reach high altitudes in their work. This month, with planets in Libra, you will likely do well in legal professions or jobs that would require you to be somewhat familiar with the standards and laws of your industry. Many Capricorns become famous architects, archeologists, or historians, or they work in any job that deals in historical themes, including movies or TV shows. They also do well as dentists or orthopedic surgeons.
Mercury will go retrograde from October 31 to November 20, so try to have all your plans wrapped up and finished by the first half of October, no later than October 20. If you need to buy a TV, an audio system, a kitchen appliance, a car, or a computer—in fact, any electronic item—do it before October 20 or wait until December.
The sign of Libra—the place the new moon falls and is encouraging your career—rules perfect proportion (echoed in the motif, the scales), so you might gravitate to positions involving beauty and art, such as working as a museum curator or as a director of an art gallery. You may find opportunities in the bridal or special, social events market or in industries devoted to jewelry, flowers, spas, or fashion—places where taste and style are important because Venus rules Libra. I am giving you ideas here to spark your thinking, but of course, you are more than able to supply your own.
I am excited by that new moon on September 28 because a new moon in Libra puts Venus first, and that is the planet that runs the engine of your prestigious, professional solar tenth house. On September 28, Venus received signals from Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck. This vibration will carry forward into October simply because it occurred on the same day as the new moon. It seems likely that a high-level executive behind the scenes will quietly help you with a spot you want. This person does not want you to know his or her identity, but if you find out, you will need to keep that person’s name anonymous.
Also happening in the first week, on October 2-3, Pluto will turn direct. Pluto matters to you because this planet of transformation and rejuvenation has been traveling in Capricorn since 2008 and will remain in your sign until January 2024. Pluto transits in a single constellation for 14 to 30 years because Pluto is the planet spinning at the farthest, outer edge of our solar system.
Now that Pluto is soon to be in a stronger orbit, he will be able to help you by pushing matters forward that have seemed stubbornly stuck. Whenever a big planet like Pluto turns from retrograde to direct, it gives subtle clues of what’s next. Keep an eye on the two days (plus or minus) that surround October 2-3, for you will see the direction that a matter of importance to you will go in future weeks.
Your home or family will be your big focus at the full moon, October 13, falling in Aries, at 20 degrees. Something at home is concluding—you may see the repairmen leave or the contractor finish up, or you may have your big day when you close on your new house (or, conversely, sell property). You may receive a furniture delivery, or you might entertain friends or family at your home over the weekend of October 12-13—that would be a great idea. If your family is coming to town, you may have family sleeping on your couch, air mattresses, or guest room. It will be fun, too.
I love that good fortune Jupiter in Sagittarius, at 20 degrees, will be divinely harmonious to the full moon in Aries, also at 20 degrees, lighting your home sector. This suggests that whatever you do at this point to your home would add to the beauty, quality, and feeling of luxury. If you give a cocktail party or dinner party, you will go all out and treat your guests to a memorable evening. This is a special full moon—you will love how things unfold.
You will feel the slowdown, postponements, cancellations, forgetfulness, and inability to reach decision-makers as soon as October 21.
If you would like to learn more about Mercury retrograde, I wrote an essay about its effects. Go to my website, Astrology Zone, and scroll down on my home page. The essay is called “Everything You Need to Know about Mercury Retrograde.” The link is here: http://bit.ly/2ny6INl.
At this time of the month, Pluto will be in a challenging position to the Sun. This means that while you are distracted with home-related activities, you will need to keep your fingers on the pulse at the office. Do not ask a VIP for a favor, and don’t challenge authority. Keep up with duties at work as best as you can, and you should be fine.
This full moon of October 13 will fall over the weekend, and although you can notice the message of a full moon for four days after it appears, in your case, this month, you will feel the full moon mostly from Friday night, October 11, through Monday, October 14. Unless you have a job that makes you work weekends (many do), you likely won’t interact with your company or your clients very much over this full moon, so I feel you can relax and enjoy your family, home, and hearth. In America, October 14 is Columbus Day, a day when most people are off, so if you live outside the US, see if you can take one vacation day to treat yourself to a long weekend—it could be so enjoyable.
Now I come to the part of the month that will give us all, no matter what sign we happen to be, a difficult new moon. It will arrive on October 27 in Scorpio, at four degrees. The problem is that Uranus in Taurus, found 180 degrees across the sky, will oppose the new moon and Sun to exact degree. This is a tough opposition. The Sun and new moon will be in your eleventh house of friendship, and Uranus will attack both from your fifth house of love.
