Cancer Horoscope for May 2022

Monthly News from Susan Miller

MAY 2022

Dear Reader,

This is a big month! Two eclipses are due, the one April 30 was a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus, and it will affect you for six months or more. The second eclipse will be a total eclipse of the moon (lunar full moon eclipse) in Scorpio, and it will affect you near the time it will occur because full moons tend to deliver news quickly and bring conclusions or endings—something ends and something else begins. Two weeks later, a sweet new moon (not an eclipse) in Gemini will appear on May 30. That is not half of what’s happening in May!

Your May Horoscope for Cancer

This should turn out to be a surprisingly good month for you where things get clarified and opportunities pop up when you least expect them to. There is much to talk about—two eclipses, plus one new moon, the monumental move of Jupiter, the move of Mars to a new sign, and much more. Let’s get started.

The first eclipse we need to look arrived one day before the start of May on April 30, in Taurus 10 degrees, and lit your eleventh house of friendship. This is a joyous area of the chart, and Taurus is a sign that blends beautifully with your watery Cancer Sun. Furthermore, this was a new moon solar eclipse, and those are known to open new doors and start new chapters. Don’t think of an eclipse as affecting you just for a day or a week—it will have an effect for weeks or months.

You may make a new close new friend, or you may join a professional or social club that you find helpful and enjoyable beyond your expectations. This house is the house of charity and humanitarian activities too, so you may volunteer to help a group that is suffering and requires greater awareness of their plight and help get this group the funding they need. This could be an area of great personal growth for you.

Any time people gather together for a specific purpose, it’s an eleventh house matter. If you are active on social media, such as YouTube, TicTok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Clubhouse, Twitter’s Spaces, or in China on WeChat, as some examples, you may decide to hold an event (or upload a video) this month, and it could become so wildly popular that you can’t believe the number of views. You have a chance in early May (and in the weeks to come) to increase your followers quite a bit. You would have to get started in early May to start building momentum, but you can do it.

At the same time good things are happening, sometimes an eclipse will ask you to give something up, such as a close friendship or a leadership position you hold in a club. For example, you might have one close friend who is getting married or moving a great distance away. You will know that will change your relationship in ways you can’t predict. Eclipses make us feel the passage of time, and in this example, you know that things will not be the same again.

Of course, if a friend disappoints you terribly with a betrayal, that would likely mark the end of the friendship. However, a new moon solar eclipse, especially one that is well aspected like this one, is almost always a happy event. New moon solar eclipses tend to start new experiences, not end them.

This eclipse will be felt the most strongly by Cancers who have birthdays that fall on July 1, plus or minus five days. The same is true if you have Cancer rising 10 degrees or have your natal moon at that degree in Cancer, plus or minus five degrees. If you have your natal chart, look to see if you have any planets within five degrees of 10 degrees Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, because if you do, you, too, will feel the eclipse but find a good way to benefit—the planet you find at that degree and sign will work hard for you.

On May 10, Jupiter will move to Aries, your tenth house of career honors, awards, and achievement. You will have a dizzying array of offers begin to come your way.

At the same time of the April 30 eclipse, you have Mars, the action planet, in perfect angle to the Sun and new moon, which is lovely, and that orbit is a tight, close one. At this time Mars will be in Pisces, a sign that blends beautifully with yours. This shows that concurrently, you may need to travel or deal with a person in a foreign country, and that relationship should go exceedingly well. Other areas of gain are the publishing and broadcasting industries, matters having to do with higher education, the legal system and the courts, and immigration. At the same time as this eclipse, Mercury and Pluto are in sync, suggesting a VIP may approve an idea you have waiting.

The next eclipse—they always come in pairs—will be a full moon lunar eclipse in your fifth house of true love, Scorpio, at 25 degrees on May 15/16. This one is mixed, and the part I worry most about is that Uranus, the planet of unexpected news, will be within 10 degrees of a perfect opposition to the full moon. (That’s within significance, as I always allow a 10-degree orb for an eclipse.) This full moon lunar eclipse will end something, so if you are dating, it might be that you learn news that gets you upset. You may feel this incident represents the last straw on a long list of frustrations and leave. All full moons bring a conclusion—a lunar eclipse is even stronger.

