Mars retrograde can be tricky for you to handle. You may change your mind more than once, or it may be that people around you keep changing theirs, so you may feel that things refuse to settle down. This is only temporary, but can be hard to deal with.
Trying to persuade anyone of anything during Mars retrograde might seem almost impossible. Mars is the gas you put in your car to make it go, or the gas in the stove you use to cook your soup. Alas, with Mars retrograde, there is no gas, so things tend to remain unsettled, or if you can get closure, you need to work extra hard to make up for the energy missing from Mars, requiring more time and effort from you. You will find Mars going direct February 23 as a welcome development.
Astrologers look at declinations of a planet, too. You are used to seeing planets move backward or forward, but declinations measure the planet’s angular distance to the celestial equator. When that angular distance is more than 23 degrees, it is considered “out of bounds.” That’s just what it sounds like—a little rogue. All through January, Mars will be out of bounds and acting in a strong way. How can Mars be super strong AND retrograde? He can be a little rebellious and cranky, like a child that is overtired and overwrought.
