TCM Spotlight: Star Signs with Susan Miller
Tuesdays in July / 12 Movies
July 6 - July 27
Turner Classic Movies network asked if I would like to co-host with TCM’s Alicia Malone in July’s ”Spotlight: Star Signs with Susan Miller,” to take place starting July 6 and running every Tuesday night at 8 PM EDT, 5 PM PDT. That means you can set your DVR on July 6, 13, 20, and 27. You will be treated to three classic movies each of the four Tuesday nights I will host with Ms. Malone. You will get insight into the star’s personality as shown by their charts, and learn about each sign with facts you may not have known that would apply to you, your family, and your friends.
Specifically, the 12 movies I chose will be divided into the four elements: Fire, Air, Earth, and Water. I will comment on how the star approached his or her role, and why that role was so perfect for that star.
You will love these movies! The movies I chose are:
Tuesday, July 6, at 8 PM EDT, 5 PM PDT—FIRE SIGNS
• Aries—Steve McQueen, The Cincinnati Kid
• Leo—Lucille Ball, The Long, Long Trailer
• Sagittarius—Kirk Douglas, The Bad and the Beautiful
Tuesday, July 13, at 8 PM EDT, 5 PM PDT—EARTH SIGNS
• Taurus—Audrey Hepburn & Gary Cooper, Love in the Afternoon
• Virgo—Gretta Garbo, Grand Hotel
• Capricorn—Humphrey Bogart, To Have and Have Not
Tuesday, July 20, at 8 PM EDT, 5 PM PDT—AIR SIGNS
• Aquarius—James Dean, Rebel without a Cause.
• Gemini—Marilyn Monroe, The Prince and the Showgirl
• Libra—Rita Hayworth, Gilda
Tuesday, July 27, at 8 PM EDT, 5 PM PDT—WATER SIGNS
• Pisces—Elizabeth Taylor, Butterfield 8
• Cancer—Ginger Rogers with Fred Astaire, The Gay Divorcee
• Scorpio—Grace Kelly with Clark Gable and Ava Gardner, Mogambo

Some movies I already knew and loved (fun to see again), and others were new to me. You might want to invite a friend over so you can discuss the movies afterwards. If you will be out or want to see one at a time, you will want to DVR your favorites if you can’t watch them all at once.
Turner Classic Movies will NOT archive the movies or air the movies on other nights, so you need to record the movie or lose the chance to see it. This is TV by appointment viewing!
You can also watch the moves on your phone or tablet by using the company’s cool app, so search in Apple’s App Store or Google Play for “Watch TCM” to download it free. I am told you will have a little more time to catch each movie on the app, up to a week before it is taken down. (You will need to have TCM available in your cable service to utilize the “Watch TCM” app.)
To get ready to watch, you may want to find out now which channel Turner Classic Movies appears on your cable box. You also will need to know whether your provider gives you that channel as part of your service bundle. (My cable provider does give me TCM automatically.) If not, you can likely buy the service for an affordable charge for as long as you’d like to keep the subscription.
To sum up, the series that I will co-host—an astrological series called Star Signs—will air Tuesday nights in July, beginning Tuesday July 6 at 8 PM EDT.
On July 6, I will discuss FIRE signs, followed by EARTH signs on July 13. AIR signs are next, to air on July 20, and the series finishes with WATER signs on July 27
Most movies are 90 minutes, although some are longer.
I have the ability to do push notifications on my own app (whether you have the free download or the upgraded premium version), so be sure you turn on “Allow Notifications” in the app’s preferences. On the morning of each viewing. I will remind you to tune in to the shows that evening.
Generally, I send out very few notifications, so you will not be flooded with texts, only ones I consider important. I have started texting you when I post Astrology Zone too, so you won’t have to keep checking.
If you don’t have my free app, it’s available in the Apple App Store and Google Play and is called “Daily Horoscope Astrology Zone by Susan Miller.” (Just search for “Susan Miller” and it will come up instantly. You will see a photo of me in a white blouse—that’s easier than typing that long title.)
My app won a first-place award from the Media Excellence Awards in Los Angeles in May for “Excellence in Entertaining Content”—it was a thrill to win, and I posted a picture on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook of the crystal trophy the MEA award committee sent me under my handle @Astrologyzone (for both Twitter and Instagram) and “Susan Miller’s Astrology Zone” for Facebook.
Join me each Thursday evening FOLLOWING the airing of each Tuesday night movie on Twitter so you can tell me which movies were your favorite Turner Classic Movies. We can discuss them together, and it will be fun. That means I will be on Twitter July 8, July 15, July 22, and July 29 at 7 PM ET to hear your thoughts. Use the hashtag #TurnerClassicMovies so I can find your post.
If you like, you can also add Turner’s Twitter handle, @TCM, to your post comments.