Or instead of a lover being your center of attention, it may become clear that a child needs help and that you can no longer sit by and hope things improve on their own—the May 15 eclipse would be a call to action. The fifth house (the house of this eclipse for you) rules truelove—a close romantic relationship—and the birth and care of your children.

The other possibility is that a creative project brings problems and needs to be sorted out, most likely by being transparent and including all individuals in the group who are involved. Money seems to be a topic of discussion, for it is an element in the dilemma. Any information coming up seems to shock all concerned. A remedy is possible but will require thinking outside the box.

Usually for a normal full or new moon I would allow an 8-degree orb, but eclipses are much stronger, so I allow 10 degrees of separation to still be within orb. (Uranus is at 15 degrees Taurus, and 180 degrees across the sky is the full moon lunar eclipse at 25 degrees Scorpio. That is just at 10 degrees of a perfect opposition, not a tight opposition by anyone’s standards, but still significant. I am not sure Uranus will give you surprise, unwanted news, but I have to allow for that possibility.) As a Cancer, you tend to feel lunar eclipses more than solar eclipses because you are ruled by the moon. Something is coming to fullness and is being illuminated so that you can make a decision using all the facts.

At the same time as this eclipse, Saturn will be in hard angle to the Sun and full moon, so you may feel you have to make a hard choice. Or that you feel short of cash. This house also rules children, pregnancy, and birth, so you may have concern over a child you have and want to get him special lessons or place her in a new school, but money may be a consideration. Alternatively, Saturn may make you feel pressured or overworked, so in that case, you will need to take good care of your health.

The good part about his eclipse is that Pluto will be in perfect angle to the Sun and full moon, and this is important because Pluto rules Scorpio, the sign of this May 15 full moon lunar eclipse. A VIP will likely look favorably on a request that you bring her. I also love that Mars and Neptune will be within orb to send a warm and friendly glance to the Sun and full moon, stimulating creativity and also bringing help from a foreign person from the media (publishing or broadcasting world), government, legal field, or even from a religious person, such as a priest or rabbi.

You will feel this eclipse if your birthday falls within five days of July 16 or have Cancer rising or your natal moon at 25 degrees Cancer, plus or minus five degrees. If you know your birth chart, look to see if you have a natal planet within five degrees of 25 degrees of Scorpio or Taurus, for that will be the line of tension, but also of resolution.

Now let’s turn to the benefic changes you will have when Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, moves into Aries on May 10. This is the first time in 12 years (2010 to 2011) that you have hosted Jupiter in Aries. This is big news! Jupiter will move into your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement on May 10 and remain there until October 27, and then return on December 20, 2022, to stay until May 16, 2023. You have a glorious outlook for career growth in the coming months, and assuming you love your job and will give it all the concentration it needs, your reputation for excellence will grow.

Jupiter is the planet of reward, and that sums up why you will do so well professionally. All your past efforts over the years have led to this moment and will allow you now to walk through a new threshold that will bring greater responsibilities. You will have more power and control in your coming role to exert in your firm, your industry, or possibly the world. The talent you have developed, along with your dedication, hard work, and good judgment, will be acknowledged and rewarded. Doors that were firmly shut in the past will now swing open for you. You may get a new title too, before this trend will be over next year in May 2023.

Jupiter is in Aries, an entrepreneurial sign, so you will do best if you are in a job that’s fairly autonomous, and by that I mean not having you overly supervised. Jupiter in Aries will also benefit you if you are self-employed or in sales, areas where you would need to continually develop new business or prove yourself.

Other types of jobs that will benefit are those that include athletics or are part of the support staff of athletes, such as coaches or TV/radio sports anchors. Firemen, policemen, and those working in the military are ruled by Aries because they are courageous and have jobs that are physical and require a person stay in good shape. Being a surgeon is an Aries profession because they work with sharp instruments, and those are ruled by Mars, Aries’ ruler. TV producers have to think on their feet and take responsibility. Cancers working in these types of jobs would flourish under Jupiter in Aries. You can add other professions, too.

I love that Jupiter in Aries will orbit with Mars in Aries at month’s end. Mars will be in your tenth house of fame and honors from May 24 to July 4. Mars, as Aries ruler, adds even more courage and can-do spirit to the sign. This alone—having Mars in your tenth house—will add energy and benefits to you for six weeks, and it is a privilege you receive every two years. To have Mars in the same house with Jupiter, well, that’s VERY special, because as I said, having Jupiter there only happens for one year every 12 years.