It looks like a friend or love relationship could become rocky almost instantly when unexpected news surfaces. I am not sure if you will be shocked by what a friend does or says or what your sweetheart may tell you. (This would be someone you are dating, not married to, as marriage is a different house.)
Looking at this, it seems more likely to be a friend who touches off the dramatic incident. Alternatively, it may be that one of your children, at least a teen (not younger), who might draw your attention and concern you. Still, it seems more likely to be a friend or casual acquaintance who causes shock. Uranus rules your second house of earned income, and the Sun rules your eighth house of other people’s money, like credit cards and loans, so money seems to form part of the discussion of this turbulent episode.
Coincidentally, at the same time as this distracting October 27 new moon, Mars will be at a 90-degree square to Pluto, so news at the office will need tending to from you. Of course, everything happens at once—isn’t that just like real life? Your nerves may be a little raw but stay steady when dealing with VIPs at the office. Everyone will be walking around a little bruised from the new moon, so be the calm, warm voice amid a sometimes chaotic world.
This, too, will pass. You may welcome November when Mercury will open up your schedule, appointments get postponed, and you will have free time to catch up on everything.
This will be a landmark month for important growth in both your career and home life. You are a cardinal sign, so you are known to insist on progress and will be the first to lead others to a goal. This month, you will have the majority of planets in cardinal signs like yours, so events will move quickly, especially in the first half of the month.
In the first ten days, opportunities to advance your career will be the best you’ve seen in 2019, so it will be important to be strategic and go for the professional prize you have your eye on the moment the month begins. You are very fortunate in that you will have action-hero Mars in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievements, along with a crowd of happy planets there too, and they will all support your career goals every step of the way. If there were ever a time to interview for a new position or to ask for a promotion, it is now, and the earlier in the month you do so, the better.
Jupiter’s position is an interesting one, for his perch in your twelfth house (behind-the-scenes sector) suggests that you have a hidden benefactor who has singled you out as a star to watch. This person will see to it that you are groomed for bigger and better things, and you’ll climb the ladder of success quicker with this person’s anonymous support than you could without it. You will start to see the truth of this as soon as this coming December, and more so as you enter 2020.
Something is culminating at home, and your attention will turn there to ensure that all goes well over the weekend of October 12-13. That will be the time of the full moon in Aries, pointing your attention to your home life and also to the needs of family. You may be entertaining guests or seeing a contractor’s work completed, or you might stage a thorough cleaning project, paint, or buy new furniture. Alternatively, it may be that you will pay close attention to the needs of a parent, for both your mother and father relate to the fourth house where the brilliant full moon will be. Good-fortune planet Jupiter will again be very supportive of this full moon, ready and able to help you arrange things just so. You will also find your parents are supportive of you, and if the tables turn and you need their help, they will want to do all they can for you, so ask.
The end of the month brings turbulence from a rather fierce and disagreeable new moon in Scorpio on October 27. A friend or sweetheart—or one of your children, if grown—may say or do something that upsets you. This does not seem to be a romantic partner, but more likely a friend or older offspring, but I cannot say that with absolute certainty, so I must list all. If you are married, it will not affect your committed relationship, as the marriage house is not being looped into this new moon.
Whatever happens will come out of left field, and because you didn’t have an inkling of this, you may feel broadsided by events. It is always disappointing when a friend or person you love and trust crosses you or commits a betrayal. If this should happen, it will be up to you to decide whether to work to mend the relationship or leave it altogether. These are powerful planets and will create a strong impact that could take up to six months to fully resolve.
Mercury will go retrograde several days after that cranky new moon, from October 31 until November 20. Mercury is the planet of logic, objective thinking, and communication, but during this period will dim its powers. This will add to the confusion of the October 27 new moon and may cause you to misread a situation and jump to a conclusion. If you hear something that makes you feel immediately emotional, take a moment to check the facts.
No one will have an easy time in the last week of the month when Uranus will oppose the Sun and moon on October 27, shaking up the status quo and causing the pieces of the situation to fly in different directions. It might be possible to pick up those pieces and start anew, but all will depend on how you feel about what you learn after you have vetted the facts. This new moon is a testing new moon, meant to cleanse a situation if need be by airing information in daylight.