I looked up when we had both planets together in Aries, your tenth house. The last time this happened it was 11 years ago on May 1, 2011, and the time prior to that was June 16, 1975. This confluence of having Jupiter and Mars together will not happen again until 2058. You see how rare and special this month is! While you will have Jupiter in Aries, your prestigious tenth house of fame and honors, for about a year, you’ve got Mars with you now to kick this trend off. Work hard to build upon your present reputation. You don’t need Mars and Jupiter to be conjunct to see success, but you will benefit from that conjunction, too.

May 29 brings that rare and special Mars-Jupiter conjunction. Mars brings action, and Jupiter brings profit from action. This will happen on a Sunday, but if you need a weekday, you will feel this energy as it moves toward perfection earlier on Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27. On those days, Mars and Jupiter will be approaching their conjunction and be close enough to bring you sparkling benefits. On Thursday, May 26, Venus will be conjunct the transiting moon in Aries, too. That, along with Mars and Jupiter, makes this a standout day for your career.

If you have been unemployed, Jupiter can bring you that top job that you dreamed would someday be yours. Don’t give up—looking for a job is hard, but you have truly spectacular aspects.

Mercury will be retrograde this month from May 10 to June 3, so it’s possible that a job or assignment that was almost yours slipped through your fingers and fizzled, but it might now come back to you. I know Mercury retrograde can be frustrating, and you know it too, but by now you probably know how to deal with Mercury when he’s sleeping. You know you need to become more deliberate in all your actions.

When I leave the house and know I have many errands to do, I count the number of bags I have with me—usually four: my computer, my handbag, and two small shopping bags. I keep track all day—do I have all four? When I leave one errand and go on to another, I count my bags. In New York City, where I live, we don’t drive. We walk, we get in and out of taxi cabs or pop into subways, go in and out of shops and the bank—it’s easy to lose something. However, if you are careful and deliberate, you won’t lose a thing.

Don’t sign a contract, lease, or any other important agreement until a day or two after Mercury goes direct at the earliest. You are already feeling the delays and mix-ups since the last week of April.

If you must sign a contract early on, do it on the very best day of the month, May 3, only a week prior to the retrograde, but technically, Mercury won’t be retrograde yet. Here is why I recommend this day.

On May 3, Jupiter and Pluto will make a definitive aspect, and when these two financial planets are together, it is what astrologers call a signature of success. This is such a good day, and it will only happen once this year. The next time we will have a good aspect between Jupiter and Pluto will be in June 2024. So there is no doubt about it—Tuesday, May 3 is a special, financial day to use to your benefit.

As May nears its end, we have one more lunation, a new moon on May 30, this time in Gemini, 10 degrees (not an eclipse). This is a mild new moon for it will light your twelfth house of rejuvenation and rest. You seem to want to withdraw from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, to do some strategizing and thinking. The twelfth house is associated with solitude, and you will do your best work in the weeks ahead when you are working alone, and where you can shut out people who burn your time or distract you.

Additionally, at this new moon in Gemini May 30, Mercury, as the ruler of Gemini, will take on special importance, and happily, Mercury will receive golden rays from Pluto, the planet of transformation. Pluto’s good position toward Mercury also suggests that a business or romantic partner will be quick to assist you, provided you ask for the help. Mars and Jupiter, in conjunction the day prior, May 29, will still be orbiting quite close on this new moon and positioned at the very pinnacle point of your chart. Wow. Furthermore, Jupiter and Mars will contact the Sun and new moon of May 30, showering it with gold dust and suggesting confidential meetings might lead to a larger role for you in your career.

The twelfth house is the house of secrets and confidentiality, so you may be working on a project or having meetings that need to be kept under wraps for the time being. Keep mum, and you will be glad you did.

This new moon, May 30, might put you in contact with medical personnel or a professional therapist for you or on behalf of a family member or friend. It would be a good time to start therapy if you feel you need someone to speak to about a concern.

Venus will move into Taurus on May 28 until June 22, and that period will be fun for you. Friends will come find you and give you reasons to leave the house, and overall, you’ll enjoy that period.

What a month May will be.

This will be an active month where you can make plenty of impressive progress. Conditions will be in flux, mainly due to two eclipses in play now. Additionally, both Mars and Jupiter will be moving into new signs, and to complicate things, Mercury will be retrograde from May 10 to June 3.

No matter—you are likely used to Mercury’s tricks by now (after all, this happens three times a year for three and a half weeks), so I’d venture to say that by now, you are an expert at dealing with Mercury’s delays, miscommunications, and general mayhem when retrograde. You might go back to a project that had been put aside when the when the world shut down at the start of the pandemic. Mercury retrograde is a good time to go back to former situations to pick up loose threads and finish them.

A new moon solar eclipse in Taurus came by at the end of last month on April 30 and may have brought an unexpected expense or other sudden news about a source of income. A friend seems to be prominent in the message the April 30 eclipse brought, too.

Luckily, at the same time as the eclipse, April 30, Jupiter aligned with Venus and will protect all matters involving your home and family life. If you hope for a breakthrough regarding home-related matters, be optimistic, for in the first week of May, Jupiter can deliver.

Meanwhile, Mars, prior to May 24, is still working his way through your ninth house, a holdover from last month, and may bring a chance to take a trip to an exciting location. (I didn’t have the room to explain this in your main report, so here it is in the summary.) If you can travel, you will want to stay at a luxurious hotel or home, for Jupiter would have it no other way. You’ve superb luck with foreign people in the first three weeks of May. If you want or need to travel to a location that requires your passport, by all means, go. This month your aspects are glittering for overseas travel, whether for business or pleasure, and all aspects point to you enjoying a perfect trip.

Once Mars moves into Aries on May 24, it will join forces with Jupiter, culminating in a rare conjunction of these two planets in your house of awards and honors on May 29.

There will be other opportunities, such as to find yourself the subject of a favorable media publicity, or you may work on a major story as producer or journalist—it could become a jewel in your crown. If you need to call your lawyer for any reason, do so early in May before Jupiter leaves Pisces on May 10. If applicable, attend to matters of citizenship, immigration, residency status, or visa before May 10.

You may also want to get your application in to apply for entry to your favorite university or apply for a grant to study a certain subject. You need to act quickly—before Jupiter leaves Pisces on May 10. You have Jupiter “trine” your Sun in Cancer, and this is the best, most harmonious aspect you could ever wish to see. This happens only once in four years, so take action soon, before May 10.

On May 10, Jupiter will move to Aries, a major moment of the month, for Jupiter is the good fortune planet and will now send golden vibrations to your tenth house of career honors, awards, and achievement for the first time in 12 years. Jupiter will stay approximately a full year in this area of your chart. All the work you’ve done will now bring praise and opportunities for advancement.

You will begin to have a dizzying array of offers, so choose well—you should not stretch yourself too thin by accepting all the offers that come your way. Jupiter will remain in Aries until October 27, then return on December 20. From December 20, 2022, Jupiter will again brighten your career sector until May 16, 2023. You will have a long and exciting ride.

On May 15/16, a full moon total lunar eclipse will occur in Scorpio, triggering a decision about someone you have been dating. Alternatively, the eclipse may ask you to make a decision or take action on behalf of one your children. Or a creative project may come to culmination.

The outlook for this eclipse is mixed with some jarring news but also some very good news. Pluto, Scorpio’s ruler, will be in fine, supportive angle to the Sun and full moon eclipse. Mars is Scorpio’s secondary ruler and will also be in perfect position to offer support, and Neptune will offer inspiration and unconditional love. If you’ve been on the fence about a person you’ve been dating or about how you can help a child (or whether to have a baby), this eclipse might give you reason for hope. Cancers born on or near July 18 will be the most affected by this eclipse. Eclipses do what we cannot accomplish for ourselves. It’s all upbeat and working in your favor.

By the new moon in Gemini, May 30, you will want to withdraw a bit, content to enjoy the pleasure of your own company or those closest to you, to enjoy a sense of peacefulness with no need to do much socializing. You may be formulating a strategy for a project you are working on, possibly one that’s confidential. This sounds mysterious—and quite interesting.

As you see, it’s a busy month, but lots will get settled so that you can move forward with greater certainty.
